RE: 35 or 55 DLE for 80 inch yak
If you do run a 30cc in a 50cc plane you might find you have to add close to a pound of weight in the nose for balance.

RE: Covering Question
You may find that the covering stilll sticks to the ribs even though you dont press it on. I dont press it on the ribs, never had a wing failure either.

RE: Does anyone have 50cc Yak or Sbach in stock?
Try Aztec, he told me he was getting some Slipstream Sbach's in soon http://www.shop.aztechaeromodels.com/main.sc Valley Veiw is supposed to get a new shipment that included Yak's, dont remember if they were 54's or 55's's or 55's http://www.valleyviewrc.com/estore/ I was looking for 50cc planes a couple weeks ago, found I had to call them as most of the websites are not up to date.

CG for 50cc MX2 EG Aircraft
Can someone advise me on a good CG to start with for this plane? EG Aircraft 50cc MX2 The manual say's 6 to 7 inches from leading edge, a post here on RCU from an EG distributor say's start at an inch before the wingtube (5 3/4 inches from leading edge)

RE: DL50 dies turning on runway
Even though its a bit rich on the low end, It doesnt sound rich when it dies, its more like when you turn sharp the ignition was shut off. if you do this at the higher idle, the idle speed drops for a second. I understand what you mean about the throttle stick position, you can push down further for half a detent of the throttle ratchet. It used to do that a couple years ago but I readjusted the throttle ratchet so that it wont anymore. I will do what 3136 say's and see what happens, its supposed to rain here for a few days so it may be a l ittle while before I can try it

RE: Magnum XL 52 parts
I looked on the Global services wewbsite mentioned above and found that there is an XL 52 RFS and XL 52 RFS Blue , both are 4 strokes but the newer one has a blue valve cover. Thanks for steering me in the right direction.

Magnum XL 52 parts
I have a XL 52, I need to get a new connecting rod but cannot find this model. All I can find is the XL 52 "RFS" parts. Does the XL use the same parts as the XL RFS 52 ?

RE: DL50 dies turning on runway
Yes, there is usually more than a half tank, fuel clunk is good and wont stick at any position, always at bottom.

DL50 dies turning on runway
I have a DL 50 with about 2 gallons through it on a Hangar 9 Extra 260. Its running great exept when landing I get almost to the end of the runway and have to turn it around sharply, thats when it dies. It doesnt matter which way I turn and wont do it turning slower. I cannot always turn it slower as sometimes I am going faster when approaching the end of the runway. The throttle servo is not affected when using the rudder to turn. I presume its the inertia of the turn acting on something in the carb.

Ive seen something like this before. all surfaces were glitching at full throttle, turned out that the receiver was at fault under vibration. Now when I do a range check I also check it at different throttle settings.

RE: Antifreeze engine cleaning
I would'nt recomend using it in the garage atached to the house or otherwise. Set it outside, animals wont drink it if its still hot. I store mine just inside the garage door when cool.

Charge field battery with Accucycle??
Wondering if I can safely charge my field battery (gel cell 12V 7 AH) with my Accucycle elite? The Accucycle is made for Nicd, nimh and lithium packs, I can program it for 12V and 7000 mah but will it hurt the charger or the battery?

RE: Saito 100 Throttle Barrel Not Closing
I have experienced this and it was because of excessive side pressure from the throttle rod causing the locating pin to wear on one side, eventually it can wear the pin off of the set screw and the barrel will back out and dead stick.

Too much compression? Saito 125
I have a 125 that wont turn over with the starter unless the carb is closed. I always turn the prop clockwise against compression then apply the starter, when the prop rotates against the compression is stops. If I use the kill switch to close the carb it turns over fine then I can have someone flip the switch to normal running position while I have it rotating and it will contimue to turn over and start. I have 3 other Saito's 100, 120, and 125 that start normally. Ive been starting this particular 125 this way for over a year now but just thought I would put it up here to see if someone knows whats up with this motor. Thank you

RE: run time - how long will a tank of fuel last
I dont know of a chart that will generally tell you how long a tank will last. It all depends on your kind of flying, type and size of motor and how many oz. your tank is. If you are building a new plane and need to know how big of tank to use, tell us what plane it is and what motor you are using, you could get answeres from flyers who have that combination.

RE: SPACEWALKER II
DIVERHERB I have been flying for ten years and used to planes pulling left on take off and I have to agree that this plane is a handfull on take off's. It steers very hard left as soon as the tail comes up. Holding up elevator during take off is a no no as you have experienced. After flying mine for over 70 flights I can do a successful take off 8 out of 10 times. Slowly accellerate and let it roll strait without elevator input and take notice what speed the tail comes off the runway. Once you get used to that speed learn to apply about a 1/3 right rudder before it reaches the speed the tail comes up and hold the rudder there. As the tail comes up with right rudder applied you will have a better chance of keeping it strait down the runway, continue to steer the plane with rudder. Do slow take off's so you can keep up with whats going on, it doesnt take much speed to get this plane of the ground. You may need to practice tail up taxi-ing for a tank of fuel or so to get used to it. I am contemplating modifying the wing to move the landing gear closer to the CG, the Sig Spacewalker has the maingear under the wing and though it doesnt make it easy, its still more controllable than this Seagull version.

RE: Airfoil change question
Sorry for getting back to this late but thank you for all of your input. The plane is a blast to fly aerobaticly (seagull sSpacewalker 40) but at the slowest speed it still looks too fast to be scale. I realize I wont be able to make it fly like my friends 1/4 scale Spacewalker but it looks like I can slow it down somewhat and use the original wing for sport flying. I re-covered the fuse on this ARF so I could add a stringer down the side for a better look, rounded the cockpits just because I like rounded cockpits and to put better looking red stripes on the fuse and tailfeathers as the original looked hokey to me. All in all I have too much work in the fuse to change the airfoil much. Building a new wing from scratch will be fun and will help me in building and/or disigning planes altogather. Thank you again Greg

Airfoil change question
I have a plane that I would like to fly at a slower speed, and land slower without removing any weight. It has a semi-simetrical airfoil, cord is 10.5 inches wingspan is 61 inches. My plan is to make a new wing leaving the top airfoil basically the same but longer so it fits in the fuse and changing the bottom airfoil shape to be flat from the spar back and increase the cord by 1.5 inches. I believe this will give me light enough wing loading for what I want. Will it be a problem leaving the highest part of the airfoil where it is even though Im lengthening the cord by 1.5 inches to the rear??
