RE: the toyz merv wheel extensions
Best mod I have made so far to the MERV. It has pretty much eliminated the rollovers. FYI, I am using the 17mm versions.

RE: WRX body
I think the issue is that what you want doesn't exist [:(] I saw a 1:16 WRX "drift car" on Ebay, but I'm guessing the body is too big to fit on an RC18. Unfortunately, there just aren't that many bodies for this scale.

RE: Best car for a 6 years old kid???
Yeah, slow is good. I started my son off with a Losi Micro Rock Crawler when he was 2. He got the hang of driving around the living room, then I got him going on my Mini Rock Crawler outside. A good thing to remember with young children is to set the slipper clutch a bit loose, as they have the habit of keeping the throttle nailed after running into things. You could probably slow down the Stampede by running a 65-turn crawler motor in it (along with the smallest pinion you can find).

RE: Best car for a 6 years old kid???
My 3 year-old has been driving a Pro-Pulse I picked up off E-Bay for $50 ready-to-run. He has been having a blast with it, and hasn't broken anything on it yet. I have been driving a RC18R myself, but got him the Pro-Pulse so he can drive in the backyard as well as pavement. It will take the 18R tires/wheels if you want to set it up for road-only, but my son's is running the ones off of the RC18MT. They work everywhere and provide a bit more cush when he runs into/over stuff.

RE: Noisy RC18MT
Thanks for the advice, guys! The truck has ball diffs, so wouldn't expect them to be noisy, even if blown. When the one in my Tam Tech Frog went out, it just stopped working. Could be the 4wd transfer gears are shot? I will pop it apart tonight and check. The pinion looks good, but hard ot tell since it is so small. It is out in the open, which isn't too clever. Is it worthwhile to get one of the aftermarket covers for it? Mike

Noisy RC18MT
I recently picked up an RC18MT for my son, and it was running great for awhile. He rammed into some sort of solid object at some point, and from then on it has sounded like a coffee grinder. Other than the noise it seems to run with no issues, but I'm sure something is broken. I have checked the pinion and the mesh, and they seem good. Any ideas? Thanks! Mike

RE: good offbrand tx/rx 2.4????
I had issues w/ my son breaking AM antennas, so picked up a FlySky for $30 here: http://www.hobbypartz.com/fs-g2-24ghz-radio.html , and it has been working great. Additional Rxs are ~ $8.00 each. I have been using it for about a month with no issues. Mike

Tires for Tamtech Frog?
My pin-spikes aren't so spikey anymore [:o] I went to the Tamiya site, and the only tires they sell for the Tamtech are the Buggy Champ ones. I am looking for something with a more aggressive tread, and a bit larger outside diameter than the stockers, which look to have a 1.75" ID. Any suggestions?

Tamtech Gear ESC question
I just bought a Tamtech Gear Frog off of EBay, and am having great fun with it (had the original back in the 80s). On thing that is a bit annoying though. The ESC has a delay of about 10 seconds before reverse kicks in if it has been running in forward. Is this just the way the stock ESC works, or do I have a faulty one? I am running a 2S lipo, if that makes any difference. Thanks!
