18MZ Soft Sticks
My gymbals are super soft. I tried to tighten the stick springs, but that did not help much. They did stiffen a little, but not anywhere to my liking. I have 6 Futaba radios and this one happens to be the only one I can't get the springs to tighten. Will I have to order harder springs, send it in for service or just learn to live with it?

RE: Futaba 18MZ
I don't post much to RCU, but read it regularly. I just wanted to know about features of the new radio since my 14MZ is 3yrs old. YouTube videos and other sources demonstrate the 18 has really stepped up in technology from the 14MZ, sort of like going from the old brick cell phones to the latest iPhone. I sit here thinking how my parents were not wealthy, but I was able to attend private grammar and high school and able to play the trumpet in the marching and concert band. My trumpet was not the best by any standards. I remember marching with tape pretty much holding that horn together. yet, somehow with my rag tag and torn horn I managed 1st chair by my senior year. I eventually began playing bass guitar and later 6 string guitar. Once again, not the best instruments by any stretch of the imagination, most of the time just downright difficult to play proficiently, but I pressed on. Eventually, as a older person I was able purchase better quality instruments, even a high-end Les Paul(which unwontedly, someone decided to relieve me of). All I can say is what at one time seemed so challenging had become almost effortless. Imagine putting a 18MZ in the hands of every eager minded young RC pilot. This and other similar things in my life have taught me that while you certainly don't have to have the latest or the best, it really helps 'YOU' to progress in whatever you are doing if the tools you use are of better quality. I guess if you're just buying to impress or with no desire to progress you certainly could be considered a sucker. I guest some just don't get that growth is part of life, not only a part of life, but it’s a major part of what distinguishes us from the animal world. I wonder if the people that complain or always ready to make negative comments about newer technology were told they had to ditch their current RC "products" and go back to using only RC equipment from the 40's and 50's what response would they give.

RE: Futaba 18MZ
I have the 14MZ and love my mp3 player for acro routines/music. Please tell me they kept this feature? Also the ability to assign voice msgs to switches/sliders/knobs, does this still exist? I really would like to buy this radio and this could be a deciding factor. Some make fun of having these features on a RC radio, but if you use them wisely they can be great tools for flight, reminders, warnings, etc and just plain enjoyment!

RE: Best 64mm Setup?
ExtremeRc, I have never owned a Schuebeler, but heard likewise that they are pretty good motors. I was just not sure if you're getting what you pay for with those fans. I'm planning on putting the fan in a modified Nitroplanes "64mm Concept X Super" jet. I can always spruce up a planes, but when it comes to Fans, motors, esc and batteries I like to buy the best I can find. The 64 mm fan you're developing sound just like the type high performance fan I would like to have which could to be utilized in any 64mm jet and make it perform. I think I have developed some mental issues with all plastic fans. I've owned small fans like the Hyperflow, SAPAC, Nitroplanes, etc. just looking for something better in the aftermarket fans. Brgds

RE: Best 64mm Setup?
Rorrock, The Alu. fans really look promising. Thanks for pointing me to the Effluxrc site. Unfortunately, they are on vacation until 7/31. I've been thinking about the Schuebeler DS26 EDF, but cannot find much on anyone using this fan. Any thoughts on the DS26? As I do research for the perfect 64mm fan for me, I'm discovering there's quite a few out there and hard to discern which would give the best performance, along with durability, for the best price. Oh well, the search continues!!! Thanks Again

RE: Best 64mm Setup?
Thanks Extreme_RC and rorrock, Your input is very much appreciated. I guest I forgot to add that I want to use a 2000-2700mah 4s battery and was leaning more towards a outrunner motor. If I had to use a inrunner I would prefer one that allowed for or incorporated a heat sink. Extreme_RC, the alloy frame fan sounds promising. Will Nitroplanes carry the new alloy fan and how soon will it be available in the US? I'm really hoping to purchase a fan motor combo within the next few weeks, hence the question on what the best, strongest, most efficient 64mm fan/motor combo currently available. Thanks Again

RE: ESM T-28
ORIGINAL: fw190
ORIGINAL: builttocrash Thanks alanc, but here is the problem. I have no idea what a BUN fight is. LOL! :-) But seriously, how does overpowering a plane cause an elevator to flutter. I can understand motor vibration from a larger engine, but how does that translate to a fluttering elevator? Does it shake the tail so violently that it weakens? I'm just not following this point of thought. I am open to learning, but people have to give an explanation other than the typical, ''because I say''.
Lets see, try flying a Cessna at 400 mph but it cant normally because engine is too small, okay put a Merlin motor on it and try flying it at 400mph... I hope you see the point.
One of the reasons the full flying stab came about was due to flutter in jets with elevators when going to mach speeds. Flutter in models is usually due to size, trailing edge design(thin vs. thick, round vs. squared) gap size between stab and elevator and finally and most important, lack of good strong servos and stiff solid linkages
