RE: MVVS 09 diesel
So true about carbs. This engine is hard to retrofit another carburetor . I kind of managed a little China car type carb on one but have not run it yet. Ralph

RE: MVVS 09 diesel
The OS .10 Muffler comes pretty close if you are going to cut it to fit the MVVS. I just really love the Junior .2cc but both of mine have a poorly fitted contra and I cannot seem to beat them with my ball peen enough to make them tight. They don't leak but they fall down and ultimately travel with the piston. Strange noises that scare my friends. Ralph

RE: MVVS 09 diesel
I have bought a few MVVS parts from Hobby Club and ordered a muffler and a carburetor for the 1.5. On both occasions I received parts for the "Junior" 2 cc. After phone calls I never got a satisfactory response or an offer of replacement. Ralph

RE: Big score today
I flew mine on a .46 OS rear exhaust mounted inverted with the pipe run under the wing. A real pain but looked good.

RE: Big score today
Raise the wing mount 3/4" inch, invert the engine and use an aluminum gear. A good strong .45 on the nose and it is a nice airplane. For some reason they never seem to be very fast but with a little help it is a nice plane. Ralph

RE: PolySpan
Butyrate was all I knew after we started using alkahol fuels. I covered many planes with silk , nylon , and silkspan using nothing but butyrate. Being poor and living close to a small town airport a sympathetic group saw to it that we had all the dope we needed. They were not considered pushers in those days. Planes were heavy but fun. Ralph

RE: SlipStream 74 (Video and plans added)
Years ago my EU 1/2A had the rudder trimmed to 3/8" at the top. that helped with roll coupling a lot. Ralph

RE: Pusher configuration
Thanks for all the suggestions . I have a .19 TBR and used to fly it with a 9X4 and 9X5 but I have run them on larger props. Earl, I had not given aft play much thought but fore play I have heard of but not often witnessed.[:D]

Pusher configuration
I am in the midst of drawing up a pusher design using a PAW .19. Finding suitable props , ie 9 X 4 or something close is really hard so I was thinking that I may be better off with a CCW crank. Does anyone know if this animal exists and the possible habitat ? Ralph

RE: MVVS 11 engine
I have two of the Modela 2cc's and they are really sweet handling engines and throttle really well. They however share a loose fitting contra. I have tried several fixes and have not been able to get them right. I designed a plane with inverted engine just so it would make dealing with the contra easier. Ralph

RE: Schoolboy build thread
I built mine from Early RC kit and it has the fully sheeted wing. Mine flies on a PAW .55 it is a porker nowadays but still does great at 10 ounces.

I have remnants of DD gallon that has been decanted and un decanted many times and stored in South Texas heat for three years. Last week I filled the tank of my Schoolboy and started the PAW .55 on the third flip. Ralph

RE: Hotser
I tried all kinds of combos on the original Hots. OPS with the boat timed sleeve and a Prather pipe on one and it mostly sounded like the clutch was slipping. Probably the best was a modified Fox .45 piped. None of my seven variations was as light as yours nor as thin, so I bet you would win that race for sure. This looks like a fun project and you are doing it up right. FUN ! Ralph

The cleanest and fastest of the Hots is the Hotselliptic designed in the early 80's by John Bech-Hansen. The plans are still available. Ralph

I use shampoo bottles from hotels. One ounce and strong. Drill two one eigth inch holes where ever you want them and pull your tubing through and put the lid back on. Couldn't be easier. Mine last for years. Ralph

How timely. This past weekend a test flight of a .90 powered Phaeton bipe lost the battery pack in a violent outside manuver and continued to perform aerobatics for a few more brief seconds. Blasted Velcro!

Evans Polestar
I bet there have been hundreds if not thousands of these things built. It sure has an appealing shape, and flight charistics are well documented. I have just finished framing and shaping the fuselage. I am also about to discard it in favor of better engineering. This is just balsa butchery not a very strong nor durable method at all. Brings to mind the control liners of the forties. Aw, I'll probably finish it but glassed in and out and weighing more than me. Ralph
