RE: what rims do i go with? beadlock or glued?
Well, it really depends on whether or not you might want to change your tires in the future, and still be able to use the same rims. With beadlocks that option is always there, but not so much with glued tires. There are pros and cons with both. For example beadlocks dont require glue and have that cool factor, but there heavy and more expensive. With glued tires and rims the tires are pretty much permanently attached, but they are significantly lighter for a little better performance and quite a bit less expensive. Some people have had problems with the tires coming off of their beadlocks, but I haven't had any problems with mine yet *knocks on wood*. In the end it really depends on whether or not you'll want to buy new rims in the future, and how much you want to spend up front for them. I went with beadlocks just because they look cool, and I usually wind up gluing a couple of my fingers together![8|] Just my $.02... You'll surley get different opinions.

Or you can go to your local auto parts store and pick up some [link=http://www.greased-lightning.com/Products/Products.aspx?ProductId=6&type=auto]Greased Lightning[/link] cleaner. Thats what I used to remove all of that butt ugly purple anodizing off of my Savage, it works great and is cheap too![8D] Just keep an eye on the parts while your using it... Oh and wear gloves too!

RE: Which engine Poll
I voted for the SH .28-P6 simply because I've never seen any of the other ones in person, and because thats what I have in my Savage. Considering that it's not tuned yet and my tranny wasn't shifting the last time I ran it the engine seems to be quite a little powerhouse. From what I've read here SH is made by the same manufacturer as LRP and a few others so....

SH .28 P6 (video)
It's been pretty boaring here lately so I figured I post a short video for everybody to watch. It's nothing special but.... I put this engine in my Savage not knowing what to expect (and because it was fairly cheap), and I must say that I'm pretty impressed by the overall performance of it so far. Considering that it's not tuned or fully broken in yet, I'd say that it's a ringer. Check this out and let me know what you all think. Oh yeah, my slipper pad was bad in this video and the trans wasn't shifting, so please take that into consideration![:)] [link=http://s85.photobucket.com/albums/k57/nantucket10/?action=view¤t=100_0336.flv]Click me[/link] A couple pics too! Dude, Redcat is not that bad. I have a Volcano and have not had any major issues (with the exception of my being a newbie at the time [:)]). Sure you might have some quality issues compared to the more expensive models out there, but what do you expect for $140. Maybe you should go to the Redcat forum and ask some people who actually have the model in question.[:D] If Santa does get one for him, just be sure he gets it from one of the vendors in the forum, they offer great support and are always willing to help answer any questions that you might have.
ORIGINAL: rican25 vnmsgt..... Id like to see that MGT against my 4.6 Savage X with someone that could drive behind the wheel!!! I stayed for a bit to see that thing go off the big jump but he didnt hit it once while I was there. Kinda looking forward to seeing something other than the RTF truggys go off that thing!!! I swear if those things had wings theyd land somewhere outside the track!!! my buddy just swapped out shocks on his 4.1 so hopefully he can come tomorrow and if its a noticable difference than I will go with those shocks too. I know I will never get the Savage to handle as well as a truggy but there has to be some things I can do to greatly improve its stock handling. any ideas? see ya tomorrow.
Offset wheels and extended chassis plates (maybe triple rate springs too) will work wonders for the Savage handling. I have 3/4" offset Maximizer beadlocks and the triple rate springs on mine and that alone made a huge difference. You can also use zip ties to level the arms on the suspension and lower the stance a bit. I hear that helps a lot, but I have never tried it because I like the ground clearence for bashing. I'll try to find a link for you.

RE: is the savage water proof?
ORIGINAL: hawk900 You cannot completely keep water out of your electronics on an rc. That is why you need to dissassemble the electronics and coat everything with dielectric grease. Then, even when water gets in - and it will, the electronics will still work.
I second that. Since dielectric grease is made for spark plug boots and other electric connections it still conducts electricity and it repels water . Just don't go overboard with it and be sure to apply some where the spline gear comes out of the case for a little bit of added protection, then you should be good to go![8D]

RE: It didnt start HEEELLLPP
Tight pinch maybe. Try heating the cooling head up with a hair dryer or a heat gun if you have one. That will help loosen the pinch considerably making it easier for the roto start to turn the engine over. Also, make sure that your roto start is good and charged.[8D] Another thing look at is the low speed needle, it should be flush with the collar around it. Normally they are set there from the factory but not always! The LSN on my SH .28 was 3 turns in from flush fresh out of the box. Needless to say, it wouldnt stay running for more than a few seconds. Hope this helps you out a bit![:D]

RE: clutch spring
There should be a groove on the outside of the shoes for the spring to go in. However, if it just popped off then it's probably broken. You can either get a Traxxas spring for it (4146x I think) or bend out the last coil of the spring out to from a loop to hook the other end of the spring on.

RE: Axial 32 Spec 1s carb
If you look near the base of the carb there will be a small nut or allen screw. All you need to do is get the appropriate tool and loosen the screw then gently twist the carb while lifting up on it, don't force it! Once you have the carb off simply turn it around and gently slip it back into the opening, now apply firm but gentle downward pressure (to compress the o-ring) and tighten the screw back up, not too tight though! Maybe 1/4 turn past snug should work. Hope this helps![:D] Does anybody know why all engines come with the carb on backward anyway?

RE: what is afterrun oil?
ORIGINAL: ehroof so what your saying is that i should by some generic non phosphate free $5 anitfreeze to put in them so i can pit the aluminum in the block, i see, that makes great sense, then i can spend over $15,000 to replace or repair the engine instead of buying the correct stuff, you see in my opinion i would rather spend a few bucks now than much more later, i would rather not be penny wise and dollar foolish.
I also have a vehicle with an aluminum block and heads and guess what... You don't need to spend $40 on a gallon of anitfreeze. You can buy Dex-Cool (you know, the orange stuff that GM uses) it only costs $16 per gallon, and is phosphate free. If General Motors will mass produce cars and trucks with this "lesser quality" coolant in them (inclucing their high performance models with aluminum engine blocks) why can't you use it in your fancy foreign car? Is it because it's foreign, or because that is what you were told is the only thing that will work? Maybe they are just milking you for money. Who's beeing foolish now? I'm not trying to pick a fight here, just stating a fact. There is other options out there that will save you money and do the exact same thing. I agree with everybody else who said that ARO is not absolutely necessary. You can use WD40, 10w30 (if thats your flavor!) Marvel Mystery Oil or just about any other type of oil when your done running for the day. Now everybody go have a drink and calm down!
