RE: Falcon 40 (Exceed heli) Forum
I've got a coupon code for 10% off of any on-line order at Horizon Hobby. The code expires 15 November. If anyone is placing an order, just PM me and I'll give you the code. Ken

Max...The parts look the same to me as well. They are the same exact pictures~! You can order the entire CNC kit from East Coast Hobbies and save $19.42 minus S/H over what you could from Xheli. If someone orders CNC parts for their V2 let the rest of us know. I'm thinking of getting one just to have the 2.4 system and I can use the majority of my spare parts. Ken

RE: Falcon 40 (Exceed heli) Forum
Was comparing replacement parts between Falcon 40 and Falcon 40 V2...out of the 33 stock replacement parts that can be purchased for original, only 13 parts are different. They are: main rotor blades, canopy, tail rotor blade, flybar paddles, battery holder, lipo, frame, receiver, charger, landing gear, rotor head, crytals, and transmitter. That leaves 20 of the same parts: including main motor, servos, bearings, bars, and gears. The V2 does have 4 optional CNC parts that you can purchase: rotor head[:D], blade holders, swashplate, and guiding ring. Enjoy~! Ken

RE: Falcon 40 (Exceed heli) Forum
I use the 7.4V 2000mAh Common Sense lipo. They make great batteries and I get 15-18 minutes of flight time plus the larger battery fits nicely without having to add weight to the nose for CG issues. My local hobby shop carries them but I would think most are the same inside. http://www.commonsenserc.com/product_info.php?products_id=47

RE: Falcon 40 (Exceed heli) Forum
Went out flying yesterday afternoon...half way through a pack, doing some FFF, the wind caught me during a banked turn. Let's just say a Falcon 40 can not FLY inverted~! I tried to recover but all I could do was watch it drop 40 ft. Busted frame and canopy but all else is well. Good thing I've got spare parts ready to go. The metal flybar and CNC head make this one tough machine! Since going to these parts I hardly break anything. The M24 blades?...cleaned the clay off of them and they're ready to go. Hope everyones flying this weekend was a little more relaxing. Ken

RE: Falcon 40 (Exceed heli) Forum
My 2 cents...for those who are struggling with your set-up on your Falcon. For me, the two biggest differences were the Super Skids and the main blades. I use the Kyosho Caliber M24 EP Main Rotor Blades. I bought mine from this guy on Ebay. Just for kicks I went back to the stock blades...What a difference~!!! The stock blades made it feel unstable where the M24s give it much needed stability. I am a true believer when it comes to these blades. I've broken frames, a tail boom, wore out a main gear and have went through 3 motors...all with the same set of blades. You will not believe the difference. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=370272742538&ssPageName=ADME:B:SS:US:1123

Just bought two of the Xtreme Direct Drive Tail Ready Packs. The seller accepted $12.55 +S/H. He has 3 more for sale. I'll post once I get a chance to use them. I like my current GWS DD tail motor but hope these will give me more authority. http://cgi.ebay.com/Xtreme-Direct-Drive-Tail-Ready-Pack-For-Honey-Bee-FP-CP_W0QQitemZ370268046328QQcmdZViewItemQQptZRadio_Control_Parts_Accessories?hash=item5635b203f8&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

Thanks Guys...I cranked up my Real Flight Sim and tried some forward trim and throttle adjustment during FFF. I felt that puttting a SMALL amount for forward trim in was the most managable for my skill level. Adjusting the throttle is tricking when transitioning out of FFF...nobody ever said this was easy. Thanks Again, Ken

RE: Falcon 40 (Exceed heli) Forum
Just got back from a flying two packs at a new field. My first time out flying FF. I had a blast...two packs and no broken parts~!!! Now for my question. The heli is perfectly balanced and trimmed for hovering but while flying fast forward she has a tendency to pitch up. It takes constant nose down input to keep her straight while flying FF. Is this normal? If so, is there anything I can do to tame her down? Trim...balance? Ken

RE: Falcon 40 (Exceed heli) Forum
Finally got my Falcon back in the air. Flew 4 packs..flies like a dream. Now for my DD question. Ever since I took my Falcon out of the box, she has always flown right side low. Once I went to the DD tail I set the tail motor facing down slightly. Ever since then she has flown straight and level however, I have the same vibration as above...is there anything that I can do to fix the tilt with the tail motor sitting horizontal?

RE: Falcon 40 (Exceed heli) Forum
Has anyone sucessfully converted their Falcon to a 2.4 Ghz system? A buddy of mine is thinking about it but we're both unsure of how to go about it. Also, do you have to go brushless for this type of conversion? He's currently using Spectrum components in his other heli. Thanks, Ken Also, Xheli has free shipping until 9/09/09. Code:XHELI999. I know...I use Michael as well (He's great) but if you only need 1-2 parts, free shipping is free shipping~!!!
ORIGINAL: karlik Spray some contact cleaner from Radio Shack on the brushes every 10 to 20 flights then run the motor a minute or two. Actually, cleaning applies to the factory motor too.
Do you spray the contact cleaner then wait until it dries out to run it up OR do you run it while you're spraying it and run it until it's dry?

RE: Falcon 40 (Exceed heli) Forum
ORIGINAL: karlik I'm not sure I would recommend the 380, but it does work fine. It's just a lot of power you don't need yet. It's main claim is replaceable brushes, but those don't wear as fast as we think. I got mine as a Chrsitmas present. I'm honestly not sure if I would buy one, or stay factory. If I was in your spot with those as my only options, it would be a tough decision. I'm sure there's something like the century still out there, it's just a question of ''do I want to use factory'' until something better shows up? I'm not telling you don't buy it, just give it thought and make your own decision and don't let me sell you one. (edit) - If it was still avail, the slo-max Jim uses would be a better choice. I want to replace my worn pinion on my slo-max. The main gear is slightly worn as well, so figure I would replace both. Which pinion should I use, .4 or .5 module? I know 2mm shaft is correct. http://search.horizonhobby.com/index.jsp?sid=1229620A5085&R=EFLM207+EFLM1951&oqs=N%253D0%2526Ns%253Dp_sellingprice%25257c0%2526Ntk%253Dprimary%2526Ntt%253D10T%2526Ntx%253Dmode%252Bmatchallpartial%2526Nty%253D1%2526D%253D10T%2526Dp%253D10%2526Dk%253D1%2526Dx%253Dmode%252Bmatchallpartial I also could use a little more from my DD tail. Have adjusted but still not the ump I would like. Would changing from a 10T on main pinion help? If so, which direction should I go. I fly with the M24s which are pretty flat. Any help would be great. Thanks as always. Ken

RE: Walkera #4 Fixed Pitch Helicopter Forum
A quick update... no spinning during a full pack. Not sure what fixed my problem but I changed batteries in transmitter, replaced capacitor on tail motor, and replace tail motor wires. Of course this was only one pack. Will try to fly a couple more tomorrow. Thanks to everyone who passed along great ideas.

RE: Walkera #4 Fixed Pitch Helicopter Forum
Its spinning to the right. The tail motor seems to be actuated at full power. Sometimes only a quick 180 or it lasts up to 5 seconds. If I'm not near trees I just usually wait it out.

RE: Walkera #4 Fixed Pitch Helicopter Forum
Hi Guys, I've posted this on the Falcon 40 forum but everyone seems to be on vacation..so here's my problem...while I'm flying, my heli starts spinning uncontrollably until I crash or for about 5 seconds. It has happened numerous times and I'm at a loss. It sounds like the tail is being powered at full power. Sometimes it will only do a quick 180 and then be fine...talk about flying by the seat of your pants! I've got the DD tail on it. No extra wiring except a fuse mod so not sure what the problem could be. I know intereference but I'm not really near anything when I'm flying. Any suggestions by anyone would be helpful. I don't mind breaking parts when it's my fault but this is getting frustrating.

Frame change is done, just waiting on thread lock to dry. I put new batteries in transmitter and replaced capacitor on tail motor while I was down. I hope one of those help my spinning problem. If someone knows of something I could try... let me know. I'll pass on results when I get back in the air.

Have a question about capacitors. I am using the GWS CN12-RXC DD tail motor. http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&W=001718538&I=LXHHF7&P=K My wonderful soldering skills (not) has "melted" the capacitor. The tech notes at Tower says the motor comes with a pre-installed 104 micro Farad capacitor. Is this something that I could get at Radio Shack? If so... what would be their equivalent?
