75MHz PK-FSM Synthesized Module - for AM?
As the title says-can it? I've searced for answers but none point to the usage of these modules for AM receivers (or otherwise). The product picture shows the module to NOT have any indication of specific band use (ie FM or AM). Neither does the product description give a clue. So can this module be used on an AM (Futaba) receiver?

Maxamps 2500 TX pack
Hi Maxamps, I just bought a Futaba 3PK and I'm in the market for a good lipo - and the Maxamps 2500mAh looks good. Some questions : 1) The picture of this pack in the Maxamps website shows what looks like open wires (no plugs). Will the pack come with a male Futaba plug? 2) Does the second plug option serve as a plug from which I charge the pack? 3) Does this pack need a balancing plug? Thanks for reading-hope to get some answers! By the way I love the two 6000HV packs i got from you guys! N

AM conversion module-75MhZ?
I just got myself a 3pk super - and im in the market for an AM module. Tower and a couple of other online sellers sells them but i am very confused...hence some questions which I hope I can get answers from..... 1) Tower lists the item as .."27 and 75 AM Transmitter module" .... but the picture they put as a module bearing a '27MHz' label. Does this mean that this item can be used for the 27 as well as 75 AM bands? Ive searched quite a lot online and NOBODY has a picture of a 75MHz AM module (even the Futaba website doesnt have it!). Every pic I saw was a pic of the 27MHz version...... 2) Tower sells these modules based on 'frequency availablity' .... does this mean that I absolutely have to buy the exact module with the corresponding frequency of my receiver....? Or is it possible to change frequencies (within the same band of course) with a single AM module? thanks for reading [:(]
like rymansl2 said a slipper is recommended to ease the strain on the drivetrain. in my durga i have a brushless motor which is equivalent of a 10T motor and im having a bang (literally) driving it purely on road. just make sure you watch the wear on the slipper and tighten your diffs real tight. check out the durga build threads here at rcuniverse. my build thread might have answers about your question about parts exchangability between the durga and the trf501x.

RE: My 1st Belt Driven Tamiya - Durga DB-01
I think Maxamp lipos have the nicest design. The 6000HV fits snugly, but I'm using the TA05 battery posts and I had to make some modifications - I had to unscrew the front post to make it sit higher, and lock it with another nut at the base to stabilize the post (since unscrewing the post will unseat it further from the mounting hole). I had no problems with the rear post though. My runtimes now are limited not by how much amps the pack has, but how hot my motor gets. Usually 10 - 13 minutes of me playing is all it takes to hit 100degC @ the motor!

RE: My 1st Belt Driven Tamiya - Durga DB-01
Durga damage list so far for me (for planning of shopping list for durga owners): 1) Two 48P 91T Spur gears (#51314) 2) Diff Holder (#53988) 3) Front dish wheels The front dish wheels will get wobbly over time - because the mounting hole will not fit snugly over the drive shafts due to wear. the rears are still ok. The belts are still tight so far. Spur gear is a big headache. I've stripped two already because the motor mount screws were too loose the first time. The second one is also due to a loosened motor screw, but that was probably because of a big collision I had with a concrete wall. The screws that secure the drivetrain covers are quite worn. Thinking of going for an upgraded hex screw set. Wing is torn at one side. Dirt Hawgs are holding up well, perhaps 50-60% tread left. Not bad at all. Slipper pads (#54027) are shockingly worn down. i say shockingly because i tightened the slipper quite tight with minimal slip. when i took the spur gear off, there were LOTS of slipper pad powder accumulating at the slipper discs! lol. Wonder if anyone has damaged other parts of their Durga?
ORIGINAL: Echelon Do you have to replace the standard diff balls with ceramic balls if you put a fast brushless system in the Durga? Like LRP 5.5 or Mamba max 6900kv? Or do you just have to thread lock the diff's screw? (ceramic balls are expensive, for only tiny balls)
hi echelon seems like the normal balls will do. the part that will give way first (as mine did) are the diff pulleys. i have not treadlocked the diff screws yet - but my experience with trying to unscrew threadlocked screws tells me that it probably will help in locking the screw better. yea ceramic balls (tamiya) are very expensive! i have two packs still unopened. bad purchase! for the record i just popped in my old front diff at the rear..... and trashed the damaged one.
hi casualrcer, my recommendation: NO. the durga is quite technical in its design and maintainance (if you break a lot of parts) is quite a chore-so much that it might put you off having actual driving fun. i suggest u to get a shaft-driven instead if youre starting out on 4wd buggies (which i might add, is a lot more fun than touring cars!) RE: Official Dark Impact Thread
ORIGINAL: Vyger Thank you everyone for the kind words about my BLING THING. I decided to go with the DF03 over the Durga for a few reasons. I personally like the feel of a shaft drive car over a belt drive car. I also wanted something that was basic to build and set up. I've had to many cars in the past that I've had to spend four hours setting up to run four batteries. That isn't the type of fun ratio that I was shooting for. Plus I made my decision based on how the car was going to end up. As I mentioned this is only Phase 1, my ultimate goal is to add the 3Racing components to the car to build a very tough, reliable and nice looking car...plus it's very easy to maintain. This is a huge plus to me. In my opinion the Durga looks a little over engineered. I can't say if it's an easy build or easy to set up...I don't own one. But it looks to me like the car requires to much attention with regards to maintenance. Don't get me wrong, I think Tamiya did a good job dumbing down the 501X, but if you take a Durga and "Hop it up" to it's fullest potential the cost is comparable to a 501X, so why not just start there. My reason for that is I don't like running saddle pack batteries. I hope that helps…it’s just my two cents for what it’s worth. L8's Brian
I have both the DI and the Durga, and while the Durga may be more 'race-ready' (or so people say) than the DI, I personally like the latter more, based on looks. I just love the way it looks ready to prance. The Durga looks flat and more sedate. Maintenance wise, it's very difficult to say if the Durga will cost more, as I run either car whenever i feel like it. But from my observations, while the belt-driven Durga is smoother at the drivetrain sections than the DI, a lot more heat is inevitably produced in the former. I dont like this as I believe this is wasted energy, converted to heat. I dont know if this has any correlation to the fact that my Durga heats up faster than my DI when I run the cars (both are with a MM5700, and a Lipo 5350mah). But you kinda got it right...it's a LOT more work dismantling the drivetrain on the Durga than on a DI. It's at least 12 screws to turn to just inspect either differential on the Durga, while it's 5 or 6 on the DI. And the Durga body is very tough, which is a good thing for durability, but not so if youre screwing and unscrewing out of it. Want to change the pinion of your DI? No problem. 5-6 screws to unscrew, and the freaky Tamiya supplied L-hex driver is all you need. For the Durga its 8 screws ...and you gotta have a grub driver and a good source of light if you do not want to spend a lot of time trying to aim the bottom motor hex screw. I spent almost the same amount on my Durga hopping the thing up than what I would have spent on a race-ready-out-of-the-box TRF501X. But if I ever bought a TRF501X it will be just sitting pretty on my shelf! Good idea on the toughening up of your DI - but try not to limit your parts to just 3Racing. Consider the more expensive, made-in-Japan DI parts if they are available. You get what you pay for IMO. For the record my 3Racing CF shock towers are still holding up well, but the CF front brace I have managed to break TWICE in non-violent encounters with a wall and a kerb, and the aluminum steering knuckles are a bit too soft (and brittle at a certain point). I would gladly pay for good quality aluminium parts or quality resin-reinforced plastics hop ups...but so far im lucky enough not to break anything else on my DI to have the need to go shopping for these lol!

RE: New batteries
eh? i thought i saw this post someplace else? lol how will your 7 cell humppack look like? because the durga's body above where the battery lies is quite low lying....you might want to consider that first.....it might just fit though but im guessing...... my durga is slightly off balance, its heavier at the left side (with a lipo at the right side already). but for my application (non-competitive) i think it wont make much of a difference. my driving sucks too much for weight unbalance to be a factor lol
