Failsafe issue with ttx650 and 624 rx
There are a few of us new ttx650 users who seem to be having an issue with failsafe on the 624rx and ttx650. 2 of us have had the timer run down on our tx and when it powers off our planes they go to full throttle? The only thought I had is it has something to do with the throttle channel having to be reversed(similar to futaba)? My thought is that this could be addressed with software update to tx? The other user said he checked failsafe which originally worked fine, but after a few flights this same issue also happened to bim. Anyone have similar issue or know what is causing this? Thank you.

RE: Tactic TTX 650
ORIGINAL: blurted Tower has an offer of two free receivers when you buy the TTX650, just received the email today. I have been using my TTX650 for a little over a month now. The only problem I have with the radio is the timer function. The first time I use the timer for a model, I have to flick the switch twice to get the timer to start. I am sure this issue can be resolved with an update to the firmware. I am really enjoying this radio and all it offers for the price.
Don't know if you are flying electric? If so you can set it to your throttle. This works great since it starts when you advance throttle so you don't have to worry about using a switch.

RE: What's your favorite charger?
I would personally contact David at Progressive RC. He sells FMA and Icharger (what I bought). He can steer you in the right direction for what your charging needs and budget allow. If you need to get a power supply jrplane (on rcgroup) and others sell some great computer server supplies ready to go that work great for powering your charger on your bench. Good luck.

RE: 3ch going to 4ch
I would agree with all said above about flying site size. Another good 4 channel to look at is the Parkzone t-28 (not micro). It is a cross between a trainer and sport type of plane. You can take landing gear off and easily hand launch. It flies slow and stable if you want or fast and aerobatic. It is a great all around plane. You could also look at the Parkzone Wildcat whiich is a little smaller in size than t-28. I was worried about going to 4 channel, but it is IMHO easier than just the 3 channels. I also woudl put the ailerons on the right stick where you had the rudder (use a mode 2 transmitter). Hope this helps.

If you add some planes to the mix then you will probably find more people to hang out with by locating a rc flying field nearby or park that others fly in. By your location this club looks like it might be close: http://www.tylermodelers.com/ You could still keep the surface vehicles and vary what you are doing so you don't jus do the same thing each time. RE: New at the hobby! need lots of advice!
Not to throw a wrench in the mix, but I started with Super Cub, and now have moved to the Parkzone T-28. It is a fantastic plane (faster, much more aerobatic). If you haven't bought a new plane yet you may want to take a look at it as a second plane. Either way good luck with all of your upcoming flying

RE: what 4 channel trainer eletric trainer to buy
Not that it isn't a great plane, but I would not go with the Sensei. I started with this one, had a crash and damaged the foam cowl and motor mount. To get another motor mount you have to buy a whole new fuselage (almost price of new plane) and the foam cowl has been unavailable for 3+ months. It is a nice plane, just not good parts support for a trainer. I would go with a trainer that you can easily get replacement parts for in case of any mishaps Not sure if this is your second plane (moving from 3 channel?) but I would 2nd the Parkzone t-28. It flies stable like a trainer but can also do alot more. I started with a super cub and now I'm on t-28 as my 2nd plane. Good Luck.

RE: Spektrum AR8000 useless without satellite
HOUNDDOG I have got to ask this of you. Not trying to provoke you, but I have to ask this of you. I come on the forums on a regular basis and I notice that you frequently comment in threads that have anything to do with Spektrum. All of your post are "bashing" their products etc... I understand that you may be loyal to another brand , but I'm having a hard time understanding all of this? I'm a beginner, I use a spektrum (which works great for me), the field I go to almost everyone uses JR/Spektrum, and to answer before you ask, these are not foamies, there are giant scale planes of all types, which cost 1k plus. I had looked at alot of radios when I bought mine, the Spektrum was just a better fit (price, help at the field, bind and fly options, etc...), if someone else has another brand radio or plane etc... I think it is fine. All the brands are good, if someone is happy with their brand then GREAT! Please help me to understand why all the bashing of Spektrum? It takes alot of time to post, and read the forums. Instead of all the negative posting wouldn't the time be better spent flying or building? Just some questions/thoughts. Have a good day!

RE: Has anyone scaled up a Guillow kit for glow or electric?
don't know if this will help, but in the latest issue of electric flight there is an article about an indoor fly in (I think in IL). In the article there is one picture with a caption about the guy modifying a FF kit (believe it is Guillow) to electric. It had the name of the pilot so it might be a start. Good Luck

RE: Anyone use this charger?
I couldn't get a link to come up so I'm not sure which charger you are asking about. I'm new to the hobby as well, but I have learned pretty quickly that you may want to purchase a good quality charger (same with radio) that if you have a problem you can get service for. I know there are several threads on a couple of brands that seem to do well: FMA ICharger Thunder Power Hyperion I also see that Dynamite has a 200watt 10 amp charger coming out (Ultra force) that is going to be $150, but that is with a built in 200W power supply, most of the other models only have 50w built in. It might cost a little more, but if you can spend extra get a good charger, highest amp charge rate you can afford if you plan on staying in the hobby. Same with radio system. Good Luck

RE: Lost a plane today
ORIGINAL: Luchnia You guys that have trouble with your JR/Spektrum stuff are more than welcome to send them to me as I will take that trouble off your hands and that will end your problems with that garbage. I will take AR7000, 8000, R921s, the radios etc. You know you are bound to lose a plane with that junk. I will take them all and would even consider paying shipping charges for those bad devices that are browning out on you. This is a good solution and will rid you of those pesky JR/Spektrum problems. Why fight it? Just do it. Move over to Futaba and be happy and I will deal with the faulty JR/Spektrum junk that is costing you all those headaches and crashing your planes. The best way to rid yourselve of this serious problem is to get rid of the troubled items and you know you don't want to sell those defective componants to any fellow pilot KNOWING that he/she would have the same problems as you are having now would you? I will put it in writing that I will not sell the componants to any fellow pilot as long as they are validated defective by my research and testing. Why take the chance on losing any aircraft that cost thousands to such defective devices? I am here to help you out of this dilemma the easy way and save you much hardship, grief, and lots of hard earned money. [8D]
Luchnia, I really feel bad that you are going to take all of this risk by yourself. I would feel much better and sleep safer at night if I were to help you with all the junk equipment from JR/Spektrum that anyone wants to get rid of. I will also pay shipping on any of these radios and recievers that anyone needs to unload

Hey JN, Glad to see more people taking up flying in the area. I live just down the road in Holly Springs. My son and I were into the electric trucks, but now I'm jumping into flight as well. If you haven't checked out any local clubs yet you should definitely come by SWAMPS that was posted above: http://swampsrc.org/ Great group of people, everything flies there from smaller to giant scale (nitro and electric). Very private field, and if you decide to join you can fly anytime you want. Good Luck. Jason

RE: Charger for 3.7v micros to 11.1v+ lipo's.
I'm no expert, but I have been researching chargers alot. I do know if you are going to charge 4 batteries at once (parallel) using something like the paraboard then you have to have a charger with enough amp output. Lets say you charge 4 11.1 each being 2200 mah. That would be 2.2 (1C charge rate) x 4 = 8.8 amps you would need to charge them at the same time. Also, you need to look at the watts a charger is running on. For parallel charging you wouldn't want a 50 watt type of charger. You should really look at 200+ watt type of chargers. Most of the higher watt chargers are only DC so you will need an external power supply. If you want to go to 4S packs in the future then your amp output on your charger will need to be even more. Bottom line is buy the biggest (most amps) charger and power supply you can afford. You need at least a 10amp charger, but if you can afford it I would go with at least 15amp or more since you can grow with it. Here are some decent examples to look at. There is information on the rc forums about the brands. http://www.usastore.revolectrix.com/Products_2/Cellpro-Chargers_2 http://epbuddy.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=17_20&zenid=s6g6asgopnkhve6p71vien4n77 http://www.progressiverc.com/chargers Also this one is coming out soon, not bad for a ac/dc model http://www.horizonhobby.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/SearchCmd?searchKeyword=ultraforce&filterTerm=&searchType=productgrid Good luck

RE: Do you remember being a beginner???
I'm just starting out with a Super Cub. Joined a great club with very helpful people. I was able to buddy box and do well, later that day soloed with another member close by. All went good. Couldn't wait to get back to the field so got my honey do list done early on a Saturday and rushed back to the field. No one really there yet, so I thought " a little more wind than yesterday". Got up and around then did alot wrong, plane came at me and I ducked, plane hit post (mind you on a field that is very open). Easily repaired, but two other members and myself got a good laugh out of having to duck from my own plane. Can't wait to go again this weekend!

RE: Futaba has been busy lately.....
ORIGINAL: Dick T. My purpose in starting this thread was to inform folks of a new mid-priced, feature laden system coming from Futaba. I think they are hitting all the price and feature points in the radio marketplace very well. Brand wars seem to be the norm here on RCU as many fellows get their knickers in a knot as soon as someone says they like brand A, B or C, etc. Well get over it guys, buy and fly what you like and move past the mine is bigger than yours huffing and puffing. I’ve been flying RC since the mid 60’s and owned radios many of you probably have never heard of. Some worked great, some were plain junk. Today’s systems are a model of features and reliability not heard of even 20 years ago. Unfortunately the marketing race to outdo one another has brought some systems to market that weren’t quite ready which some customers paid heavily for. Fortunately the manufacturers stood behind their error and brought fixes on line quickly. I am impressed with new systems entering our hobby marketplace and enjoy reading about working features and learning how others are putting them to use. If anyone feels it is wrong to inform others about something new in the market, I suggest they go to another thread or forum as I am not interested in reading about the size of one’s gonads. Currently I own top end Futaba gear and mid-level Spektrum. I have owned JR PCM in the past but nothing in their 2.4 line up. It will be interesting to read about JR’s new DSMM line which is not DSM2/DSMX compatible and where that product line will find a home in the U.S.
Very well said !

RE: multy pack charger
I don't have one, but I have been reading on higher output chargers. I think the highest amp out right now is the powerlab 8 http://www.revolectrix.com/pl8_description_tab.htm You would need a big power supply for this, but you could do that and then get a parallel charge board to do multiple packs of same size/charge state at the same time. Could also do large packs with this. I agree that the charge rates etc... are only going to get faster/better so getting a bigger charger is probably the way to go. Good Luck.

RE: Charger and battery compatibility help.
I'm not an "expert" but I have been using lipo's and charger for over a year. It looks like that battery will be fine with that charger. You just have to make sure the charger can do the NIMH packs (this one does) since that is what type of battery you are looking at. One word of advice, I don't know if you will want to do lipo packs in your equipment in the future, but this charger doesn't do lipo. Most of the decent lipo capable chargers can also charge the type of battery you are wanting to buy. If you can afford to spend a little more on a charger I would get one that can do all types of batteries, that way if you do get other batteries you won't need to buy another charger. Since you are looking at Duratrax brand the next step up that does all types of batteries is this one. http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXTCK1&P=7 There are other brands of chargers that also do all the battery types. It just depends on how much you want to spend. Hope this helps.

Steve, If you have a Futaba transmitter like the 6J will you be able to fly the transmitter ready models that work with the AnyLink system? I know the AnyLink uses a tactic receiver, I was just unclear if the Futaba transmitter works directly with the tactic receivers or you will still need the AnyLink on a 6J to fly the transmitter ready models, not a bad thing since with both 6J and AnyLink there will hopefully be alot of planes to fly Thank You.
