RE: Carb vs. venturi & exhaust throttle
Thanks, that’s why I got the 40" Deep V for FUN running. I have 2 tunnels for racing (K&B 3.5 & 7.5) and the lake I practice on is way to choppy and busy so I keep crashing. I wanted something that could handle a bit of chop and still do 40 to 50mph. (hard to get away from speed when you run tunnels! Ps. tell Gerry I fixed his "Sea Hawk" and ran it with both 24" and 28" sponsons... wicked... Can I use the carb from my K&B 7.5 OB on this Inboard 6.5?

RE: Carb vs. venturi & exhaust throttle
Thanks for the info, I will try it as is. But your saying I could simply switch it over to a carb arrangement, correct? if so, can I just throw on a PERRY CARBURETOR for K&B 6.5/7.5CC for example? any suggestions on a carb? or should I forget about it and get a new engine? in other words, is it worth messing around with an antique motor? Thanks, Pete

Carb vs. venturi & exhaust throttle
Hi, Just got a v-hull with an old K&B 6.5 / .40 with a venturi and throttle exaust. Wondering what the pros and cons are versus a carb. I've never had this type of arrangement. I need some educating here, Anyone? Thanks. Pete

<![if gte mso 9]> Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 <![endif]><![if gte mso 9]> <![endif]><![if gte mso 10]><![endif]> JD, I have 5 sets of sponsons both 24” and 28” and yes some are not flat. I’m attempting to drill tiny spaced out holes in them and fill them with construction foam in a can so it fills the hollows and makes them sturdier but not heavier. I managed to fiberglass and rubberize the center piece, fix the sponsons, use the VS1 fuel tank and still manage to keep it under 5lbs (4lbs 2oz without fuel). I’m trying it out tomorrow for the first time, I will keep you up-dated. Pete

Great, so if my boat is heavier I'm most likley better to use a 3 blade prop and if lighter a 2 blade. Great info, Thanks

Thanks All, I think I will try the X447 (conservative) to start and try the P230 to see the difference.

Adjusting prop height on tunnel hulls
Jerry, on your old "Hawk Signature Series" What height should I adjust my PROP center line with the bottom of the hull? I used to own a real shovel nose and the center line of the prop used to be in-line with the bottom of the boat so half the prop would spin in air and the other half in the water. I have never done it on a tunnel hull and there is air between the sponsons!?!?! Please let me know your thoughts, Thanks, Pete

K&B 3.5 engine
Hi all, I have a K&B 3.5 engine modified with tune pipe, it looks like I'm missing the tail piece. The large part of the exaust is 4.25" long (fron U elbow) and the outlet is 3/8" (10mm) ID. Anyonw know what the outlet size for a 3.5 should be? Also there is a conection in the engine block (looks like and is the same size as the water cool conections on the head) and I have a conection on the muffler (for the gas tank I guess) anybody know what the conection on the block is for? Any help would be greatly appriciated, Thanks, Pete
