RE: engine
your flywheel is slipping... mine did the same thing. The clutch nut had so much threadlock it was never able to be tightened down far enough... remove the nut, flywheel and brass collet... clean the threads on the crank shaft and replace everything, using only a dab of threadlock. That fixed my problem right away

RE: Vulcan SE help
I had a similar problem. In my case they put so much threadlock on the clutch nut that it could not be fully tightened. So after a few tanks my flywheel was loose. The end result is that the crankshaft is spinning fast but the flywheel is slipping. Add the clutch to that and you now have a dual clutch system = no power transfer. To cure this I had to remove the clutch nut, clean the threads and add just a dab of thread lock. Now tighten and your flywheel should be secure.

RE: Kalamazoo Fun Run 5.0 preview
I want to thank everybody that helped me get my Swamp Buggy going. It was a good time. I was really interested in the wide variety of boat designs. I was even more impressed with how far some of you folks travelled and how helpful everyone was.

RE: Nitro vulcan question
check your needles... also check the idle set screw... when the throttle is closed, there should only be a gap opening of about 1 to 2 mm. Also make sure that the flywheel is tight on the crank shaft. You check this by holding the flywheel and the then start to pull the pullstart. You should not be able to stop the flywheel from turning. If you can, then that is your problem.

shipping to Canada
I have tried getting the 2 speed for my vulcan from my hobby shop and have had no luck. The canadian distributor seems to be having problems getting the parts. So, my question is, if I order the 2 speed from your website will you be able to ship to Canada? If so, how much will that cost me?

RE: Trainer on 7202
Thanks Danny and the others for your answers! It is clear to me now how to activate and to control it. However I have a couple of doubts regarding the modes of operation and the possibilities: (1) I see basically 2 different trainer modes: the Normal and the PilotLink (Master/Slave). I see that the main difference is that the normal mode requires that both TX will have the same settings (reverse, trim, sub-trip etc.), while with PilotLink it is determined by the Master TX, am I right so far? Is there any other difference between the two (besides of th ability to transfer a part of the functionality only with the PL mode)? (2) Is the PilotLink mode reserved only for 2 JR radios? What happens if the instructor insists on using another radio (like happened to me) with a special cable? It basically did not work, but most probably because I had no idea how to configure my XP7202 at that time. Should the PilotLink work with any JR radio (the instructor said he has, but it is not XP7202)? Thanks !

RE: Trainer on 7202
Thanks for all the answer. Concerning the rocker switch - which switch is it? I could not find any switch on my 7202 TX that behaves like that (i.e. goes back to its original position when you release). I know it's on page 71 but it is written for those who are already familiar with the concept. I am not, and therefore need some extra info that I do not know where to find. Thanks!

Trainer on 7202
Hi all, Sorry if this question sounds stupid, but I am new to this, and failed to get the info I need from the manual, so I am asking for your advise... I need to use my new 7202 in trainer mode, however I did not find any button on it to use for this purpose (for the teacher to take control). Is the 7202 normally serves as the master or the slave? What would be the recommended setup

RE: IRC Parts
My understanding from other forums is that the Kyosho half8 wheels will fit the vulcan no problem. In fact a lot of the suspension bits will fit it as well. You can do a search on ebay for mini inferno and you will find a ton of parts!

RE: carb settings
I think the 2.5 on the LSN is correct, but you can probably go lower than 4 on the HSN... You will need to adjust that one based on your environment... anywhere between 2 and 4 is acceptable. If you are having troubles keeping it running and/or starting there may be another issue. On mine the idle screw (the one that prevent the carb from closing all the way) was in too far... that meant the smallest opening in the carb at idle was large. Turn that screw out until your carb can close with a 1mm opening... this should be your idle condition. If this isnt clear then let me know and I will post a picture to illustrate.

RE: IRC vulcan SE problems
rc51racer0023, Check out the december issue of RC Car Action magazine. They have a review of the Vulcan and the writer had some tips on how to tweak your steering. Since you are getting new servos, this would be a good time to tune the sterring.

RE: IRC vulcan SE problems
I will come out and say that I like my Vulcan. I can't say it has been anywhere near perfect. It was my first RTR and will probably be my last RTR. In general it has a lot of good design features. However like most people I have found several shortcomings. 1) needle settings and idle stop are not set properly from factory. It took me forever to finally find good needle settings and the proper idle gap 2) I could not get the Vulcan to go very fast. Turns out the flywheel was loose. Remove flywheel, scrape excessive threadlock and retighten everything 3) I think my piston sleeve was not lined up right in the crankcase. 4) If you dont like the motor, upgrade it to the pico 5) Kyosho mini-inferno parts will fit on the Vulcan.. Upgrade with those. Find them on Ebay 6) Although it is an RTR, I dont think it is fit for a beginner. Had it been my first model I would have given up long ago. There is fun to be had with the Vulcan but unfortunately you need to know your stuff and have some wrenching experience. I have been reading the posts here and I feel that there is not very good support for the product. For me this is a shame because there are problems, but they are fixable. Mindcrime and RC-BOSS, I hope you can look into some of the issues I experienced and share the solutions with your customers and your assembly people. Maybe this way the product can be improved and customers can be happy with this product.

RE: Welcome IRC Racing
Not to insult IRC or anything, but I think their manufacturing and assembly could be better. I had a similar problem with my Vulcan SE. If I were you I would check your flywheel. On mine the flywheel was loose and because of that I was not transferring any power to the wheels. The reason this happened was because when the clutch nut was installed they used an excessive amount of threadlock. This basically made the clutch nut appear to be tight but was not really putting a lot of pressure on the flywheel. with time the Flywheel worked its way loose of the cone washer. To check for this, try holding the flywheel and then slowly pull the pullstart. If the flywheel doesnt move this is your proble. To fix: remove clutch nut, scrape off threadlock from threads, clean flywheel and the shaft and the collet, reinstall collet and flywheel, add a drop or thread lock to the clutch nut and reinstall and tighten. If you dont know how to do this, go to your hobby shop and ask them to do it for you. Also, if you know what you are doing, remove the heatsink and make sure the piston sleeve is lined up proper in the crank case.
