RE: Driveshafts?
I'm running the Stampede shafts. They are a little bit shorter than the Axials. They don't get much bite between the shaft halves, but it works OK
ORIGINAL: bart4u Hi I am having a problem with my motor set up I am using the Turnigy 42 50A 700 motor in my Eratix plane with a Turnigy 80 Plush ESC. The prop I am using is 14x7. Without the prop the motor works fine. When the prop is put on at 3/4 power I get a screeching sound and the motor shuts off. I am using a 4S 2200 battery. The motor is not rubbing on anything. Can anyone give me some help to make this run. Thanks
It sounds like an ESC timing issue to me. I had the same problem with my eEratix. Just change your ESC timing and give it another try. I am running the Eflite 60A pro ESC with a Power 32 motor and 13*6.5 prop. I bought my ESC second hand, but as soon as I changed the timing all problems went away and I've been flying it carefree ever since.
ORIGINAL: eaterofdog
ORIGINAL: newjak Well, you can't run brand name lipos flat either or pull to many amps or abuse them. This lame argument gets played out over and over in many forums. The part about them not lasting long heavily depends on how you treat them. I have over 40 different lipos in use right now between airplanes ,helis, cars/trucks some are over 3 years old

RE: Has anybody had any experience with one of these lipos?
ORIGINAL: eaterofdog As far as buying cheap lipos go, they can be a good deal for some people. You'll need to be careful to never run them to flat and to never pull too many amps, cheap lipos won't take any abuse. And you should be willing to make solder repairs as the balance leads will eventually break off. Otherwise they will be fine for a while. They only last half as long as good cells, but they cost 1/4 - 1/3 as much.
Well, you can't run brand name lipos flat either or pull to many amps or abuse them. RE: new VXL rustler LVC help
A 3S lipo should be at or very close to 12.6 volts at full charge. Either your charger or the pack itself is faulty if your at 11.8 volts after only 10 seconds.

RE: short range in stampede
ORIGINAL: 1maxdude Yeah, probably, get out your manual and figure out how to disable your low voltage cutoff. You say the batteries are good? If they are nickel metals and less than stellar, they could be getting sucked down while under acceleration to the point that would trigger the low voltage cutoff. Or, it could be a faulty speed controller. I seem to read alot about the vxl lvc not functioning properly, I don't own one personally.
I have a couple of VXL's and the LVC sucks real bad! I disabled mine and run my trucks without it and just monitor my runtime (3S) or use my 2S lipo alarm

You didn't mention what battery you're running. If you are still able to steer than you are not out of radio range. Sounds more like the VXL LVC issue.

RE: Recommended Lipo for Rustler/Stampede VXL
I've never run just a single 2200 lipo. To answer your question yes you can do it , but I don't think it will be able to supply the amps that the motor wants. The performance will most likely suffer and you don't want to overstress your lipo.
ORIGINAL: Druss
ORIGINAL: zsultan Can i use 2 X Thunderpower 3S 25C 2200mah connected in series for rustler vxl? What run times can i expect ? Thanks
NO and double NO... as already stated. That would be 22.2 volts. You can try and put them in parallel but man that would be big and bulky.
That is not entirely true. The weight of 2 2200 lipos together is aprox. the same as 6 cell pack. I run mine just like that and they fit perfectly in the battery bay. Only problem is you can no longer use the stock battery hold down. I put velcro straps on mine.

RE: E-Flite Mini Pulse XT Owner's Club
ORIGINAL: derek2005 Had a radio issue today. I was flying because the wind finally was not blowing, although it was cold. All was well until I lost radio contact. Luckily, the plane had some elevator and slight yaw and it just slowly circled to the ground. I thought that maybe my batery connection was bad, but no, it was fine. The ESC still had power, just no radio. Took it inside and all wires were still connected to the receiver, and the radio was now working?????? Any ideas?
I went through a similar situation with my MUS. I suspect it was a BEC overload and shutdown. My MUS went in from about 100 ft up. Since then it has been repaired and I now use a UBEC. Slowly but surely I am adding UBEC's to all of my planes that have more than 3 servos in use. It is totally worth it for the peace of mind.

RE: Posessed Rudder
Is your transmitter on when this is happening? Before you plug in the battery be sure that the transmitter is on first. Also try moving the transmitter away from the plane by a few feet and see if the glitching stops or is reduced. If no of those work you may have a problem with your electronics.

RE: Super slo-v
Superbike, I did pretty much the same thing to my Slo-V. It is now much more fun to fly than before. I did have to reenforce the main wing to take the extra stress put on it by the increased power. I was having so much fun with it that I forgot to reenforce the tail. One day while doing some loops and other stuff the tail snapped and caused it to crash. I rebuilt the tail out of coroplast. Much stronger than before

Sounds like your ESC is history. As stated earlier you have to test your motor with a known good ESC to see if the motor is still OK. When you get your replacement ESC insure that is is mounted in an area that will have some cooling airflow over it

Have you tried to test it since this happened? You may have hit thermal shutdown of the BEC. When you said it was burning up I'm sure you meant temperature wise and not actually on fire[X(]. I have never run my lipos down to the low voltage cutoff so I can't comment on that.

Over voltage on brushed motors is a sure way to shorten its life. You will enjoy an improvement in power, but be ready to buy a new motor. Brushed motor lifespan is short enough already.
