RE: funstar 3d?
I had one with a Saito 56. The knife edge coupling was bad, And the covering was so transparant, it was hard to see which way was up. Sold it after a few weeks

Yes I use an electric starter. The zenoah will out last the plane, and it runs very smooth. Ed

I used a cup mount with a Pitts muffler, no modifications were necessary to the firewall. The prop hub was perfect distance.

Dabrown The g 38 is perfect in my book, mine didn't require any added weight to balance. Plenty of power and fits the plane well. Ed

I know what you mean about the monokote, used to be Able to throw it on, shrink it and forget it. Now it's shrink is not very consistent from one color/roll to another. I used it on mine, but it sure takes more time than before. Ed

Grey beard, yes straightening a fin- rudder, stab-elevator with covering is much easier. In my case with thevuproar. It is a one piece straight wing. It was better to get it straight before covering. Just my thoughts

RE: Someone mentioned warped wing
Your weight and water is good, just shim it so it goes beyond straight, it will spring back slightly when you remove it after it dries. I somehow got a 1/4" twist in an uproar wing, I wet it down with glass plus and clamped it to the table. I put an 1/8" scrap piece of lite ply as a shim, it dried perfectly straight. You will get it. RE: Building a Dynaflite Super Decathlon
Willy, I used DuPont chroma base for my cowl, it is an automotive base/clear. I have to custom mix a lot of colors to match client logos and signs. I would be able to match most colors, but when you do for a living, you want your hobby to be easier. Some hardware stores can, can a custom color in an aerosol for you. Check with a hardware hank or ace. My local hardware hank offers that service. It may be worth a try. Ed

RE: Building a Dynaflite Super Decathlon
I own a sign company, so I used mono kote and then sign vinyl for all the decals, I know cheating. For painting the cowl, thai is why I went with black and white easy to match. Colors are more difficult. Good luck matching the paint. ED

RE: Goldberg Tiger Club
I will be starting on a Tiger 60 this fall, What modifications have others done? On my 40 size Tiger 2 , I clipped the wing, and removed some dihedral, and it flew like a pattern plane. It needed more rudder and elevator to my liking, so the 60 will get a modified tail. Attached is a picture of my Tiger 2, I had a bad hangar accident, I might try to get it back in the air too.

I just picked one up too. Is a 120 4stroke too much for it? A 16" prop would look really nice on the front of it. I also have a 91 4 stroke, it is a tough decision. Thanks in advance for any input. Ed

Kolbboer, What prop are you running on the g38. I have an 18-10. And just keeps going at an idle, if there is wind no problem, but no wind and it just keeps floating. Thank ed Also thanks for the comments, I see you can get seagull 120 wheel pants for 17.00 fiberglass and painted red. I think I will try those.

RE: Best prop for a G 38?
My Decathalon has a 18x10, and it doesn't want to slow down with it for landing, It is plenty fast and manueverable at 17pounds. and I usually fly it at 1/2-3/4 throttle. Since there are a lot of experienced guys answering already, would a 20x8 have a slower speed for landing for me? Thanks and don't mean to hijack this thread.

RE: Building a Dynaflite Super Decathlon
Got mine maidened today, the g38 has plenty of power, and it flew really nice. It flies like a scale plane. Rolls are smooth, loops are smooth, and very stable. It came in at 17 lbs, no extra weight with the g38. The rear servos are in the stock location, and the batteries and throttle servo are on the cg. I think the stock cg location is a little too far back, as it needed seven clicks of down elevator.. I will get some pictures later this week. Ed There are some build pictures on page 56.
