RE: 40% Yak bites the dirt/Video
Thats about as clean as it gets..Initially it looks minor. I am sure there were shock waves that created hidden damage into the wings and tail. How would a motor fair with a knock like that?

RE: 50cc vs 100cc 3d fear factor
Most will agree that a smoke system will burden a 50cc much more that a 100cc plane. If its a bit heavier and 3D's okay, you may end up with a plane that struggles in certain conditions once you add smoke.

I already have the EF 50cc Extra and the 74 inch Yak, but if one of my other 1.60 or 1.40 birds go in, I guess this will be an airframe to really consider [8D] I gues they'll have a vid soon, 'cause that is what sells us, a really well made vid, with 2-3 engine choices..

Likely not , it was just in another plane. same motor, servos, set up, but different antenna routing..

YS 140 swinging APC 18x6W, no weight yet. 1700- 6 volt nicads, 645's and 5645 dig. on the el. A real modest set up. Just wanted to keep all the junk out of the plane and not load up the wing. Its probably marginal power for it, but I've got a few other planes that are unlimited 3D ships. I think the radio hits were caused by running the antenns down the internal tube. It exits right

yep. just place on plan, tick off the wood with a pen at the angle needed and cut with a fine tooth saw, usually off plan ,so it does not get all messed up. then glue and pin in place (wax paper on the plans)

RE: Extra 260 27% Hangar 9er
I did maiden mine, but had bad radio hits on my trim circuit. the flying I did do, since it trimmed with in seconds, showed that its a clean, smooth aerobat that rolls and KE's without resistance. all lines were straight and held heading really well. Gonna swap out radio and try again. mine is really light,so hope the flight envelope is better than others.

I have another older spare JR FM radio, never had a hit or glitch on it, ever.. I used it on my new H9 extra 260 that is for general purpose flying. the maiden almost went to dust after 2 minutes, had 2 big hits on my trim circuits. i think i shat my pants on final aproach... ever notice that your servos double in speed when they get a glitch?? never had such a violent pitch and roll manouver in my life. I think I will ground all of my stuff for now..
ORIGINAL: helodrvr SRimer, Lets us know how that CRRC 40 works out. Might do that instead of an OS 1.60. If you could, post some pics of the motor and cowl after install. Thanks
besides fuel cost the OS 160 will outperform this 40 anyday. Its lighter and just flies better. there are some good torque imrovements on the gasser, down low. If you like to hover and give up other character, buy the gasser. Overall the OS is the winner INMO.

Work on the CG, max out the throws, bevel to bevel with at Least 60 % expo, once you have that, you can add differential mixing to clean up tracking. It takes some time, but will make big differences.

Dont drop a 50cc in it, its old/small/heavy and has its limits. best to keep it light and modest with a big glower. its not a 50cc 3D or freestyle unlimited airframe, but worth building and enjoying, if you are already committed to it [;)]

The motor is a good choice, this Yak may not be ideal for best performance. not sure on prop ( 16x4W??) on this motor, but many had real good sucess with the funtana X100 and perhaps the new 125 for full on 3D for the OS 120 AX.
