RE: THE Official HPI Savage Flux-HP Thread
There is a mod where people modify an RC8 hub. I've seen it in another forum. I run the integy widened hubs. They are okay, I've had them fall offf a few times. I wis there was a good made for savage hub kit that wasn't an extension.

RE: Official E-FIRESTORM thread
You were the fourth post in this thread. I put the castle SCT 3800 motor back in mine with 83/24 gears and the low profile road rage II tires. It has insane speed and wheelies on command (even with 70% punch control) and I blow a tire of the bead every time I take it out. 150F after 20 min in 75 F weather. There is quite a difference with this motor and the 1406-4600 kv motor. I took the telemetry off for another vehicle I drive more which cleaned up the wiring a little bit as well. The motor came from my savage XS. Selling that thing. I have a novak ballistic 8.5T (5000kv) motor coming in this week. I had the 10.5T motor in the storm (think it was my first) and found it to be very low on power but it was very smooth. We'll see how the lower wind does. Its going to be run on 2s only.

RE: Official E-FIRESTORM thread
I'm setting up my 22t now for a track and regret selling my novak 10.5t motor. I have an SCT motor in it for now but I want something smoother. Bash setups don't work well when you want true control. I was thinking of bolting a losi 2400kv buggy motor in my storm and gearing it to the moon with the 77t spur but I figured it would blow up or fly away with that setup. I've had problems getting my storm to stay in control in the high 50's and geared it for 50ish.

Hey wanna-be, welcome back and congratulations Enzyme on having a new one. You've been in this forum pretty much from the beginning from what I remember. What happened to Red? I had a nice tract to myself for four hours on sunday: http://www.rcgearhead.com/showthread.php?115-2012-season-Directions-to-the-track-and-photos and I am dropping off a deposit tonight to rent this track with seven other guys on saturday: http://www.hardcoreracersrc.ca/media.html I also met someone that has invited my friends and I to his personal track that is about 15 minutes away. Things are looking up...

Thats too bad man but luckily all were safe. Its weird that it happened with new stuff but if there is a problem it happens early when there are defects or later when its worn out. I had a battery the other day puff a lot on me and it split the case slightly and I discharded it and threw it out. Getting a few extra charges our of a battery is not worth the possible downside considering what a replacement costs and what it is worth.

I prefer to run a plastic spur gear. This gives me the idea to test taller ratios with the 44/25 to see if its worthwhile.

RE: THE Official HPI Savage Flux-HP Thread
The 1550 on 6s has a lot of torque but it has nothing on top. It goes the same speed as it did with the stock setup on 4s. I would say its better than the 4s stock setup but it comes at the cost of not having a high speed option. The run time doubled and after draining a full set of packs after hard driving on the street and the temperature was 105 F. I am geared 47/21, as tall as I can go. In order to go taller and run a plastic spur gear I need to install the high speed idler. I don't feel like I can gear it a lot more despite the encouraging lower temperatures, though.

RE: THE Official HPI Savage Flux-HP Thread
I just installed a Tekin RX8/T8 1550kv combo for my HP. I figure this motor on 6s should be like the stock setup on 4s but a bit stronger. It calculates to have about 2000 RPM higher maximum RPM. I found the 6s to be fun but not as useful and am going to try to get this somewhere between where the stock HP feels on 4s and 6s. I'm charging now and will se what this setup is like. 47/21 gearing. I have a high speed idler gear on hand.

Losi 22t has come. I am going to start assembling it today. Comparisons to the firestorm are inevitable and coming soon with photos of the two side-by-side. I figure that is relevant to a firestorm thread since a comparison has never been presented in here. Its going to be set up for track running only so I have to change my mindset on a few things from what I know of the firestorm. Here is a lap my friend recorded last night: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dVWlgs9Xyvo&feature=youtu.be Its nothing special. Iphone quality.

Both should be find although the stock shocks, which are basic, work quite well too. I think my firestorm days may be coming to an end, I bought a losi 22t that should be here this week. The storm hasn't had a lot of driving time lately. JB - check to see if your throttle trim is slightly forward. If thats not the problem try calibrating the radio again.

Nice lines with the paint. Thats the last era of chevy pickups I liked. SC wheels will likely reduce the stability of the vehicle with loss of width unless you've compensated somehow. I tried to run SC calibers on mine and it flipped constantly.

Welcome abominable. Looks like you need a new top shaft. As for slop, it may be normal or check the worn parts - could be a bearing or stretched plastic. I am thinking of selling my storm, been driving a losi buggy on the street lately instead.

Samurai, the only thing you can do is call support or find a nitro guy that has a transmitter battery pack you can use - or someone else with a compatible electric you can swap parts with to isolate the problem. Servos are cheap, though, and the likely problem. JB - How do I bash my trucks? Two ways. One is on a track which is where most of my driving time is now. I don't enter races

Do you have a way to apply 6v to the receiver? Try unplugging the ESC from the receiver and then trying to turn the servo. If that doesn't work try putting the servo in the throttle slot of the receiver and see if it works. Thats a start.

RE: Official E-FIRESTORM thread
Thats a 9300kv two pole motor. I've heard of a person or two running 6900kv castle 2-pole motors in the storm and thought that was pushing it considering how the 5700 has to be geared in the storm to stay cool. Most run between 3800-5900 kv motors up to 3s for the 2wd stadium truck. I would definitely watch temperatures. JP - overcharging will just shorten the battery life. I've heard 10-15 minutes with the stock battery. I just added two 8ight T 2.0 and two 8ight B 2.0 to my collection. Most came from large lots off oevay. I took an offer I couldn't refuse on my D8 and only had a losi 1.0 buggy so I went hunting. The buggies are in the mail and the truggy is being rebuilt. I haven't stormed in a while but I charged up a battery tonight. Maybe I will get out the video camera.

The storm doesn't need a great servo and you can pretty much run anything. Its 2wd and light so don't worry too much. I think I am running a hitec 5625mg for no particular reason other than I had it around. edit - 5625 not 5645

There is a forum in here by someone who converted their nitro FS. From what I remember it didn't handle well but I don't know what he ended up doing with it in the end. Its worth trying out. Popsi - those leopard motors will fit and any sensorless motor will work with the stock ESC JB19: there is nothing you need, all is a bonus, though. If this is your first RC I strongly

Welcome coke guy. Thanks for showing your rides. I never get tired of seeing other configurations of a truck I own or am familiar with. My friends and I now go to two different tracks on wednesday and friday every week from about 5-9pm. We drive truggy and buggy. Throw in the maintenance and repairs and there isn't time for any other RC stuff right now. My house has been a construction zone for two months. I did manage to finish a pretty good hobby room in my basement, though, that is pretty sweet to work in (photos to come when I finish the ceiling).

RE: Official E-FIRESTORM thread
There isn't a lot of stadium truck racing going on any more let alone oval racing so you are lucky. I use my storm for street and park bashing now and have no plans for it to do anything serious off road with it. Some guy had one out on the track we go to the other day and it did pretty well considering it was an 8th scale track. He was running a mamba max pro and castle 4-pole 5700 on 3s. The truck did perfect flips off of the main straightaway jump. Morvyrn - buy two-sided tape. Novak sells a good 3m tape (search novak mounting tape). My RC driving time has increased this year because my kids are older and I found the right group of guys to hang out with. We go friday afternoon and usually one other random day a week to a track for 3-4 hours at a time. We all have losi and hot bodies buggies and truggies. There are now a good number of tracks in the area and we are going to a new track (for us) on wednesday evening. I will bring my camera to our next two outings and post.

Any system will work and not overheat if its geared properly. MMax pro/4-pole 3800 to 5700 motors are the most popular in here. Venom just came out with a new system. The traxxas stuff is two-pole so it will have less torque.

RE: Official E-FIRESTORM thread
Archer - if you are bashing and just want a lot of power go for the castle setup. The ballistic motors are smooth but they have a lot less power than the castle. They are two pole as well and are kind of out dated compared to whats coming out now. Scheibler - I don't the motors are that good, they appear to pull a lot of amps compared to the pure castle motors they are based on. I have no idea if the stock truck wheelies on command with 2s lipo but I assume it will off the line all the time. NiMH - don't know. I think the ESCs are okay, especially the second vapour, qbase and blur. Welcome....

Have fun with it. I've had great luck with MMP ESCs. I went to the track today with some guys and burned almost two packs in my truggy until the rear diff case broke. I marshalled the nitro guys for a while before calling it quits. My truggy and buggy are both down now but luckily my other truggy is being returned from a friend that didn't want it. New workshop coming soon...

Stick with the MMP or QBase and you will never worry. Almost any B6 charger will work well. Turnigy and titan are the two I've had good luck with but I had bad luck (along with many others) with an Imax version. There are a few versions of that one out there. The turnigy has a fan.

MMP 5700 is ideal for 2s and 4600 for 2s/3s. I think its a great ESC but its overkill. An SV2 should be enough. I think 170 on the ESC is crazy.
