RE: Flight Simulator
The one that has most of the blade series of helis is the sim "pheonix". When you get the sim you SHOULD get the cable with it.I do agree that clearview is the cheapest sim out there, The top sim on the market is real flight. Phoenix sim has the blade 120sr all the way up to the blade450 3D

landing gear brace
As the title states, i have a question about moding a landing gear. I guess first things first.....I have the 50" GP Edge 540t. bought it as "ARF" I have flown my other plane ( yak54), the problem that i have is, when i land, the landing gear brakes off (2 oput of 8 times). My landings aren't the smoothest. When i touch down , my landings bounce alittle.I know i need practice.I'm looking for a link that i can watch to see if there is any mods to strenghen up the landing gear.I dont need the mod to be on the inside. I need the mod for the outside and underneath the landing gear. When i land the landing gear flex outwards , which causes the part of the landing gear strut(where the screws go) to pull out. Is there a product out in the market to act like a brace, preventing the screw area from pulling out, like how the foamys have that block over the landing gear screws. or is there a video that i can watch to mod a brace. This is mainly for my edge540, but can be used for both. I want to do this mod to my 540 before i fly it Just some FYI for you all I am not a noob to flying. I can take off, fly, do stunts, etc, etc, but i know that my landings need work The places that I fly are a little small, not like i have the room to come in straight and be able to slow down enough like a norm runway. I have to fly at school fields, and you know that you dont have that much room to land.Flying is no prob, get above the trees and have fun Any links, suggestion, and or help will be greatly apprecated.

GP edge 540t (electric)
This post is to get your opinion on something for the ARF edge540 I'am not a noob to flying or some 3D .I bought the electricfly greatplanes 50" edge 540t The question (opinion) that im asking,..is what "KV" motor do u think i should use to do good 3D with.Dont worry about the ESC if I have to.. i will get the proper ESC with it. The motor that i will be using is a outrunner brushless.. I currently have a 910 KV , 650 KV motor. I was thinking of getting a 1300KV . I also have a 2100KV from one of my dead jets.Do you think the 2100KV is to much. I know that what prop that i use makes a big difference.FYI I will be using a APC 13x6e prop WHAT KV would you suggest

RE: Great Planes Edge 540T
The main mistake that you made is going to greatplanes themselfs( if you really own that plane) The book itself states that if there is any damage when opening the box is to go to hobbico.com and not great planes. I bought my edg540t yesterday and found out the rudder was damaged.went to hobbico.com .....LIKE THE BOOK states...... and the next day got an email from them stating that they are going to send me the re-placement this week. If you want them to replace damaged product there is info that you need to send them 1) pic's of the damage ( to prove you are not the one that did the damage) 2)give them the receipt number 3) give them the invoice# 4) give them the place where you bought it from ( name of store, address, phone#) 5) give them your email and phone# 6) date that you bought it 7) go to the place that it says in the book to contact, in this case bobbico and not great planes

RE: Perhaps the dumbest question of the month
DEAR:70x7 The three channel that you came from is right . The new four channel is not ailerons/elevator/ruder. The four channels are AILERONS/ELEVATOR/RUDDER/MOTOR. For the question of using the rudder with ailerons is totaly up to you.As stated above, some ppl use the aileron rudder combo for taking off and landing. Most ppl use that combo for some sport flying aswell as 3d flying. If you feel comfortable using the rudder the way you are.... use it. That is what makes this hobby interesting, not one control is the same. WHat i mean by that is that everyone has they own way of flying the plane and the settings for the controller

RE: Rudder servo
I think i have figured out what the problems is: It is what most of you were saying. The servo was binding. I took it out for a flight the other day and after landing i did hear a humming sound with doing nothing to the controller.I guess you can say its something that i should of caught before but didnt. No worries now, the plane is toast. That same day that i did fly I was on the second batt.Took off and got it to do a vertical torque roll and as it got a good ways up, i suddenly saw two pieces come off the plane. It was atleast 200 feet up, then come down the axact way i was torque rolling up and hit the ground HARD. It turned out that the canopy came off ( some how lost a magnet) and as i was doing the torque roll the batt came out too.The pilot in the plane ejected haha. The plane is not fixable, so will be going out and getting another plane on the weekend. Will be taking the parts from it and re-using some of them

RE: Rudder servo
It is a single servo for the rudder. The elevator is a twin that is conected together with one servo , but that is not the problem. For the humming sound during flight , I never heard anything.I took the servo from my pitts python thinking no problem,THe servo was working while i was in the airand I noticed it after i landed. My landings are a LITTLE bouncy, but when touching down all wheels touch down at the same time so i dont think it is the landings, if anything the prop will brake.I looked at the control rod and it doesnt seem to be binding.I did have the throw at 125% threw my DX6i, but have changed it to 100%.The servos that i use are the 16gram servo that you get for $18. I'm thinking that they cant handle the 125% throw.I just changed the servo and going out flying , when the batt is charged.I will not really now if it is the 125% thing till i fly it about a dozen times and see what happens

Rudder servo
I have a problem that i hope that someone can help me with. The first thing I have to say is that I'm not a noob to flying. I'm going to try and explain the senerio to you the best that i can. I own a 1400mm foamy su-26 with a 650kv outrunner motor,50AMP ESC, running a wild scorpion 4s 2800MAH batt.I have flow that plane for about a dozon times and all of a sudden the rudder stopped working.I think the gears in the servo stripped.REplaced the whole servo with a nother one, flew it again about a dozen more times no prob. Tonight I flew it twice with no problem, landed and was about to taxi it over to me to go for another run , when i notice the servo not working the rudder again. All i see the servo doing is trying to move but doesnt, I get a strange grinding sound from it.Now i can easily replace the servo again, but dont want to go through this again after about 12 flights I would like to know what you guys think the prob is.In the TX program the throw is 100% and everything in the controller has been fine. Any ideas on what is stripping the gears in the servo?

thrust weight ratio
First off...i'm not a noob when it comes to rc planes and flying,..... but the question might be My skill level is somewhere inbetween sport flying and 3d flying. I have been flying foamies for about two years and I have flown the stratos, super cub, cessna 1400mm, p-40 warhawk 1400mm, p-51d mustang 1400mm, pitts python 1400mm .I bought myself a 1400mm foamy Dynam SU-26. it uses a outrunner 650kv motor with a 50 AMP ESC and using a 4 cell 2800 MAH batt. The trouble that im having is not taking off nor is it flying and doing stunts...it's the landing. With the plane weighing 2.85 LBS I know that (for me)it is to light with that motor. My problem is landing, more exactly getting it to come down to earth and not staying in the air. Dont get my wrong ...I know how to land.I have lost count how many times i have landed. What i'm trying to say is that im going to balsa for my next plane. The new plane will be the SU-26 made from balsa with the same motor. Now for the question. With that motor how do u calculate thrust to weight ratio. Is it a personal feeling like expo or is there a formula to it

MOTOR MOUNT REPAIR
This post is more or less your opion on repairing a motor mount (firewall) on a foamy. I know how to fix motor mounts on foamies, but i have been having bad luck with them. The type of motor mount that im talking about is the one's that are just a flat piece of plastic that is attached to the main body from the manufacture.I glue up the mount , which is just a flat piece of plastic with one hole in the center and for other holes for the mounting screws.I have used ca(foam safe), expoxy, and a new type of glue that works great on the rest of the plane called fabric tac). Some of you might call it the firewall. The thing is i get it all glued up( i do wait 24 hours to make sure glue cures), put on the motor and go flying.I get to about may-be 5 - 6 flights and the motor mount(firewall) comes loose and the motor starts to wigel alot. I do use clamps and such different things to hold it in place till glue cures. I want to know if you guy/gale's have any tips and tricks you do and what kind of glue do u use

Banana hoby/ blitzrcworks warning
This post is about the products from Bananahobby.com. I'am NOT looking for replys , just want to get the warning out there. The aircrafts that they sell that are "RTF,ARF" do not work the way that they are suppose to.There are A.L.O.T!! of ppl out there that know this but I'm putting out the warning. Here is what happened to me. I bought a f-14 tomcat from them that was a "RTF" but switched the receiver so i can use my DX6i.I took off as normal, but the minute that i was in the air i was fighting with power. My TX and batt were fully charged. It was about 100 feet in the air(about tree top hight) and you can see it trying to go higher and just could not do it, and i had my DX6i at 100% throttle, And it could not climb more that i wanted.I lost the plane that night. The next day I went looking for it and found it.Brought it home and looked at the electronics to see what it had.I noticed that it had 2 2100kv outrunner ducted motors with 2 20AMP ESC's.We all know that for that kind of kv motors, you need at least double that ESC power. If you all can be so kind and tell your friends and other ppl to NOT buy anything from Banana hobby/ blitzrcworks, it will be like throwing your money away

RE: Chosing the right glue
When it comes to ca glue for foamies I would stay away from it. There are two reasons for it 1) If using ca you need the kicker for a proper bond 2) I have used ca(foam safe) and have to say that the bond is very weak My opinion is that the best glue for foamies is expoxy. It has a great bond and it is very strong. The only thing is , if you want a solid bond let the expoxy dry over night

RE: How to handle the guys with flawed plans?
I know how you feel jester I have been fling for about a little over a year now.I'm not saying that I'M a 3d pilot, I'm more of a sport flyer. There was someone that i meet alittle while ago and found out that is is new to the flying rc's.He says that he flew rc (balsa) 30 years ago and after watching him for a while i noticed that he doesnt know how to fly.I have taught him alot in the last month. The thing with him is that he is so subern there are things i tell him to do and it is like he agnores me.Yes I know that im a bad speller.Within the last month I have to admite that he has gotten better. There are a lot of things that he does listen to , but there are a lot of things he doesnt.Example while landing i told him to S.L.O.W.L.Y lower the throttle and keep the plane level and let the plane land on it'ds own and you will get a great landing , but he still banks hard and lower ing the throttle and winds up crashing.Ppl like that what you have to do is let them crash and then say "I told you so".Some times he listens. Some ppl like that have to learn the hard way.The same day i maiden'd my Pitts Python did a great take off , great flight , and a picture perfect landing and you think after he saw me do that , that he would listen.....noooope.

RE: Flaps-/Elevator Programing DX6i
All the above options are great and do work but if you want something simple, and to stop the great amout of lift on landing , here is what I do ( i have DX6I).In the flaps option on the controller just go to about -13 for the flaps and nothing else. The reason for that is if you are coming in for a landing "dead stick" You just need a LITTLE lift from the flaps to help keep you level while you re coming down

RE: Phoenix ?
I've had that problem with hpeonix and i use a DX6I. Here is the trick to get flaps working 1)Go into your controller program(not the sim) and set the flaps to (+100) 2) In the sim re-cal your transmitter. While in the cali setting of the program make sure it is detecting the flaps switch 3)In the sim setting asign the flap channel This will make the flaps work normally.I know that when you put the (+100) to flaps it will work in the sim in reverse so they will go down. Thats what i have to do with my DX6I and hopefully it works for yours

RE: Trimming Questions
For what you are saying for the problem of the airerons can lead to one main thing. The servo horns that are conected to the servo are not at a 90 degree angle. What will help is to take off the control rod off , un-screw the screww that is holding the servo horn and remove the horn and then re-attach it as 90 degree as you can. The put the screww back in.This makes sure that both servo's for your airerons have full throw, because it sounded like one was doing the job but the other was ether to far forward or backward. Now take the rod and reconect it back to the servo hord and make sure that the aileron is level with the rest of the plane. If not keep twisting the conter till you get it level with the rest of the wing

Their is two possible sollutions to the prob. 1) no light on the receiver will be 90% sure that is did not bind completly.Have the controller at least 3 feet away from the receiver to make sure you get a good bind. 2) the consant beep that you are getting sounds like the ESC is not programed

I have to admit, that your post is very imformative about the difference between RTF and ARF. To put it in basic terms, the " RTF" mainly means that it comes with everything you are going to need for that aircraft (I.E aircraft itself, transmitter, receiver, battery, charger, glue).Like you said the person still has to put the aircraft together, tune it, caliberate it, tweek it,etc, etc
