RE: What 1:1 car do you drive.
Here is my new baby, a custom '99 Dakota R/T. It has been cutting into my flying funds quite a bit but it is worth it. RE: PA Electric Shock replacement?
I would love to get an Addiction but I can't justify the extra cost of a new motor, speed control, and batteries. I already have everything but the airframe to set something up like the electric shock. It is also was a very easy airplane to transport in the car in one piece. Thanks for the suggestion, maybe Ill just sell one of my nitro birds to buy a larger electric, dunno.

I guess I'll just order another one if no one has suggestions.

RE: Final Touchdown
It is a standard nose dragger configuration, the nose gear failed on the landing roll out and the airplane did end up completely on its back. This happened some time in 2007 IIRC. I was never fond of that style nosegear, it just looks like a failure waiting to happen.

PA Electric Shock replacement?
I decided it was a nice calm night to go out and rip a couple of packs through the electric shock since I haven't been flying as much as I would like to. Toward the end of the last pack I was pulling out of a dive to inverted and the elevator hinges adhesive let go [:(]. Needless to say it is in bad shape, fuselage is powder back to the wing, leading edge is damaged on one side, but the electronics all survived. This was a wonderful flying airplane, in fact it was by far my favorite electric I have ever had but it has been a while since it came out and I thought I would check around if anyone had anything better that I could drop the my electronics in and go blow some more holes in the sky. All I ask is that it is of wood and or carbon fiber design and has large 3D style control surfaces. Let me know what you have. Thanks

RE: The Price Is Right ( RC Edition )
The heli is an older hirobo shuttle, it is easy to get parts for and is only worth about $200 with cheap electronics in it, the engines are worth about $100 for both. The radios are only worth giving to a new guy to get him flying. The rest is yard sale filler.

RE: chevy el camino
Its a Chevelle with a bed, trucks have the option of a diesel engine and 4X4. BTW a rim change would make that car look a lot better.

RE: CubCrafters SS Cub!
Real, like a real Cub, Cessna, Piper, Beech or even something Experimental, none of these LSA "toys". The new LSAs that I have worked on and looked at all seem to have cut corners in one way or another to limit weight and make them preform "better" and I'm not a fan of doing that. I understand that some people cant get their medical or choose not to so the LSA is the only way to go, but unfortunately it is the overpriced way to go now too.

I'm guessing high 15's in the 300M. 3.5L V6, 255 HP, 3.55 gears, 3800 LBS.

Dang, you could buy a real airplane for that kind of cash [:)]. It is still the $160,000 solution to the $60,000 problem.

RE: BIG Bass!!!!
If you want good sound and not just something loud go with JL, Infinity, Diamond, JBL, Alpine, or Boston Acoustics just to name a few. The stuff you listed is pretty cheap and that's why it is so popular. If you have to stick to the four listed the Rockford is going to sound the cleanest, Kicker is going to be about the loudest.

This should make it sound nice and clean http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_9712_Infinity+Reference+475a.html, I am actually doing a lot of research to completely redo my entire system. Go with a 5 channel if you eventually want to add a sub.

RE: help with first slow stick.
A guy I fly with is running that same setup, it actually flies very well. I have those servos in two planes of my own and really like them. Save yourself the shipping and get 4 or 5 servos and a couple of gear kits, you will want the ailerons. Just note that you can only use a 3s battery with that speed control.

RE: GRAN TURISMO 5 NOT COMING 2009!
Prologue is pretty cool, but I did beat all three levels in an afternoon. I just hope that they give the people who bought prologue a brake on the cost of the full version or offer the full version as a downloadable upgrade. GTA4 has my attention more lately though[8D].

RE: Teen Drivers Please Read
ORIGINAL: Stampede Killer i thought i was a good driver, and tried a burnout for a first time in my truck hit second gear while holding the break and this happened, no more screwing around for me. and i hardly speed. i lerned my lesson the hard way. and i have a stock chevy silverado 1500 with the small v8
Ouch, did the clutch come apart or what happened? I think the problem with poor drivers is split between too many distractions like cell phones, fast food, ipods, etc. and a VERY poor education system. If we where structured more like Germany accidents would most likely rapidly decrease. Another point is that slower isn't necessarily safer, the skill of the driver determines that more than anything else.

RE: Smoke with a small 2 stroke
On my OS 1.08FSR I made a coil out of copper tube that fits inside of the stock 2 piece muffler with the baffle removed that preheats the oil and then dumps it in about the middle of the manifold. I get a ton of smoke from this setup, I should scan the pic where I completely dusted the field with a nice layer of super dry. [:D]

RE: TerraFugia
I know that it was planned to fly in the fall of 2008 but I never heard if it did. It looks interesting, but I don't see it catching on. If I only had an lsa license I would buy a nice $100K LSA and one heck of a nice car with the other $100k.

IIRC it is 65 now. But, IMHO it shouldn't be based on age. If you can get your first class medical and pass recurrence training you should be able to keep your job.

RE: SUV drivers, slow down in the snow/ice, you are not invincible!
I agree that you should slow down in the snow and ice, but it is just as dangerous to drive 35MPH in good visibility. Other people are going to pass you if you go that slow, when they do you are at their mercy. I encourage people to go to an empty parking lot an see what their car is capable of and what your own driving limits are.

RE: BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain T/A KM2 Tires
ORIGINAL: Mekong I am considering waiting on getting tires till I can save up to also get icelandoffroad's fender flares, then I could fit something bigger. http://www.icelandoffroad.com/Wjfenderflares.html The car is my daily driver as I mentioned so it needs to still be road worthy
I would wait, you're not going to be happy with the looks or ground clearance of tires that small. As far as daily driving it, I really wouldn't worry about it. They are going to be noisy but will handle about like any other radial. I have a friend that daily drove a Toyota 4runner on 36" Irocs and he drove it 250 miles one way to go wheeling and then drove it back. The Irocs where bias ply tires and wore very fast but the thing didn't drive half bad.

RE: BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain T/A KM2 Tires
They'll do fine, IIRC they are radials so the ride and wear shouldn't be too bad either. My only question is why you want to use such small tires? You have a small lift, you might as well fill the wheel wells.

RE: Old Nitro Balsa Guy Needs Hellcat Foam Repair Help
The gorilla glue will work fine. I usually use a vinyl tape (similar to electrical) to hold foam together while gluing. You could also put some carbon rod or wooden supports at the brake inside the foam that would help hold it together and support the glue joint when dry.HTH
