RE: new engine for my T maxx
I have an oldmTM with a Picco .26 Blue Head. You will definitely want to upgrade all your driveshafts. Before you go dumping a bunch of $$ into your Maxx, take the time to break that Picco in properly. I run 30% Byron's in my Picco, but the head is shimmed for it. I recommend 20% Byron's Race.

RE: t maxx 2.5 to 3.3 upgrade help
Sheesh, you could really rack up quite a bill upgrading....I know firsthand, but I digress. Just the basics will be a good start- all your driveshafts to metal dogbones, RPM a-arms and shock towers, might as well get REVO-spec steering blocks. Oh yeah, a good quality metal gear steering servo. That'll get you started!

RE: People still hopping up older 2.5 maxx's
My Maxx is 6 years old now....I still run it every couple weeks. I've currently got it torn down for conversion to Mamba Monster power. My Maxx is hopped up pretty good- Picco .26 power, New Era extended chassis, Revo knuckles, RPM arms, etc, etc.

RE: T Maxx to E Maxx conversion
I have done a ton of reading on the conversion. What I was asking for is feedback from those that have actually done the conversion. I have a New Era billet extended chassis I want to build on. Isn't the E Maxx chassis plastic? I already know I'm gonna use the Mamba Monster system, so I can run 6s if I want to. I'm nowhere near a newbie to this hobby, just to the electric Maxx idea.

Go with the Picco! I just so happen to have a Picco .26 Max (blue head) for sale. PM me. Yes, the Picco will fit with a stock 3.3 body- you may have to trim the hole a bit for clearance.

RE: t maxx pro .15 questions
Look up the Traxxas instructions for the motor and follow them to the letter. It will tell you the proper settings for the needle valves to get it started. I assume you have a good glow plug and fresh fuel.

T Maxx to E Maxx conversion
I have been out of the RC game for a while now, due to several circumstances. I own a hopped up T-Maxx that I want to convert to electric- specifically CC Mamba Monster power. I have read lots of threads on this conversion. I am looking for feedback from people that have actually made the conversion. My specific questions are: 1) Transmission. Would I be better off getting a new E Maxx/REVO trans or converting my T Maxx trans (with FOC) to single speed? What about reverse? Is the Mamba SC capable of reverse? If I keep my TM trans, is it upgradable to a REVO slipper clutch? 2) Batteries. I am definitely going LiPo, but what configuration? 4s ? 6s? Is there room on a T Maxx chassis ( New Era billet extended wheelbase) for two 2s or 3s packs? Thanks for your input. BTW- I will have a Picco .26 Max (blue head) and associated parts for sale soon.

Eagle 50 setup help
First off, I'm an rc car guy, so helis are new to me. I have 2 friends who recently purchased Eagle 50 helis. Neither of them are able to set up their tx's. The problem is this- they turn on the tx, then plug in the batt on the heli. The rx indicator flashes rapidly and will not stop flashing. These guys are, to say the least, upset that they cannot get their helis working. I am amazed at the lack of troubleshooting in the "manual" supplied with this product, and the lack of info on the ExceedRC website. Any help will be appreciated. Eagle 50 with #2604 rx and 2.4g tx.

AE receiver channel id
I know this is basic, but....Can someone please tell me which rx channel the steering servo and esc are supposed to plug into? I recently dusted off the old rc18 for my son to drive....he's six, so the Mamba and lipos are out and the stock power plant is reinstalled. I do not remember which channels the esc and servo go to. thanks for your help.

RE: Is T-MAXX Delicate?
Yep. 68 mph. 23t CB, 64t spur, leaned out to the point of melting the head, but it did it. 2 runs opposite directions, Bonneville style. Tried to duplicate it, but didn't want to smoke my Picco. didn't intend to hijack this thread, tho.

RE: new picco max .26 problems
1. Go to Ofna's website and download the break in procedure. 2. Yes, the Picco motors are tight at break in 3. The original .26Max motors had problems with leaky front bearings, so that may indeed be an issue. 4. Do a search here for the"Picco .26 Max- the Dark Side" thread...there's a wealth of info there from Cliff and his brother that is invaluable to Picco .26 owners 5. the Picco .26 was designed to use stock Traxxas pipes, so a new pipe is not a necessity, but you will get more performance from an aftermarket pipe, like the Vantage metioned in another post 6. prepare yourself for one of the best mid-block motors you can put in your Revo....and welcome to the Dark Side!

Yeah, they leak! I have to rebuild them often. I ordered a bunch of rebuild kits from 2coolrc before they folded, so I've got the seals and o-rings. That and copious amounts of Green Slime.

RE: Is T-MAXX Delicate?
I think the point we're missing here is that the is a LEARNING CURVE that must be taken into consideration here. If you are new to RC monster trucks, you will break stuff. Period. I got my first nitro truck back in '05 and broke just about every part you can break, and some that shouldn't have broken. I now bash the ceeerap out of my Maxx without breaking anything, and I've jumped as high as the roof of my house and can still land it decently. My Maxx ain't no slouch, either- clocked by a cop on cop radar at 68mph. There are several upgrades you can make to toughen up a Maxx, but good driving skills come with time. Oh, hello Dave....been a while since I've been on here, glad to see you're still here doling out useful info....keep it up, bro!

Out of the loop for a while
It's been a while since I've even looked at RCU.....( 'bout a year or so).I'm not a slacker, just busy. Just checking in to see what's up with the venerable T-Maxx. I still run my Maxx every once in a while...considered selling it a couple of times, but every time I fire it up and smell the nitro fumes...well, y'all know what happens then! Here's a rundown of my Maxx. Some stuff I've added may be antique to some of you, but my Maxx still shreds like a true champion! RE: Help please with my T-MAXX 2.5
Replace the plug, use fresh fuel and get a glow igniter. The EZStart wand is notorious for underpowering the glow plug.

RE: Help me decide
Believe me- even an E-Revo ain't no truck for in the house- you gotta give it plenty of room. Take it from a long-time nitro head- start out electric and upgrade to nitro after mastering your driving skills. I agree with the above posts that a Rustler is the perfect newbie vehicle- there's plenty of aftermarket hop ups for the Rusty.

RE: Picco 26 Max....the DARK SIDE....
Wow. I can't believe this thread is still alive......much like my .26 MAX, blue head. 4 plus gallons thru it, over 2 years since I broke it in. Had to replace idle stop screw, and got a set of Boca bearings in it. I was a participant in this thread since the beginning- garnered a lot of good info on this particular motor. Still get out and tear around the park with my T-Maxx. Can't hardly call it a T-Maxx,tho-the only things still stock are the tranny case, diff cases and bulks.

RE: 4 stroke t-maxx project
rcnitrohead: speed has everything to with RPM. With a centrifugal clutch, at some point below max RPM(wot) the clutch will lock up, therefore the RPM of the engine becomes part of the gear ratio. A little math will tell how fast the engine must turn at a given speed. That said, there's some thumpers out there in Revos and Savvys. I agree that with gearing that works with a 2stroke mill will not work with a thumper, but a suitable spur/ CB combo can be found. Cooling is an issue, as is the wear and tear on a ringed-piston motor that was designed to run at a steady RPM with a given load,

RE: T-maxx looking for new power??? Newbie
Yes, you can use the EZStart until you change to another starting system. I use a Tiger Drive, and start both my nitro vehicles with a cordless drill. As a longtime Picco user, I agree that the OS is a better mill for less experienced RC'ers.

RE: New Traxxas Crawler
Watch the video again- this IS a Revo......with some cool adaptations- lockers and a low range. Now we know why the new Tx and Rx have a 4th channel. With Traxxas teaming up with Castle Creations, I'm sure there will be a BL LiPo version of this crawler with a crawler-specific SC and motor combo. The boys from Texas have been raising the bar an awful lot lately. Keep it up.

RE: Are these any good???????
Selecting a clutch depends on what you plan on doing with your truck. For just bashing around and racing your bud's truck, I recommend the MIP shoes. IMO, if you;re just bashing around, the aluminum shoes run hotter, which is detrimental to the life of the shoes, the CB, and the bearings, including the front bearing on your motor. Composite shoes help out by not producing as mush heat, and they seem to last a lot longer than a set of alum. shoes. MIP #1664 for 3.3, 3078 for 2.5

RE: Running very very hot 2 T-maxxes that were given to us.
I highly recommend you go tot the Traxxas website and watch the instructional video. You can skip the break-in procedure, but there's a good tuning tutorial on there. You may have an air leak causing the high temps. After running it a while with the needles set to factory specs, look for fuel around the front bearings, backplate and around the carb base. An air leak must be fixed to avoid a lean running condition- airleak=lean=high temp.

RE: Which motor for my t-maxx? Advice please!
There's several motors that are direct drop-ins for your Maxx. The O.S. 21, and older .18, RB323, 523, and the beastly Picco .26 Max. Yeah, I'm kinda partial to the Picco, 'cuz that's what I have in my Maxx, but you can't go wrong with any of those mentioned above. Keep in mind you will need a new tuned pipe, and will more than likely ditch the EZStart, so you will need a Tiger Drive and a cordless drill. The RB motors come with a header and tuned pipe.

RE: what is the factory setting for the 2 speed tranny screw
Not really sure what the factory setting is, but it should shift rather quickly, in the first 25-30 feet from a standing start at WOT. Be sure you adjust the correct screw, though- there's two screws visible through the adjustment hole. Check the Traxxas instructions for the correct screw. My advice is to adjust it how you like it to shift. Depending on your gearing (stock, or different spur or CB), you basically want to use first gear to get the truck moving, with a quick shift to second. Hope this helps.

72 tooth is the stock size for the 2nd gen T-Maxx. Try Robinson Racing. I do not recommend steel spurs, though, unless you like replacing clutchbells. Edit: Just looked it up, Robinson Racing Products pn 8572.
