RE: NEW!!! Official Traxxas XO-1 1/7 onroad....
wah. Stop being such a cry baby. I like macs. I like using macs. I like Mac programs. I do happen to know what I am talking about since I repair PowerPC macs every day. I repair a lot of iBooks, Powerbooks, and iMacs. I tear these computers down and rebuild them, sometimes overclock them (no wimpy Bios overclocking here). There are a lot of cool things hidden inside them that most people would never ever see. You really see first hand how much effort went into every detail of the computer. I really respect apple for that. All I am saying is I would rather have a computer that works well, is top of the line, and is a fantastic peice of engineering, rather than a PC with an overly vulgar case. My parents have had a PowerMac G5 for almost 10 years and only recently bought a new one because everyone dropped PowerPC support. They last a hell of a lon time. That was from 2003, it had two 2.0 Ghz G5 processors, capable of using 16 GB of ram (I believe we only ever had 5 GB installed, still was beautifully powerful for the time). We had a kick as ATI video card in it. It was a gorgeous machine. Personal opinion I guess. I'm not trying to "convert" people. I'm sorry, I didn't mean for this to be an irrelivent Mac Vs. PC debate.

RE: NEW!!! Official Traxxas XO-1 1/7 onroad....
Don't be ignorant. I'm not a Mac drone, I can't afford a new computer, let alone a mac, but I do work on all computers (mac, PC, Linux of all distros) and I know quality when I see it. Macs are just as upgradeable or repariable if you know what you are doing. I wouldn't expect a microsoft technition to know their way around a mac, not because they are stupid, but just because it is different hardware, different software, and an entirely different idea of how a computer should be. Talk about Mac fans, I'm sick of microsoft fans getting overly defensive of their crap. I wasn't shouting out the glories of Apple, I was simply pointing out facts and correcting inaccurite information. And I would love to see you build a dual quad Xeon system for less than $3000 without it being optomized to be a server. If you can, then I will swallow my pride and admit that I was wrong. My personal beliefs and experiences are what encourage me to use a Mac. That doesn't make me a terrible, or second class citizen, nor am I making claims that it makes me sophisticated. Anyway, good luck with building that computer, and maybe keep your mind open a little bit.

RE: NEW!!! Official Traxxas XO-1 1/7 onroad....
ORIGINAL: ThunderbirdJunkie
ORIGINAL: srt10 oh maybe they are getting a kick back from Apple?[:-]
It'd make sense, since Traxxas is the Apple of RC. Or Apple is the Traxxas of computers? Hmm. They were both founded in the 80s...they've both had tumultuous ownership changes...they both charge more for inferior performance, compared to their competition... Crap, maybe this was more accurate than ThunderbirdJunkie intended[:)] It's an interesting car, and ThunderbirdJunkie could SEE owning one...it's cool. Buy the car, sell the servo, radio, and batteries...gear it properly for 4S, and have a fun parking lot basher.
Apple was founded in 1976. their products are not inferior in any way and if you actually looked into it, you will find that configuring a PC to the same extent as an equivalent is just as expensive, and that is not including a great operating system (unless you are running a linux distribution), and it would be mounted in a crappy plastic case unlike the high quality well engineered aluminum, magnesium and titanium cases that mac computers are built out of. Not to mention the fact that while their phones are not as configurable as an android device, they are beautiful, well made, user friendly, and they are more or less standardized. While I don't understand the point of it being mounted to a transmitter, I have to say that I understand the choice of having connectivity for an iphone rather than an android or other devise. That being said, I absolutely despise this car. In my opinion, it is a commercial failure already. Despite the fact that they really didn't have much tooling to rework, they essentially built a car for a market that generally cannot afford, or will not pay for a car this expensive. There are much cheaper ways to have stupid amounts of speed. I admit, I like the aerodynamic aspect. I think using a diffuser is an effective solution, but my respect for this product pretty much ends there. This car doesn't impress me at all. at 1/7th scale, 100mph is 700mph. To achieve the same scale speed with a 10th scale vehicle, it only needs to move 70mph. I think they could have put a lot more into this car, and if they hadn't half assed it out of a slash, it could probably be capable of a lot more. But for this amount of effort, they could have made a lot more profits from making a 1/10th scale car that goes 100mph. !000 scale mph. it would probably be a bit cheaper too, but I think at that scale/speed, people would be more willing to put in the money. Hell, I think if they built a 10th pan car with independent suspension at all 4 corners, a flat bottom, diffuser, and a simple 2 gear (pinion/spur) 2wd drive train, it would be lighter, more aerodynamic, more manageable, cheaper to produce, and have more room for MORE LIPOS!

Traxxaz XL-5
i have a duratraxx evader with a traxxas XL-5 esc, and for some reason now, It works for like 30 seconds then it stops. The light on the esc turns red and I can't do anything. Is this a problem with my esc or can I fix it?

RE: New source for cheap parts
BTW, I obviously can make parts that fit on the duratrax evader, and i have access to a traxxas rustler that i can take dimensions from to make parts. if you have other cars/ trucks, i'll make a trip down to my local hobby shop to take dimensions, so it is not a problem

New source for cheap parts
hey guys, I've been doing a lot of work with sheet aluminum lately and have been making replacement parts and accesories for my duratrax evader. I've been practicing for quite a while and I think it's finally good enough quality fabricate and sell custom aluminum parts such as bumpers, skid plates, shock towers, braces, etc. so if you are interested in a part, email me at dccracing@gmail.com and we can work from there. I'll post some pics of my work on here when i get the chance.

evader gears
hey, i have a duratraxx evader and im scared to put brushless on it without upgrading the gearsw in the gearbox to steel. are there any other rc trucks/ buggies that have the same gears that i could buy steel parts from?

RE: are pan cars dead?!
pan cars are good oval racers, but you can also get pan cars that are strictly for oval with special battery cradels that position the weight out more towards the left

ya, i would much rather buy it then and there at my track. so wait, duratrax is under the lrp name? so wouldn't that make them related to the associateds?

RE: are pan cars dead?!
Ya, at my track, they mostly do oval with the pan cars, which is all fine and dandy to me, but i like twists and turns. very little people actually are interested in racing their pancars on road courses s here. really a shame i think. i would think that pancars are incredibly fast aroung the corners due to their low center of gravity, extreamly wide stance, and super wide tires. i think get a nice pancar, a nice brushless setup, and lithium batteries along with sticky tires and youve got a ton of fun in a small car.

RE: are pan cars dead?!
lol. ya i used to have an old rc10l2. a hybrid of both would be kinda cool, but right now all i can think of is the 1/8th scale nitro cars that have independent suspensions, but are really wide, which i think would be kinda cool, but i sorta have a thing for damper plate/ rear pod suspensions. i think it would be kinda nice seeing a wider touring car type front end mated with a t plate rear setup. also, since nitro is a trend right now, maybe a nitro pancar???? so many of these ideas makes me wish i built and tested production prototypes for team associated...

gettin a new toy
well, not exactly a "toy". i want a racing machine for both on and offroad (my track has racing classes for rc18 t and b for carpet oval, carpet track, and dirt offroad) so ya. ive been thinking about some different options: 1. duratrax vendetta 2. associated rc18 b or t Im kinda worried about the duratrax vendetta because, well, its a duratrax... im kinda skeptical about durability, and availability of parts. the rc18 is very popular in my area, so it has lots of parts, but its kinda pricey compared to the vendetta. but also, isnt there a front end suspension conversion for the vendetta? what does this do to handling/ weight/ durability?[&:]

are pan cars dead?!
I spent some time at my local indoor track, and saw some pan car action both 1/10th and 1/12th, but really, not much. What ever happened to pan cars? they are so cool (to me) but im suprised they aren't as popular as they used to be. maybe because of the boom in off road nitro? I solute those diehard pancar guys out there!

i think the dry ice would freeze the fuel. i think regular ice mixed with water and a tad of salt will work very well. just make a coil out of brass tubing in have it inside a small tank with the mixture. this is probably your best bet

RE: Pro-Pulse 1/18th Radioshack!
Guys come on. I'd say it is pretty decent. if you look at it, it really is not a RC18 knock off. also, you gotta thank radio shack for this. it looks like a cheaper rc18, but i mean that in a good way. we all need a small cheap basher to take out all our anger from cheap japaneze companies ripping us off! I'm Done
This is pathetic. I like the IRC Vulcan, but it is just too damn fragile! I started out with a stock Vulcan se. i added steel differentials, and cvd driveshafts. i was not at all impressed when my driveshafts just snapped at the joint and my steel differential strtipped completely. COME ON. do you folks at IRC call this quality?! I have paid atleast $80.00 repairing this thing and trying to get it to run. since i have had it, it has only been able to run for about 5 days!!! I have put in 80 dollars that i could have bought a nice RC10, but i gave it to IRC and you give me these shitty parts? this stuff is total crap. Nobody should ever buy any of IRC's steel parts. IM DONE. I think its time for me to surender and buy a Kyosho...

no. its not the conector for the starter. it is somewhere between the piston and the flywheel. is it possible that the flywheel is slipping? how do you remove the clutch and flywheel? it would be very helpful if you took some pics. also, what kind of pipe is that on your vulk? and what are the other two engines outside?

hey. i just broke both of my plastic diffs in my vulcan, so i bught the steel ones. they went in pretty easy, but the striped out almost emediatly during the first run. was i suposed to go through a break in procedure or something? is there a warentee on the gears? are they made of super cheapo crappy metal, or were they just painted plastic? also would i break something if i lock the diffs, becasue ,i jb welded the plastic ones together and i wanna try it, but i wanna know if it would break into a billion tiny pises.[:@][:@][:@][:@][:@][:@][:@][:@]
