RE: TBM DV8R anyone have one or about too?
No, but I do remember my ailerons being up about 3/8". The Flap setting I don't. However, it was a fair amount, maybe around 3.5 " down measured at the trailing edge would be a good start. However, I don't remember this setting. Where we fly, we can't make long approaches as it flys over some property (care takers house) so it's a bit more difficult to bleed the speed off and set it down. As most know, if you land with a bit too much speed, it will start bouncing. The crow allowed me to turn to base, and then final about 75 yards out from the end of the runway. I was on the runway most of the time about the 250-300 foot mark. For me, it made a world of difference. Go back thru the thread and do a search on my postings in this thread. I may have put those setting in here somewhere. The DV8R is a very nice flying jet. I do miss it.

RE: TBM DV8R anyone have one or about too?
Crow will take care of that bounce... not to mention it creates lots of drag. This allows short turns to base to final and put down in a short span of runway. When I had mine, crow made a world of difference in how it handled the landing.

RE: TBM DV8R anyone have one or about too?
I don't know about the other ones, but in my opinion, 7955's for flaps are way overkill. I used JR 8231 servos for flaps. They are only like 90oz. They where very effective and I never noticed any blow back on flaps. Keep in mind, I flew my dv8r with both a rhino and a cheetah. In fact, i did a test and put a weight meter on the flaps, hooked up to the same location as the servo and used a stihl blower (100mph + air, lots of air as well) and the max force indicated was just shy of 2lbs. as for the other servos, make sure these are not the hitec 56xx series that do not center well. Some of them had this issue. It will drive you nuts on any model, more so on a jet if they don't center well. Hope that helps.

Had 0 issues when I flew mine with the rhino. If you have flown it with the cheetah, it will be very similar, with a bit more push in the vertical. However, I did have to add nose weight to balance for the rhino. However, there was not a large difference between the two. Have fun.

RE: Rhino problems!! WHERE ARE YOU ERIC!!!
Just a head up, if you are using a UAT tank, this can be an issue as well. I have seen larger turbines pull so hard on the fuel system that small air bubbles form in the tank, and eventually into the turbine. Make sure when the turbine is at full power the sides of the UAT do not pull in. Hopefully you find out what the issue is.

RE: TBM DV8R anyone have one or about too?
I would not use delays in flap deployment. If your radio is capable of multiple flight modes, then setup your flap switch to its own flight mode (as in moving the flap switch initiates a flight mode). Then separate your trims for flight modes. Go up high, fly level and around 1/4 power or so, well above stall speed, but not so fast it rips your flaps off! lol. Deploy flaps will will cause it to pitch, trim until it flies level or slight nose down... this is preference of pilot. Then, when you flip flap, you already have everything mixed, it's easily trimmed, and simple. Some people don't like crow, but I will tell you that it turned this airplane into a totally different airplane when landing. Those that have had issues when landing (bouncing) will all but eliminate this. This is just my opinion, and preference. If you look further back in the thread, I gave some starting figures of where the elevator may end up when flaps are deployed. Hope this helps. BTW, this programing was done on a Futaba 12fg, I am sure JR radios have similar functions like this. Just another view point. The reason I do this is I fly all my models (helis, jets, aerobatic) on flight modes. So it was just nature to do this as well.

Would I be better off with say some Stampedes 4x4 VXL's? They are more money, but wondering if the durability would be a bit better.

RE: OFFICIAL MINI E-REVO THREAD!!!
Guys, I am looking to pick up two of these for my boys 11 and 12. They have exp. in driving rc cars from savages to 1/5 baja. I am not worried about their skill set. They are wanting something electric, not to fast, but thats fun to play around. I was thinking rc18, but I rather have something a tag bigger, but without going to 1/10 or 1/8 size. If I left these stock, and ran either stock batts in parrallel or a 2s setup, would the speed still be around 30-35 mph? I don't want them to go to fast as i would like the trucks to last. What are your thoughts?

RE: I'm back with a couple more questions 1/16th's
Hi guys, I am looking at purchasing two of these for my boys. (11 and 12). This would allow them to run with me when I go to the airfield and fly or bash just around the parking lot. I have a few questions: If I just run them on a 2s lipo setup, more for duration than speed, will they still hold up well? They like my rc18, but I rather go with something a tad larger. I don't mind the 30-40 mph tops, but don't want them going any faster. If I could get a 30 minute run with a speed around 30, I think the revo and equipment would be much happier. any suggestions?

This is why in my earlier post I suggested Crow setup. You don't have to have it, but it makes it land 100% easier. I hope all is ok and you get it back together without too much work.

When I had my cheetah and Rhino, I weighed them both. I do remember the Rhino weighing over 4lbs. I remember the cheetah weighing right around 3lbs. I think the rhino is about 1.2-1.4 lbs heavier. I don't remember the exact figures. I think the actual weight was in the viper thread where the one RCU member built the viper for Eric. Sry, as I forget his username. If I remember right, it showed right at 3lbs.

RE: Weight difference between Rhino and Cheetah and old p120
Get the cheetah. I had both in the same airframe. There was very very little performance diff. between the cheetah and rhino. However, the cheetah was much better on fuel for the same performance. Plus, it was at least a full pound lighter than the rhino. The rhino is an awesome engine, but I would take a cheetah any day of the week over the rhino. If you are putting this in a flash or ultra flash, the clear winner is the cheetah. I had a cheetah in a GJC F-15, no bypass ducting. Straight and level flight it hit 180 (varified both with gps and radar) and in a very min. dive (shallow slope) it hit 205mph. I would think you can expect better performance with your flash!

I have owned both the rhino and cheetah. The cheetah is a full pound lighter than the rhino installed. You will used much less fuel that the rhino as well. The push is very close to the same.

RE: Skymaster/Xtreme F-15 CG issue?
I don't remember where the cg was on the f-15 I had (it was a GJC Jet Legend, but same diff) and it was fine. I balanced it with the uat full, all other tanks empty. You could slowly move the cg aft, but if that time comes where you have to do a few approaches and you just about empty that main tank, you might exp. a tail heavy jet. I think you will find that you can go back on your cg some.

Does it exhibt any bad habbits, or does it run really smooth? 3. Is there hesitation on throttle up, or is that smooth? 4. How does it pull the corsair thru the air? Would it be able to pull large loops or is it boarder line underpowered? Thanks, Larry

RE: TBM DV8R anyone have one or about too?
I flew mine with a Rhino for a bit. I had to cut the rails for it to fit between them. You won't have any issue there, just a pain to cut them while the jet is together. As for power, I don't think it's too much. I would not do full throttle passes, and if you do keep them to about 2-3 seconds max. I mainly used the power on take offs and vert. climbs. Most of the time I was at 1/2 power. Keep in mind the dv8r is a large jet, with thick wing. Not made to go 220mph. I had mine up to 180 mph straight and level and it the speed was still picking up when I backed off the power and pulled up a bit to bleed speed off. This is just my opinion. You will love the way the dv8r flys.

RE: Anyone having issues with Airpower Air line fittings?
The fittings from clippard are very good. They have reducers, tee fitings, 4 way, just about any barbed fitting. They are all one unit, no where to leak. They also have a very good barb on them, seals and retains the airline very good. In fact, you are not going to pull the airline off without cutting it. There airline is is also very nice, seals everytime, is is very reasonable in price.

RE: Jet crash at the Nall ?
ORIGINAL: wojtek I'm pretty sure the 12FG Dom was flying was an issue with the pots .. take a search for those issues and a lot of the guys have had them on the pots .. Id stay away from the FG line. I originally got a 12fg and found i could not center one of my servos , it was always out on that one stick ... I read about guys who had theirs warranty repaired to just loose planes to the same problem again. I returned mine just in time, and got a 12z instead ( same pots and gimbals as the 14mz) I still think the FASST tech is better, but thats my personal opinion on how the frequency hopping works. id rather loose a plane to pilot error any day over a radio caused lock :( ~V~
The 12fg uses the same pots as the 12mz and 14, but not the same gimbals. The way the pots are secured in the 12fg is a crappy design. Most will not have issues with the pots, but those that fly helicopters that do rapid stick movements may be able to bump the pot off center. This was an issue with mine that I fixed myself by putting the pot back at center and then adding a spot of glue to prevent the pot from moving. Since then, my 12fg has been spotless. As for the pot issue, the 14 that used the earlier pot design had major issues until they updated to the newer pot design (12fg and 12z both use this pot now).
