RE: [Awaiting Approval]
I switched from futaba to Airtronics also.....my sd10 has been flawless on reception in 30-100 cc gassers, never a hiccup. only drawback is when slaving a aux channel to a aileron/elevator or rudder, it will not work at over 100% travel. being i fly 3d i like to max everything. its the only flaw i have found.

RE: Regulation passed the House
Quote: SEC. 336. SPECIAL RULE FOR MODEL AIRCRAFT. (a) In General.Notwithstanding any other provision of law relating to the incorporation of unmanned aircraft systems into Federal Aviation Administration plans and policies, including this subtitle, the Administrator of the Federal Aviation Administration may not promulgate any rule or regulation regarding a model aircraft, or an aircraft being developed as a model aircraft, if (1) the aircraft is flown strictly for hobby or recreational use; (2) the aircraft is operated in accordance with a community-based set of safety guidelines and within the programming of a nationwide community-based organization; (3) the aircraft is limited to not more than 55 pounds unless otherwise certified through a design, construction, inspection, flight test, and operational safety program administered by a community-based organization; (4) the aircraft is operated in a manner that does not interfere with and gives way to any manned aircraft; and (5) when flown within 5 miles of an airport, the operator of the aircraft provides the airport operator and the airport air traffic control tower (when an air traffic facility is located at the airport) with prior notice of the operation (model aircraft operators flying from a permanent location within 5 miles of an airport should establish a mutually-agreed upon operating procedure with the airport operator and the airport air traffic control tower (when an air traffic facility is located at the airport)). (b) Statutory Construction.Nothing in this section shall be construed to limit the authority of the Administrator to pursue enforcement action against persons operating model aircraft who endanger the safety of the national airspace system. (c) Model Aircraft Defined. In this section, the term ``model aircraft'' means an unmanned aircraft that is (1) capable of sustained flight in the atmosphere; (2) flown within visual line of sight of the person operating the aircraft; and (3) flown for hobby or recreational purposes. dunno looks to me like ama just got themselves a mandatory sign up if people wanna fly their models. Being they are the only "nationwide community-based organization" I am not sure some fancy pants lwyer like is gonna get this shot down....AMA charges dues. does this not give them a monopoly? I am not anti AMA before ya start in on that.....just seeing a huge hole here.

you must mean c/.10 &.20 which is about what a factory wall wart puts out. Even on a 700 mah pack.... my charger will not put out 14 amps....which is a c20 charge for it. nimh usuallly .4c max On ,my 2500 mah tx pack (aa batts) i charge it at .4 amps. If I try to charge any faster i get a false peak. And they do get warm when right at the end of the charge. I charge my 2300 mah A123's at 4.6 amps.

I doubt very much the "AMA pilots" thought it was illegal. It was a permitted photo shoot for a movie/series whatever the heck that show is, trailer video. As thepamster said, this is making much ado about nothing. As far as "AMA pilots" go.... I see quite a few that should be in another hobby. AMA membership does not make a competent flyer. I bet 85% get AMA only because they have to due to club policies. What makes a "AMA pilot" so great? training? LOL proficiency? double LOL. You can see my satire here and it is intended, These are toy airplane we build and fly for FUN. If ya wanna spread sour grapes and we are all doomed stuff.... go ahead. FAA is not after our hobby. They are after control of commercial uas systems, not our toy airplanes, but if we make a big enuff stink about every little thing WE see. I am sure they will be happy to oblige. Now i got this off my chest....im gettin back to the Katana build. fuse cross braces should be dry.

RE: working age of Ni-Mh
I pulled this off Red's battery clinic.... it has alsways served me well: Q: How do I know if my pack is fully charged? * Temperature is the key.. always, always, always! IF THE PACK AIN'T WARM AT THE END OF THE CHARGE ROUTINE, IT AIN'T CHARGED! Note I said 'warm'. Not HOT! Hot is NEVER GOOD at the end of the charge routine.. but warm is OK. If using a temp probe, set it for 10 degrees above AMBIENT. If it's a peak controlled charger and the charger shuts down before the pack is slightly warm to the touch.. IT AIN'T FULLY CHARGED. If it's a timer controlled charger and at the end of the charge period the pack is not warm.. it's NOT fully charged yet! By far and away the biggest reason for low capacity numbers is undercharging.. if you have a 5 gallon pail with only 3 gallons in it, your only gonna get 3 gallons out of it. Engage your brain.. check temperature at the end of the charge routine! * here is the link. http://www.hangtimes.com/rcbattery_faq.html

I run em a max of 2 years....that being said i got away from em except for ignition batteries this year. new batt technologies are impressive. Correct me if i am wrong but I was told when a nimh batt hits full charge it will be warm, if it is not it is not fully charged. Always used that for a method to see if it false peaked on me.

I don't believe my thoughts are skewed at all. I am not anti ama..... I do think the ama is focusing all funds but what is needed to keep the membership believing it is acting in their interest , after that is settled the rest goes to muncie. Do not have much choice in the deal. need it to fly so it is what it is. as far as monuments.... what is the museum....it is a monument to the AMA's version of what modeling is. I am done here.

just take some silicon and use it to cover the back of the switch to support the wires. it will be fine, the problem was the wires breaking right at the end of the solder. (cheap wire i guess) I have one on the edge and it has worked great all season. for the extra few ounces, go with the sub c, the aa cells only belong on the ignition in that bird. the plane wont notice the added weight. on the 2 or 3 line tank, No, its a matter of choice, i just like to keep em simple as possible. I have use both setups and either works great. About restraining the plane...... I didn't mention that and it is ULTRA important. The prop will eat ya if it gets any chance at all.

RE: First Run Help / DLE 30 V2
medium tygon for fuel line.....no silicon, it melts. 2 line tank, put a t on the clunk to motor line, run the extra line out the side of the fuse. fill and drain from there. use a fuel dot to plug the filler line and seat in the fuse. need a gas rated tank stopper too plastic ends on throttle control separate ign and radio wiring. toss the supplied plug for your motor, go get a NGK cm6 plug. gap at .024 set the needles to factory spec and fire it off. DO NOT tune it rich for break in.... this aint a glow motor set high end to best rpm without sagging, then set low speed for transition. if it is slow idling down richen the low just a hair. 19/8 or 10 prop is my suggestion but you can go with a 20/6 if you want to slow the plane down some more. (plus it pulls like mule) get it running stable and break it in in the air. cools much better. Mine does not like a fresh off the charger 4.8 batt, gets a high speed pop. I just cycle off 100 mAH and it does not do it anymore....dunno why but it seems to be common. most of all have fun with yer new motor!

wow cap.....that's one way of thinking about it .... i guess.....dont forget to tell us how ya really feel. when i bought the radio i also bought quite a few extra receivers. I am in pretty deep right now to just sell at a loss and buy something else. I cant speak for par, but i really like this radio and want it to work... I also think they will make it work for us 3D guys, there is one heck of a market for it if they get this ironed out. I think they try to give us what we need also....for all types of flyers. If i had known of this before buying it I don't know if i would have still got it and just bought the gizmos to make it work or moved on. I really cant say. I think the whole deal here is just surprise and disappointment it does not do it. What really surprises me is this radio has been out this long and this is just discovered.

RE: sd-10g 2 servos per aileron surface c-mix does not work right past 100% throw
gotta watch those dangerous pdf files! Thank you Mike for the quick and courteous response . hopefully some sort of cure can be found for the basic issue tho, mixing power is excellent, you can do most anything. just the mixes needs to be able to run the full amount of servo travel for 3D stuff. we needs sails to blow around. i have tried both and i can actually do better just renaming the channels I need the same as the master and playing with the linkage. y cables are not a acceptable option for me couple 4-5 amp servos on a 3-4 amp plug, i have learned to deal with that on single servos as i have to use extensions with the stupid light duty plugs anyhow. (still don't like it) ......... i was really hoping to avoid a section board, reverser or match box. It also kills any chance of using the delay function to help match the servos. The main reason for me selecting this radio was these options and now i find they don't work for my app. Anyhow!, my rant is done, just hoping for a update!

RE: sd-10g 2 servos per aileron surface c-mix does not work right past 100% throw
Parpar posted the pdf. on another site and i got it from there. In post 35 i quoted from the pdf. this setup still necessitates the use of a reverser or matchbox on the rudder and elevator. all it cures is the ailerons at the cost of dual elevator and rudder channels. It still requires the purchase of "gizmos" (spendy gizmos at that" to make it work for this application. using a y cable I cannot believe is even in there. what we need is a "patch" (a better word escapes me right now) that allows the c-mix slave to go to 150% travel. I am not worried about getting power into the rx as i am setting up duals. so i have open channels to supply power. here is the last para: NOTE: All of the above Mixer values are trial values. Fine-tune and set up servo centers, throws, reversing and EPA’s as required. Engine Throttle is controlled by the Motor channel. Set Low Throttle to read L 50% as a trial value so the Throttle advances normally.... Throttle Trim is controlled by VR7. Engine Kill is controlled by Switch 32. Dual Elevator (CH 01), and Dual Rudder (CH 04) servos are obtained using a “Y harness. End Point Adjustments as well as Servo Reversing will affect both of the Elevator servos as well as both Rudder servos... If one servo needs to be reversed, it can be done using the EMS Servo Reverser from Electronic Model Systems

RE: Any thoughts about these servos for Gas planes?
for what it is worth... My nickle in the pot. Besides im snowed in and got nuthin better to do. At least use a metal gear servos on the ele.... strip the ele servo and yer done. I would use mg on everything. its a 10 pound missile looking for a reason to rekit itself Battery: the AA cells may not put out the amperage required. if you draw too hard on it voltage will drop and a "brownout" will ensue. If you have a capable charger look into the life or a123 batts of the same mAh rating. (A123 is just a quality brand of life technology) If you dont have the charger go for the larger Nimh cell 4/5 A? cant remember i went li- on everything but ignition a few years back. The larger cell has a lower internal resistance and will keep the voltage up under a heavier load. biggest deal on the servos is to buy a decent one, metal gear for ele minimum and to meet or exceed the manuf. spec. for the plane. (red the online manual...didnt see specs.) Throttle servo, dont run cheap there....they take alot of vibration. get a decent servo for it. I use metal gear on all mine. a 625mg works well, pretty fast and fairly strong. I would use 625's on it all. they are still strong enuff at 6v and quicker. same price tho, thats up to you and am sure i will git nailed for telling you to use to weak of a servo. another servo to look at is the hd9150, digital around 200 oz.in. torque. and about 2 cents more than a 645. have over 100 flights on my 30 cc ulti with em and they have worked as advertised without a hitch. The 1501 is good servo also it has more torque, but is analog and does not center as well. Friend is running them on a 90" edge with a g-62. been solid for him all season. probably 75 flights they run about 23 bucks bought state side, 13 if ya order offshore.
