Hobby Lobby B-17
I've been looking for a B-17 for years! I have an American Eagle kit but haven't had the time or money to start it yet. So when I saw and started to read the reviews of the Hobby Lobby B-17 I had to have one. So here it is, I did shave the chin turrent down a little bit and they had the wrong tail gunners position for the Nine"0"nine, she had the earlier tail shared with the "F" model not the latter "cheyanne" tail turrent. And she was to clean and shiney for her 140 mission markings so I weathered her up to look like she 's flown 1,129 combat hours and had over 20 engine changes! We'll take her out to the field for her first flights Saturday.

RE: WWI and WWII aces
My vote would be for Joe Foss USMC. For shooting down 26 at the time some of the best trained pilots Japan had. When you figure they were flying the outmatched f4f Wildcat against the much more nimble Zero. And the maintance and living conditions the air crews of the Cactus airforce had to deal with I think they deserve a vote.

The Vought XF5U "Flying Flapjack" was an experimental U.S. Navy fighter aircraft designed by Charles H. Zimmerman during World War II. This unorthodox design consisted of a flat, somewhat disc shaped body (hence its name) serving as the lifting surface.[1] Two piston engines buried in the body drove propellers located on the leading edge at the wingtips

Okay let's go back to name that pilot: 1. He was a WW2 ace. 2. when he got his wings he was considered to be to old to be a Fighter pilot at the age of 26. 3. He was kown for his aggressive close in fighter tactics and his uncanny gunnery skills.

I love the B-17. It's the only plane with a big tail that was flown by so many differant airforces that I could think of. The Germans had a few that they patched together after force landings to evaluate their field of fire and also to shadow the bomber formations to radio headings and altitudes to the flack guns. Give me a little while and I'll try to come up with a good question.

One of the proudest day's in my life was watching my youngest son march across the Parade Deck at Paris Island. The same deck that I and my father and my Uncle marched across. Tell your Grandson Semper Fi, and when he earns the right to hold the Eagle, globe and Anchor he'll be part of the Marine Corps family for life!

When your engine quits on the far end of the runway someone alway's shouts " this is when the HOBBY becomes a SPORT take a HIKE!" Or when you you've just bounced one in several times on a landing someone will say " It dosen't matter how many bounces you take. It's still only one landing fee!"

Zippome you got it. The A-20 was one of our first multi use planes, and yes they did make a transport version of it. More of a utilty plane than a transport. My Dad spent 30+ years with the FAA and one of his boss's flew an A-20 with the 3rd. in the south pacific. He thought it was the best plane he ever flew, Did the work of a bomber but handled like a fighter. http://www.militaryfactory.com/aircraft/detail.asp?aircraft_id=186

No not the P-38 or The B-25. I've been a fan of this forum since it started up, and I have learned so much from ya'll. So I think this will be an easy one but here we go. Name the Plane: 1. It was used by mutiple countries. 2. It was designed as a multi role aircraft with differant armament packages. 3. It was used from the begining thru the end of WW2. 4. It was used in almost every theater during the war. 5. It was multi engined. 6. the number of the crew varied from 3 to 4 depending on the variant. 7. It was designed as a light attack aircraft, but it was also used as a med. bomber, night fighter and a transport version was also used.
