RE: NVS NEMESIS CAT BUILD
Ok back to i remove the cat from mold after joining just un bolt the two mold halves an gently pry them apart releasing the hull as you see im left with a little flashing on the join of finished product On gelcoat finish hulls i just lightly sand the join and dress it with wet an dry sand paper but this hull will be painted so ill let them do it

Now im giving a hint of which way im getting the boat painted and signed but it wont be identical to this you will all have to wait and see till later in the build There is a new paint scheme for Maritimo it will be at Redcliffe this weekend racing so all you local guys come down and have a look

RE: NVS NEMESIS CAT BUILD
Ok now that i have laid the deck and hull up i wait till its ready to green trim with a sharp knife once i have done this i let it sit for the rest of the day and following morning i clean the edges up mix a slow joining bog with gelcoat and carbosil use a putty knife and place the bog on the joining edges of deck and hull getting the right ammount takes experimenting but if not sure better to have a little to much than not enough Now both halves are bogged i bolt the hull and deck molds together firmly Ive made a slow bog that will take about an hour to go off so before it goes off i do the painful job of glassing the 2 pieces together on the inside with layer of 325 gram woven tape Ill just add this is a right pain in the you know what im sure Scott of dreaming hemi will agree on this as its the same boat as his [:)] Need to have words with the fool who designed it (that would be me )

RE: NVS NEMESIS CAT BUILD
Ok time for some more pics I use FGI products great company has every thing you want in fibreglass if you in Australia My layup for the cat is 225 chop strand mat with a 325 gram E Glass cloth an a vinyl ester resin but a good quality general purpose resin is also good and cheaper The methop i use is to mix a lightweight bog usually carbosil put it in the problem areas like sharp edges an corners then wet whole job out with resin and place 225 glass in first i roll it and use small brush to get air out of laminate and excess resin then place the 325 gram woven cloth straight over the laminated 225 I do not add any more resin unless i really have too as the woven cloth will soak up the resin thats in the 225 if you do have a dry area just apply a little resin the idea is to get a good finish without the puddled look and keeps weight down

RE: NVS NEMESIS CAT BUILD
Remember we had big power it was a 90 cmbnitro motor approx 8 to 10 hp not a gas motor that we used Most quickdraws in avenger will hit low to mid 60s Yes was stable around mid 60 bit wild after that but i guess what boat wouldnt be Test boat ran 53mph with mild mod zenoah 26

RE: exhaust wraps
A dry pipe will make more power over a wet tuned pipe Benefits of wet tuned pipes is it is quieter and keeps interior of boat cooler specially when it has enclosed hatch When i swap my pipes from wet to dry i picked up about 3 mph

RE: Engine Dyno
You cant measure horsepower with the way i suggested but you can set tune up at the location where you race Horsepower is irrelevant in motors you are better off looking for a nice torque curve and drivabilty With the class 1 boat we a restricted to 930 hp per motor so we chase torque it makes a massive difference on the race course

RE: NVS NEMESIS CAT BUILD
Ok some of the mold pics notice i have tempoary hatch ridge in my mold did this till i was kind of happy i had the hatch shape i wanted Hatch is a bit small but i wanted it that way so the deck would remain a structural part of boat and reduce twisting under load

RE: NVS NEMESIS CAT BUILD
Yes as Scott said above I would go as far to say his mold is better than mine i have not remoulded mine as yet as i want to use the hatch that he changed a little but other than that they are identical As for number 1 boat we were doing speed runs with radar it had a 90 picco or cmb i cant recall but roughly 8 hp and a bunch of revs my mate set it up was technically his boat hahaha As i built a second test boat for more testing with zenoah Last run we did it was showing high 60s[;)] on radar and it proceeded to get un settled lift off water an head towards us on the bank holding the radar As you guys know rudders dont work on boat if they are airbourne next move was to run for cover then it hit the beach with rocks catapulted into a tree and then my mates 4WD the boat was a total wreck Now a warning guys do not do radar check on fast boats and have them coming at you use a gps or some other form of way of measuring speed we were lucky we did not get seriously injured or killed I now have a eagle tree telemetry and ADS speedo to use and a bit more common sense

RE: NVS NEMESIS CAT BUILD
Ok some pics of the plug at panel shop as you can see i made the shape solid no hatch so i could mold prototype hull to test and change if needed the black and white boat is boat number one this boat housed during testing a zenoah to begin with then a 90 nitro motor so i could get a basline how the hull wil handle at 40mph range and high 60mph range This boat was soon destroyed with a high speed accident into several thing on the embankment [:o] rocks tree and truck

RE: exhaust wraps
Also the hotter the pipe it will make the motor act as though it has a longer pipe on it A lot of guys will swear by stainless or steel pipes as they are more consistent with tune as the heat range is stable as opposed to aluminium or wet pipes

RE: Engine Dyno
If you know a fitter and turner get him to machine up a power disc F1 power boat racers use them on real boats to load motor up with out worrying about thrust it work on the tesla effect Its bit like a fly wheel but goes in the water the drag on the surface of disc causes friction hence set a load on the motor you may need to experimenting to get right diameter for the right drag you just fit where the prop would go

RE: gluing deck to hull?
Go with the 2 part epoxy glus chuck a little bit of talcum powder in it to thicken it up that way you will get a thicker bonding join the talcum powder will also allow you to dress the join if you have as it will make the epoxy a bit easier to sand

RE: Why you want full length stringers
You dont have to put full length stringers in boats true many stop a third of the way from the front Cats technically have full length because of the tunnel shape End of the day judging the the pic of the damage to the red boat shown in this thread full length stringers may have prevented some of the damage but it would still be a mess to fix Water is a powerful force and at speed will wreck most things

RE:
It works better on high revving small capacity nitro motors What it does it soften the pulses in the manifold making the reversion of fuel charge more even allowing you to get a better tune up and throttle response that is manageable mainly used for cars If you wondering a about the fuel reversion or inlet mist check the formula 1 car motors out on youtube on dyno runs they show injection trumpet shots you will see a mist The way the balance it out is with a plenum chamber which is effectively the same as a boost bottle

RE: my nemesis cat build
The hatch is not fouling the throttle linkage when its on I watched the vid if was airflow problem it would rev then smother itself your boat just seems to get stuck at certain rev and thats it I run a zenoah but i would imagine your motor should be similar in carb setup and placement Try running boat with hatch on but space the back of hatch up about 1cm with a block of foam or wood and tape it then slowly lower it after each run it will give you air but also see if it is fouling on anything

ok i drew this roughly on a hatch and its what works with my boat Also you may have fallen to the tuning issue of tuning without hatch and then trying to run with hatch your motor probably goes a bit rich with hatch on
