RE: HELP!
What is the surface the boat will be used in? The hydro will require small waves while the deep-v will handle waves without issues. Might help steer you in the right direction. The Cat's will like both types of water!

RE: K&B 3.5 OB Wants To run Backwards?
You might be taking the starter off to soon. Keep it on just a tad bit longer when the motor is just firing up. I currently use a 24v system on all my boats. It's been awhile since I've had this problem. The proper setting on the needle is around this condition. When fired up, the motor takes a few seconds to clear out the fuel and then the motor revs up. If it clears right up, too lean, doesn't want to clear up, too rich. On the "right" turn out setting for needle placement, it's only a starting point. I've recently started to use a flow meter and found out something very interesting. While turning in the needle, it went rich. When turning the needle out, it became lean. This was on one of my SS motors. The other worked ok. Just shows that not all needles are created equal.

RE: AMPS hulls & outboards pics & tips {Agnew Model Propulsion Systems}
The listing was placed out there Monday. Starting price was $50, reserve $1000 with a Buy Now of $1500.. It was sad to see that people were watching but no bids [:@] [:(] Man, thought no one would want this old ugly boat [8D] Woke up this afternoon (hey, I work night shift!) and nearly pooped my pants.. [:D] Holy crap, now I gotta box it up nice and sweet like cuz someone just put out the big bucks! Sorry Stealth, don't recall ya asking about the boat.. Then again, I'm getting grey and the ole brain cells are dying off quickly! Ken, it will be a very nice addition to your collection! For the age of the boat, it is in very good shape.. Sure did shine up. One can see the clouds in the reflection of the pics taken. And it was an overcast day when I took them. RE:
After sleeping, thought about that mount. It's not for a 3rd channel setup, sorry.... I do have one of the units, but have never used it. Believe it is supposed to angle the motor when the motor is turned. Don't have the instructions, so not too certain how it's supposed to be setup. If you switch to another type of mount, one that gives better adjustment, you can get the motor in a more proper setting. I have a few old prather mounts, you can have if you want. PM me your addy and I'll get it sent out in short order.

RE: Prop for K&B 3.5 outboard
Place the boat on a flat surface, one with a cut out for the skeg to fit into is better. If not, then extend a ruler or something that is flat that fits under the boat. With the spoonsons flat on the surface, how does the thrust angle of the prop compared to the flat surface? If the prop is pointing up, that is positive angle. If the prop is pointing down, negative angle. After looking at your pics more closely, it appears you have the old version of a 3rd channel angle adjustment motor mount. If that is not working, replace it with a mount that adjusts up/down and neg/pos. You truely have an "old school" boat there!

Quickly looked at Blazer Marine and RCMarine (Phil Thomas), both of their sport 20 hydros are 30" and 29.5" respectivly. Blazer listed their Sport 40 at 36", Phil did not listed a lenght for his Sport 40. Should give you an idea on what you may need for a boat length.

DO NOT USE MARVEL MYSTERY OIL.... PERIOD, end of story.. MMO will dry out and leave a film on EVERYTHING... It will act as if it is loctite. I've thrown out motors because I did this. If you want to use anything in a motor, use ATF (or commonly known as after run oil).. Marvel Mystery TOOL OIL is also fine.

Believe that is an early Hot Shot. Prop shaft bottom should be around the spoon bottom, with maybe a little neg angle to it. Here's a vid of my [link=http://www.rcflix.com/photopost/data/506/6122.mpg]Hot Shot Sprint[/link] (wood) with K&B SS using a Props-4-U x1440 b/c. Boat will run mid 40's all day long.

As my friend from Venezuela has stated, get the VS1 with a OS and learn to tune it for proper speed and handleing. The Lawless is still around. As for the Hyper Prod lower, stay away from it. I've seen them run in the past. To work properly, they need work. Don't waste your money.
ORIGINAL: Pbrain Hi specialk1 I am a new member in the UK. Thats a very interesting collection you have. I have a AMPS T4 outboard with a fox 40. Its had little use and is in excellent condition I also have the power adjustment thingy and photo copys of some original advertisements from 1976 model boat magazine when the cost of the T4 was £135.00 GBP. I am looking to sell have you any idea of the current value Best regards Brian
Brian, Is this what you have? If so, it is not a Fox .40, but a Fox .36 rx. I inquired on another RCU forum thread and found out what motor it is. At least now I know when this motor was out in circulation. Any information you can pass along will be appreciated. RE: what 1/4 F1 gas tunnel hulls sold in the usa ?
I'm also in the middle of an Illusion build. While at the Toledo show, Joe had about 30+ secs of vid of the boat running. Boat cornings very well, even with the lack of dead rise. Make sure the CG is set back around 24% or so. I understand the boat does not want to be up around 30% as the smaller tunnels require. The Aeromarine boat does not turn well, maybe lane 20 or so. I sold mine the year after buying it. Mike Crawford of Woodstuff Racing also builds a large WOF tunnel for gas.

RE: Outboard Tunnel Hull Question
First off, make the pic a bit smaller. The smaller boat looks like a Dumas Hot Shot Sprint ABS. The other appears to be an Aeromarine Predator.. How long is the other boat? It appears to be one for a 7.5 motor. Many racers user 7.5 boats with 3.5 mounted to run on those NASTY windy race days.

RE: tunnel hull newbie please help
The O.S. motor is the choice of racers for the 3.5 class today. One can always pickup a MAC, CMB, Rossi or Nova Rossi and place them on a K&B style lower... If just playing around, good ole K&B is still a good choice if a decent one can be found.

What boat do you have? It does not take much for the boat to turn a decent radius. To much movement can make a boat to spin out.
