RE: great planes laser incidence meter
Thanks for the info-good link too. Things are a little different now than 20 years ago.

great planes laser incidence meter
I recently purchased a great planes incidence meter. I have been out of rc for about 20 yrs and just recently got back into it. My question is I am trying to determine my thrust before I put on the cowl. I used the stabilizer to 0 out and then measured the thrust which came out to -1. I know I want about 1 degree of downthrust but I have not put any into the thrust (yet). I was wondering if ARF's (my plane is an aeroworks edge 540 46-60) today are already including downthrust in the firewall. Also, the incident meter states the weight of the meter may alter read but only suggests I hold the rod while initially attaching it. That seems to defeat the point of the meter since I am guessing how much the rod is bending due to its weight. Any suggestions?

RE: KMP / YT Me 109 E Build Thread
I am happy with my KMP 109 and would probably try your 190A next. No hurry at all for another 109.

Saito has a 170 radial-says it will fit most 120-150 installations

RE: KMP / YT Me 109 E Build Thread
Alan, Ironically, I bought the 109 because the stuka ARF was on backorder and the 190A hadn't been developed. The 190A ARF was really what I was after all along. But I am happy that I bought the 109 as it is a great ARF. I will order the 190A when I complete the 109. I am surprised the composite will be lighter but I am happy to hear it. Like I said, I have been out of RC for quite a while but I just remembered how heavy all of the glassed pattern planes were in the 80's. One problem I heard with the any 190 was overheating (just like the real ones). Have you noticed that with your new ARF. Also, I would like to try a radial and I wondered if any of your test pilots had tried them and how well do they fit under the cowl?

RE: KMP / YT Me 109 E Build Thread
Understand I have been out of RC for about 20 yrs and just recently got back into it. I would think an all fiberglass (composite) would be a heavier plane than the last one with the built up wings. I have just begun working on my 109 but have reviewed this thread often. So far (based on a consensus that I have seen on this thread) I have ordered shindin retracts and glennis wheels because of the landing gear problems that have been addressed on this thread. That has run me about $425.00. Paul indicated the new price of about $650-700.00 (about the same as the new fw-190A) but still with new generation retracts. I would rather see that addressed for the extra $200 than all composite plane. I did not build many scale aircraft when I was in RC but built plenty of Stiks so I am sure there are many on this thread that know alot more than me. But I am interested in Warbirds that look scale and fly great. Probably not an easy mix but I would take function over looks. If it looks great and flies scale I would be happy with that. From what I've read on the new FW 190A it seems alot of people on that thread seemed dissatisfied with the lack of scale. At first glance I would not have noticed the non scale areas on your FW except maybe the tail. But I would have been pulling books to make mine have a scale appearance and noticed it sooner or later. Yet I don't want a good looking scale plane that won't fly or is hell to fly. I think you and KMP do a great job but I would rather pay more for a scale looking ARF that I don't have to order anything for, even if your price was $1,000 instead of $500. I still like your 109-it was well done other than the areas mentioned before. Stan

RE: KMP / YT Me 109 E Build Thread
Paul said they are phasing out all their planes that are not all fiberglass.

RE: KMP / YT Me 109 E Build Thread
Paul at KMP just told me that they have discontinued the KMP 109 but will bring it back as an all fiberglass plane. I don't know if that is good or bad.

RE: AeroWorks Edge 540T 46-60?
I talked to Kim at Aeroworks and he said it was a magnum 91-but it sure does look like 2 valve covers instead of one like the magnum has.

RE: AeroWorks Edge 540T 46-60?
I guess I didn't look close enough. I wish I knew how the 82 would do before I put it on-I could still swap it out for a 100 if I needed too

RE: AeroWorks Edge 540T 46-60?
How will the 82 do with this plane? I have a Saito FA 82a that I want to put in this plane-I have seen the question asked a few times on this thread but never answered. It seems many have gone with the 100. I have been told that the 82a is at least as strong as the magnum 91 and has a better power to weight ratio. The magnum looked like it had plenty of power in the Aeroworks video. I have been out of RC for 20 yrs so many things are new to me including 3D, expo, dual rates, good 4 stroke engines etc... Any help I can get will be greatly appreciated. OKIE

RE: KMP Warbirds
I have ordered the ME-109 and hope to have it in by Friday. I noticed that it no longer is connected with century retracts and now provides new generation 3 retracts as part of the kit. Since I have been out of RC for about 20yrs and didn't mess with retracts that much before I couldn't tell you how it will perform on grass but I, too, will be flying from a grass field. On the advise of the other more experienced pilots at my field I ordered a Saito 180. I don't think I'll have a problem with power and I think it should fit nicely since it has the same mounting as the 120 and is only 2mm taller. Good luck with yours. OKIE

RE: Where are the giant scale FW-190's?
I just recently talked to Kondor Model products and they are planning to release in about 6 weeks a 190A ARF-probably about 1/6 scale so not a giant but with a 73" wingspan. Thats as big an ARF for a 190I've seen. Okie
