The red plastic spinner wasn't my first choice. I always use an aluminum spinner but didn't have the right prop adapter nut, so I had to use what was in my garage - the red plastic spinner. That OS .75 is one sweet motor! -oD

RE: Sig King Kobra Build
Thanks doxilia. I think I'll order another KK and make it an electric taildragger. Would like to cover it with wbpu/fiberglass but I'm not sure that's a good idea. Something tells me I should be extremely careful about the plane getting too heavy. Here's my current OS .75 powered King Kobra. oliveDrab

Has anyone considered making an e-l-e-c-t-r-i-c King Kobra? Use an electrical setup similar to the .75 size 29.6 volt setup as described by skysharkrc: http://www.skysharkrc.com/shop/?cart=307892&cat=27& (I can hear the gales of laughter now!)

My receiver only has 4 channels. I was able to program mix1 to deactive channel 4 as the rudder. Then I programmed mix2, setting channel 6 as the master and channel 4 as the slave, setting both windows to +100%. Works really well now. Thanks! -oD

Map Transmit Channel 6 to Receive Channel 4
I've got a Siren Hotliner that I want to mount a camera on. The camera (Flycamone2) has a servo on the mounting base that allows the camera to move 90 degrees. I was going to plug this servo into Channel 4 of the Hitec receiver since channel 4 is unused................'cuz there's no rudder on this plane. However, I want to use the channel 6 dial on my Futaba T7CHP transmitter to control channel 4 on the Hitec receiver. Surely there must be a way to set up channel 6 on my Futaba T7CHP transmitter to control channel 4 on the Hitec receiver. (I've managed to misplace the instructions). Thanks -oD

Am looking forward to fotos/videos of the FCO2 on your Mustang. I really liked your original mount point on top of the vertical stab so you can view the bubble canopy, flaps, straight ahead. I'm inspired! Will mount my FCO2 on my Siren Hotliner. Either on top of the wing or on the side of the fuselage. Can't mount it on the bottom of the fuse because it does belly landings on the bottom of the fuse (no landing gear). -oD

What size prop did you use on your OS 75AX? Tower Hobbies said to use 14x6, 14x7 but I just last night read a review that recommended 12x8, 13x7, 13x8 instead. Thanks oliveDrab

RE: Top-Flite T-34
I flew my Mentor today after getting it to balance correctly. Was concerned that with the weight of the plane, it wouldn't be able to get off the ground, even with the OS 1.20. I started my takeoff roll at the end of the runway, gave it full throttle, let it roll 400+ feet, then gave it up elevator. It became airborne at the end of the runway (just barely), and that's without dialing in the flaps I installed flaps but did not use them today, because, to be perfectly honest.....I don't have much experience with flaps. However, after landing I dialed in full flaps and it seemd to slow the plane down very nicely. Flies pretty good and the OS 1.20 4-stroke has an awesome growl. Looks like the O.S. 1.20 has enough power to fly my plane, even though it's fiberglassed, painted, and too heavy in my opinion. I was considering installing the O.S. 2.0 4-stroke which is approximately the same size as the O.S. 1.20 but has %43 more power - according to O.S. So now I don't actually need to buy a new motor.....the O.S. 1.20 will do just fine. (But I'm still kinda curious what the plane would fly like with the O.S. 2.0.........would it be a screaming fast beast?!?!?!?) If I had it to do over again.....I would NOT fiberglass, I would not paint........monokote instead. Keep the weight down. I've got way too much paint IMHO. By the way, the fuel economy of the O.S. 4-strokes is great, as SkyStalker mentioned. I can stay aloft for 20 minutes with my O.S. .91......similar for the O.S. 1.20. oD

RE: Top-Flite T-34
Yes , I agree with what you said about OS engines. My first engine was an OS .61FX, had a .52 4-stroke, and now also have an .91 4-stroke as well as the 1.20 4-stroke. Almost forgot - I have a .75AX stroke for the King Kobra I'm building. My 4-strokes both run for more than 20 minues on 1 tank of gas. They always start on the first pop, they're hassle free. Staying with O.S. is fine by me. But to get an O.S. 4-stroke motor more powerful than the O.S. 1.20, means getting the O.S. 160 Twin 4-stroke (cool!) or the O.S. FS-200S 2.0 4-stroke (way too much motor?). Hopefully the O.S. 1.20 will suffice. Thanks for your input about the Saito. -oD

RE: Top-Flite T-34
I have not yet figured out if a Saito 1.50 or 1.80 will fit my plane. I was going to replace the cowl anyway with one from Fiberglass Specialties so I don't mind reworking the cowl. But if I have to change motor mounts and maybe change the firewall, that's another story. Hopefully the O.S. 1.20 will be adequate, but I want my plane to speed through the sky! So I intend to investigate the Saito 1.80 or 1.50. Yes - my plane is heavier than it would be had I covered it with Monokote. The instructions claim the plane flies quite well with a .61 2-stroke! That must have been a Monokoted plane without retracts or flaps. I just might buy the cowl from Fiberglass Specialties. It's one piece, not the crappy 3-piece thing that came with the Top Flite kit. I need to investigate the Saito FG motors you've mentioned. -oD

RE: Top-Flite T-34
After covering my T34B with fiberglass cloth and oil-based polyurethane, and painting with Lustrekote (bad), my plane is heavy. I had it balanced at one time, then painted it and forgot to check the balance again. Took it to the field and had one exciting flight, because the plane was slightly tail heavy. The plane has an O.S. 1.20 4-stroke in it, which I thought would be plenty of power but it doesn't appear to be enough power - I'll fly it in within the next two weeks (after it balances correctly) and see. I was considering a Saito 1.50 or 1.80. I'm not familiar with the Saito FG-20. There was another guy on this thread who had a fantastic looking T34B done in yellow with rivets. He was using a Saito 100 and it took him 600 feet to get airborne. -oD

RE: Top-Flite T-34
Depends on how you build it. Are you going to have retracts? Retracts added time and complexity for me. Also, how are you going to cover it? I used oil-based poyurethane over fiberglass cloth which worked ok but it was time consuming. Then I painted over it with Lustrekote, which I will never do again - some other paint would have been easier to deal with. I wish I had simply Monokoted the plane, which would have been simpler and kept the plane lighter. As you may have noticed there's lots of things you can do to add to the scale-ness of the plane, such as retracts, panel lines, gear doors, sliding canopy. If you skip those things and just build the basic plane you'll probably be ok - and you'll gain lots of useful experience as you're doing it.

RE: I remember when......
I remember taking off in a Cessna 190 from a grass field outside of Tulsa, Oklahoma, then landing in Cincinatti to refuel then having a cheeseburger, fries, and a coke at an airport diner. (1959? 1960?) I remember building a Carl Goldberg flying wing and painting it with multiple thick heavy coats of PURPLE Aero Gloss dope (there's nothing that smells quite as heavenly as Aero Gloss dope). I think I know why they call it 'dope'.........the fumes melt your brain and turns you into a dope. I remember my first flight on an American Airlines 707 back in 1968 - the wings flapped as we taxied on the tarmac.
