RE: SHRIKE CLUB # 1
got me a shrike a few weeks back, actually the one quikturn had, bought it from him and he went out of his way to find cheap shipping and packed the thing tight, thx.nice looking bird.after some prop testing and tuning of the pipe i have it screaming pretty good.hardest part of hand launching is holding the plane back till i am ready to launch.when i fly the other pilots land real quick.guess they dont want to get hit hehehe.anyhow just found another locally i might pick up and change to electric.also for this one,it has a screming os 40fsr.i have a webra speed 50 that pushed a delta type plane to 150,think that would be great for this shrike.and quikturn?think you underestimated the speed with the 40.my stryker is clocked at 117 with an airspeed meter, and the shrike will pull ahead of the stryker by about 20-30 mph now with the changes so figgure its doing 130+.had a buddy fly my stryker and i was at the sticks of the shrike.hoping i can hit 150,that will put it in the speed range of one of my strykers:)

wheelnut, you need to cut the motor shaft right at the end of the prop saver, otherwise the shaft interferes with the saver doing its job.nice job on the mounting setup looks good

2 rubber bands 2 squirrel cage wheels and 2 smart squirrels.but they dont like heights so they keep it low.lol no really the way they mount you can use pretty much anything.i was using hs81's and it was fine nice thing bout the ss is you can do a lot to it and it just keeps flying one of those planes you keep with you just to fly anytime

RE: Build A Bullet Proof Stryker (Brushless Or Stock)
well after using a lot of the mods in this forum i finally maidened my stryker today. bought the replacement airframe which is a b model modified the motor mount and used the carbon tubes in the wing and fuse braced it up with duct tape instead of packaging tape cause i ran out(i always have 2 or 3 rolls of duct tape tho lol put a tp 2409/12 with a tp25a esc, 2200mh mystery 3s 15c,spectrum ar6100. first launch my buddy hand launched and i left the throttle off till after it left his hand mild with slight gusts to about 10-15 mph, soon as i hit the throttle it started climbing level out 3 clicks of down and 2 clicks right and it flew straight and level chopped the throttle and it stayed level so motor was okay using low rates with 40%expo what a rush afraid to try on high rates yet flew into the wind then turned and went full throttle oh hell whered it go and which way is it pointing? finally got it upright by seeing the fins but didnt know which way it was going after i saw it getting smaller i did a half loop with a rol and brought it backcut throttle about 50yrds out and 40 ft up came into the wind and landed as pretty as can be.second flight was more of the same what a blast i do need to paint the bottom bright color since it gets away so fast.had a 7x4 prop on it batt wasnt even warm when i brought it in after about 8 min or so had a 7x6 prop with me but dont think i'm ready for that yet, maybe next time.this thing flys well and will glide forever think i'm gonna like this for a fun plane, more controllable than my miglet and a lot more faster than my bipe[:D][:D][:D][:D]

RE: best foamy or indestructable for practising 3d.
actually just got back from flying my 1st yak went into the ground so many times i cant count always repaired easy with duct tape and glue had the motor mount stick held on with tape too after a while gave it to my buddy and he fixed thing up and took about 2 lbs (lol) of tape off of it still flys well. as long as you dont nose straight down it usually takes a pretty good licking, also its at tower hobbies for 39.99 compared to 74.99 for the flight flex you could buy 2 lol just make sure to use lots of expo on the elevator

RE: best foamy or indestructable for practising 3d.
great planes has 2 diff style yak 55's one is the flight flex and the other is a foam 3d yak 55 if you have experience with 3d then i would recommend the foamy yak over the flight flex, the wings and body flex pretty good while flying with the flexy model.just be sure that you pay attention tto the elevator assy.mine lost a half on the maiden.other than that the plane flys really well some coupling on knife edges which can be mixed out.i really enjoyed the plane and think i'll get another

i picked up a stryker replacement body kit, came with everything but elects and motor got it all together except power plant have a motor on order but was wondering if a 55edf unit would work on it.the edf has a himax 2015-4100 in it so have plenty of thrust.pushes my miglet pretty good till i nose dived it lol so its an extra edf unit now.also how did you make the tail section and whats the spec?thx

RE: Thoughts on Reactor Bipe?
just picked up the bipe and got it home. if this thing flys as good as it looks i'l be on happy camper looks like they really took the time to do the prefab on this, looks like it will go together pretty easy.am ordering the power sys and elects for it now, getting 4 hs65 servos a turnigy 35-36 motor and a 40 amp esc with a 3-5a 6 volt switchable besc.have a friend using the turnigy motors and they have a lot of torque should be enough.only prob is i have to finish my stryker first then this.will let ya know how it flys from a fairly new flyers pov.and yes i have flown some foam 3d planes and bipes so i can actually keep it in the air for a bit lololol cya[:D][:D][:D]

RE: Slow Stick Myths
easy fix on the landing gear is to find a way to mount it right behind the motor,i used an extra front wing stay with the arms cut off and set it just behind the motor as far forward as possible since then i haven't broke a prop and the plane dosent nose over onto the prop when taking off or landing. a few of my buddies use zip ties and ca to get the gear up front also

RE: F27 STRYKER Part 7 : The Basics To The Darkest of Dark
hello folks i recently went to the hobby shop for some parts for my rc truck and was looking at the stryker pnp.was thinking 250 is a bit much for a foamy but you get everything with it.prob is i have everything but the plane lol.so as i'm leaving i happen to take a last look and i see a stryker against the wall. looking at it i see its a replacement frame with everything but elects and stuff cool got it for 50.00.so now i have this jet and wondering bout prop sizes.hs81 mgs, spektrum reciever,2200 mh 20c batts ,tp 30 amp esc,6v/3a ubec, and tower pro 2409/12 outrunner mounted like in stryker basic with a bottle cap and some metal reinforcing, hoping to get some speed and maby a few climbs and loops lol any suggestions on props?thx i also have a miglet ducted fan jet but i think this will be faster, the miglet does about 50-60 with the combo i'm running.looking forward to seeing the dark side of the stryker heheheheheh

xpd8 maiden
after building the jet and looking at it i kept telling myself that this thing cant fly,it looks like a little toy and didnt seem to have much thrust.went to a really big field today to maiden it but had my doubts.okay checked all the throws and controls and spooled up the fan,my buddy hand launched it,left his hand went towards the ground and then took up upwards.all i can say is WOW this thing really scoots along.got some altitude and then started doing banks and loops, flew mostly at half throttle or less really reacts to input but had to turn dual rate up from 60% to 75 and then it got really responsive did a nice stall turn and dropped a wing and just easily pulled out of it and had 7-10 min flight, what a blast i'm loving this jet thingy cant wait to get my stryker in the air

RE: Futaba 2.4 overheat lock-out is for real
i dont have a futaba sys but i do have spektrum sys for my planes, helis and cars.spektrum did have some brownout issues with their recievers locking out for a sec or 2(i havent had a prob but my flying buddy did)and also they used very cheap plastic which was very brittle and i have had parts break like trim switches and on off switches, also usually the antenna on the transmitters break and the ar6100 reciever antennas always broke at the circuit board.i contacted spektrum/jr about these known issues and the answer i got back was they would not warranty my dx-7 because as far as they knew there were no issues. after explaining about these boards and all the issues they still denied any probs soooo its not just fut but also spektrum with probs.would be nice if they at least admit their mistakes

Later, Brad
possibly the plane you were looking at is the great planes reactor bipe, was looking into one myself really nice looking and the reviews look good

RE: New to 3D. Need indestructible plane
ORIGINAL: kid chuckles For this get the cheapest one you can find lol. Lots of 3D planes. There is one that is supposed to be nearly industr well hard to bend lol. Can't right off hand think of the name of it. Made where you can bend it and stuff and it bends back. Made of foam. I am sure someone on here knows. Precision Aerobatics has a couple 3D planes that are just great for it. But they are a little pricey and also they break real easy. But they will float around and doing 3d stuff is easier with them as they only weigh 18oz or so. If I were you I might think about a profile type foamy. You can hot glue them back togehter easy. Any wide wing with very low wing load would be my guess.
i think that your thinking of the great planes yak 55 flex flyer made of foam and bendable there are a few reviews if you do a search that plane runs about 60-70 or so another one i can say is really beatable for learning 3d is the great planes yak 55 ep 3d(not the flex flyer) i have one with an ultrafly 12 motor and 1000mh lipo and it really takes a beating but flies well this is 31.00 at tower hobbies have fun and enjoy the flights
