HELP, FAST...Which prop to run on stock zen 260?
after screwing around for 2 years, i finally got this woody ready to drop the motor in after i give it a clear coat. Was wanting to run this thing asap but the only thing i dont have is a prop. Im going to buy a prop from wharehouse hobbies and i dont have the time to balance and polish a brass prop just yet. I was looking at the 75mm and 80mm aluminum props but dont know what to really get. Its got a zen g260 with a wet pipe system that i purchased from WHH a year ago. Thanks in advance guys!

RE: Belt CP V2 vs. Honey Bee V3
The belt cp is a 400 size heli, the hb king is a 300 size heli. Both pretty good entry level birds that are 3d capable. A LOT to upgrade when you get good enough to need it. The belt cp is more stable because of its size. Its the way many get into the hobby cheap and its how i did as well. The eflite blade 400 is almost identical but with better electronics and comes with a dx6i transmitter. It is a little bit more money but in the end you will already have a decent gyro and transmitter. A lot of people upgrade to the dx6i in the end. Its cheap but has the features of the more expensive radios.

RE: Is there a market for g10 frames for esky helis?
g10 is also known as garolite. It comes in different grades, hence the number 10. Its a composite material that consists of many layers of a finely woven cloth pressed down to some crazy high amount of pressure while a resin is pumped into it then hardened. Its has a very high strength. A bit heavier than carbon fiber, a bit lighter than plastics, but stronger than both. It ALmost looks as cool as CF. still cool. Im designing a bunch of different hor and ver tail fins with different custom graphics cut into them. Any suggestions on designs?

RE: Is there a market for g10 frames for esky helis?
g10 and carbon fiber do absorb a little bit more vibration than metal but something that makes g10 even more advantageous over C.F. or metal is that g10 does not conduct ANY electricity at all which means those on FM wont have glitching issues. CF and obviously metal conduct electricity. Frames for the belt cp are available already. I will be cutting custom designed vert and horizontal stabilizers for the belt cp/ trex , Frames and Stabilizers for the E Smart, as well as a few parts for the Blade MCX.

RE: Is there a market for g10 frames for esky helis?
finally got these things into production, check out my web store: [link=http://10starhelihobby.webs.com]10starhelihobby.webs.com[/link] These frames are the perfect solution to the carbon version belt cp's flimsy frame sides. These frames incorporate light weight, high strength and impact resistance with the popular Direct TO Swash modification that many poeple are performing on their belt cp's. Bolt on these frames to eliminate all slop associated with the extra servo to swash linkage. These things will put the belt cp up to par with a t-rex. read more about it here: [link=http://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=104724]helifreak- g10 belt cp frames[/link]

RE: Why not buy knock-off upgrades? You decide
i had this happen to my copter-x tail one day. I did find the other grip right away and found the problem to be the bolt that holds the grip on. It was more money to buy the parts to fix it then it was to buy a whole new tail. Luckily, I still had a enough tail control to land.

RE: Is there a market for g10 frames for esky helis?
Another few things i forgot to mention, g10 does come in a variety of colors, and If you are on 72mhz, g10 doesnt conduct electricty as carbon fiber does so less glitching than cf. ALSO, If you are still using the stock radio, You can still use the stock radio with the dts version if you install reverse rotation (hitec) servos.

i also forgot to mention that if you install reverse direction servos (hitec) you can actually still use your stock transmitter. that will be good for the beginner that hasnt upgraded radios yet

RE: Is there a market for g10 frames for esky helis?
The prices will be about the same as a factory esky frame side. 12- 15 bucks a pop. And all 4 sides for a few bucks cheaper than individually. ill snap a good picture of my belt cp frame and post it up here as soon as possible. Although my hand cut version is still very straight, the frames would be cnc cut, so a little more precise than mine. Not that mine isnt precise because it fits like a glove and you couldnt tell it wasnt cnc cut u until you stare at it for 4 hours. Maybe ill run a special for the first 5 customers and give em a free set of fins to go with. I also want to get into custom cutting parts for people and getting into other helicopter frames as well.

Is there a market for g10 frames for esky helis?
just curious if there would be a market for cnc cut g10 side frames for esky carbon version belt cp/honey bee/e smart helicopters. Would you guys buy them? Mainly built out of g10 but custom materials are possible. Maybe Lexan with led in it for night flying. Stock Esky cut or Direct To Swash cut (belt cp only for now, until i get my hands on anything else. The DTS sides would be identical to each other so IF they broke you would only need an upper or lower, not an upper RIGHT or lower LEFT. This would give left OR right elevator servo mounting options as well. Custom designs can be used for the weight savings cuts (the slots at the rear and by the battery) To convert your plastic belt cp to dts g10 upgrade version, all you would need is the frames and either the plastic or aluminum bearing/crossmember set Will also be able to cut just about any flat part. Tail fins, battery trays, Trex frame sides.

ok, that makes sense... I have a dual rudder setup with a little more weight in the back and I havn't filled it with pool noodles in front yet so thats probably why it seems my engine is so far forward. What does a prop weigh?

RE: woody balance point help
the boat pretty much has to be generally fully assembled with the last thing remaining is setting where the engine will mount. you balance the boat by moving the engine from front to back to get it to balance on a piece of pipe or broomstick at the 30% from transom mark. Once you get it to balance... Thats where your engine will mount. People say to balance it with an empty tank so when the boats empty it doesnt run flighty, i would think half empty that way you wouldnt have an extreme difference either full or empty. Id say the best thing would be to try and place your tank or bags centered on the 33% mark so theres no change in balance at all.

woody balance point help
Im ready to mount my engine. I got my hardware mounted, everythings in the radio box, everything that is going into the boat besides the gas bag and line's is sitting in the boat. The only thing that isnt on the boat is the prop. Can someone tell me what the average prop weighs so i can account for that being on the boat? When you want to balance your boat at 33% would you take 33% of your hull length or 33% of your overall length including the drive/propnut? I made a mark and balanced my boat at 33% of just the hull length and it seems the engine must go way back. So overall length or just hull length?
