RE: NEW TRUCK
Great find, I just pick up a roller and build it up some new parts all for $266! I just put 3-tank through it today to start the break-in process, tomorrow I will start the bashing... RE: Rovan 5Sc
I just ordered one of the 30.5 SC trucks and I will do a review of it when I receive it. The Rovan and KM baja's are good for getting started, once your running you can replace whatever part fails as you do with any RC car. If you really want it and the price is in your budget then go for it; we all upgrade no matter the brand...

RE: King Motor T1000 Baja Truck
ORIGINAL: racoguy Ok so I got my Zenoah 4 bolt 29cc top end kit today, good time to start modifying. Contrary to what I was told the 2 existing KM cylinder bolts are NOT the same pattern as the 4 bolt Zenoah, they are about 1.5mm different so a little slotting is required on the 4 bolt Zenoah cylinder. Anyways this is what I did today, I used the new gasket that comes with the new top end kit to mark out the extra holes that need to be drilled and tapped, mounted the KM bottom end on its chassis plate and used this to keep it all nice and straight in the drill press vise. Center punched the new holes and drilled them slowly checking straightness as I went then threaded the holes with M5 thread. Cleaned everything with compressed air and fitted the new piston without the ring, apply a little oil and slip the cylinder on, with the cylinder in place the 2 holes that needed slotting were obvious and marked them with a scriber, removed the cylinder again and started gently elongating the hole in the correct direction with a file. Once the holes were all lining up I installed the cylinder again (still no ring on piston) and used all 4 bolts to check if it all bolted down ok, at this pint I checked the squish on the new piston in 3 postions around the cylinder which came out to 0.77-0.78mm with the gasket. Without the gasket it was 0.54mm Took it all back apart, cleaned everything again and assembled it with sealant on the gaskets and a drop of loctite on the cylinder bolts. The top cylinder cover bolt on the back of the head does NOT line up with the threaded hole in the cylinder so a new hole must be drilled in the KM cover. This along with the mods I posted on the last page should make quite a difference to the truck, should be able to get it fired up tomorow so we'll se how she goes.
Great work racoguy, Did you get the top cylinder bots to work? And did you have a chance to get some testing in?

RE: King Motor T1000 Baja Truck
So I took some time to run the T today as the weather in NY was in the low 40's. The vid is short as the camera died on me :( I have to remember to charge this thing before leaving the house; I get to excited and miss the small details. So far the new clutch holder is a great add-on, I have also changed the shocks and lowered my ride height as this test was on-road. I will be posting more pic's, vid's & info on my blog soon; it's been crazy with work and the kids this week...

RE: What are the Pros and Cons of using Shock Limiters?
ORIGINAL: avconslt Morespeed, I have no idea how I missed them! Until today I had never even heard of them! They make sense though! Here are some photos of my e-conversion KM T1000! Richard
avconslt, Nice looking truck! The truck looks pretty clean are you running it off-road; or just on-road? The shock limiting straps would be a good option if you are running off-road, as Moo pointed out in his reply. External limiters on the shock shafts will help stop the truck from bottoming out off jumps If you are running on-road then you need to add limiters internally under the piston to help lower your ride height. Also external on the shock shafts as mentioned above but in on-road will stop the chassis from dragging the track scrubbing speed under braking. In addition, you must be pulling our leg that you never heard of limiting straps...

RE: King Motors Baja Review with pictures
I don't think theres anything wrong with the manual if you have been in R/C for awhile; for the beginner's the exploded views give you enough detail to fix your model. As for maintenance most guys will hookup with other's running 1/5th scale for advice on what to do; then again they always have the forums; or do they? Please do your best to promote good advice and practices for new comers to this thread...
