There supposed to be an upgrade for the landing gear, it was announced a while ago. I've responded to that several times to the email they provided but to no avail...no one has responded back to me. Wondering now if it's not a hoax. [&o]

RE: RC Guys Super Decathlon coming
True, but for this particular plane you'll need the nose weight. Plus, the G38 will fly it in a scale-like manner.

RE: Y Harness Troubles
That's what I did. It seems to have made a difference....inside my shop anyway. I collapsed the tx antenna and walked around the room...it was dead quiet. Before there was all kinds of glitching and buzzing noise. I'll report the range check here ASAP after I finish. Thanks all for advice.

RE: Y Harness Troubles
ORIGINAL: Campgems What TX are you using? Alot of the computer radios will allow you to use two elevator servos and do the mix/adjustment in the TX. With this, you can mix in elevons if you like. Don
I'm using a Futaba 6EXAP on a 1/4 scale Piper Pawnee. I found the mistake. A servo lead wire (throttle) was dangerously close to the antenna wire inside the fuse. I added a 12'' extension to the servo and rerouted the lead wire away from the antenna. Glitching immediately stopped. I'll give a range check tomorrow and see if it's flight worthy now. I should have known better from the start,,,I've been putting these tings together since 1999.[&:]

Not pricey. Crashing a $3000 plane because of a faulty wiring harness is pricey. Thanks for the info. I'm ordering one Monday morning.

RE: Y Harness Troubles
Thanks. However, that's why there's a reverser built into the Y harness....so both elevator halves will move up and down in together. That's because of the servo placement inside the fuse, the arms move opposite each other, therefore a reverser is needed. I just didn't know they could go bad like that. But yea, I wish I could get rid of it...

Y Harness Troubles
I'm using two seperate servos for my elevator and it's one servo each half. I'm also using a Futaba Y Harness with a built in servo reverser. The problem is severe twitching of all servos on the plane when both elavator servos are connected to the y harness. If I detach one servo (left side) from the harness everything stabilizes. What is wrong here? With the radio antenna fully extended and placed on the table nearby, I can reach inside the fuse and move the elavator Y harness around with my hand and all servos just go crazy wild. I've never seen this happen before, but then I've never used a servo reversing Y harness before. Anyone have an answer for this?

RE: 87
Guys.... How in the world are you coming up with these heavy weights of 30 to 35 lbs. for this stearman?? Seems to me so excesive. My 89'' wingspan Flair Stearman weighs in at 26 lbs with a G62 and the plans actually call for the plane to top out at 22 - 24 lbs using a Saito 1.8 fs. What kind of wood are you using? Is there a heavy use of plywood throughout the airframe? I'm just amazed. http://www.rcuniverse.com/gallery/galleryItem.cfm?itemID=33339&dummy=3926.8019723451334&opener=/community/profile.cfm%3Fsection%3Dgallery%26memid%3D141342

RE: crop duster r/c
Give your son $50 and tell him to take no prisoners....kill that messy lifestyle you call a 'garage'! lol When he's done you should be able to sweep the floor. But......you may have to do a garage/yard sale first! Okay, enough of that.... here's the engine in question. Look at the specs....would you put that on your Ag cat? http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXBY70&P=0 It'd be a lot of trouble and maybe disasterous just to find out it won't work. Duane called me today to find out how I liked the kit. A follow up call! Can you believe it? This man is a true old school gentleman from the days when people really cared about their customers...it was about more than money. Anyway I gave him a good report and tried to talk him into joining us here on RCU. Says he keeps up with us but prefers to stay in the background. Modest fella, too!

RE: Gruman Ag-Cat
But....the big question is,,,,will it pull it or end up being more nose weight than power. Brian says it will. I wish an owner of this engine was reading this and gave me some advice as to the max weight of plane this engine will pull.

RE: Gruman Ag-Cat
Unless the plastic actually touches your muffler, and only your muffler, nothing will melt. That plastic can take a lot of heat but your engine will never generate enough heat to make that happen. My Stearman is about four years old now with many flights on it with that dummy radial.....no damage or sign of melting. If anything, I believe plastic like that gets brittle and is prone to break into pieces if exposed to high heat over an extended period. Again, don't worry about it. Just make sure you've left enough of the radial engine to stay together after you're done cutting it up.

RE: Gruman Ag-Cat
Brian I may still use the radial....I'll have to think about it and do some research. It would sure save me the time to build a dummy radial engine.[8|]
