RE: NEW DLE 20cc Gasser! (Data & Links 1st Post)
Estang I like the look of that Tiger 60 with the DLE 20 . Have you maidened it yet ? I see you moved the servos to the tail . How did it balance ? Does the glass pack fill up with oil and crud quickly ? I did a search on RC U but didn't come up with anything about your model . Thanks for the photos . I fly a Tiger II with an OS FSa 72 and my friend flies a Tiger 60 with an OS FS 91. They are amazing model aircraft , winter or summer . A gas version would be over the top .

What engine did you install ? How did the cg. work out ? How far is the engine away from the firewall ? Do you have any pictures of the engine installation ?

RE: LA Racer, World Models
I am just starting my assembly . I plan to flying mine in the winter on skis . The installed hinges are a big bonus and are not as brittle in below zero weather as ca hinges . I flew a Raider II last winter but stalled it landing and haven't repaired it yet . I bought the La Racer to get a wing with 2 servos and will put an OS FS 52 in it , just like the Raider . The Raider was a great flyer and uses the same wing except for the single aileron servo and linkage .

RE: Help! Something Similar to a Goldberg Tiger 60
The Tiger 60 ARF is a very special RC model . They were discontinued 3 years ago . Tower still lists them as temporarily out of stock . The kit is still available . I have not found any other model to replace it . I had a Tiger II ARF but a 72 kz radio glitch killed it recently . I have another Tiger II and will probably build it this winter . My old Tiger II had an OS FSa 72 in the nose and flew extremely well , a great aerobatic trainer . I built it as a tail dragger with DuBro main gear , all that was usable after the crash . The Texas RC Planes 50 ARF is a close copy of a Tiger II and comes with tail dragger and tricycle gear . The wing looks to be symmetrical , I just checked my kit . I bought it as a backup . Please ask Tower and Great Planes when the Tiger ARF's will be available again , I already have .

RE: LA Racer, World Models
I put 3" Great Planes wheels on my Raider and a friends La Flyer , and they worked well . I can't see why they won't fit an La Racer , I think the gear is similar .

RE: 30cc Slipstream Beaver
I just bought one last week . Didn't come with an instruction book . I found one online this week but it sure is poor . I can't even find a parts list . I haven't had time to get into it yet . Is the wing one piece or two ? I plan on using a DLE 30 for power but the balance will decide .

Why stop flying ? I live in the Great White North . I fly my arf's on skis all winter . I also fly electric arf's and bnf's in a basketball gym once a week during the dark times . Fly Fly Fly !

I too have a Texas RC Planes Drastik . I thought it would be a good replacement for the Hangar 9 Ultra Stick that I cannot purchase any more . I also have a DLE 20 ready to install . Please keep us informed about how Texas RC Planes resolves this problem . Sorry for your loss zoaartcc . It sure looks like a manufacturing defect .

Dan4466 I have just ordered a Seagull Spacewalker II 120 and would rather use the DLE 20 than the DLE 30 . Have you flown your Spacewalker with a DLE 20 yet ? Anyone else tried the DLE 20 in this ARF ?

RE: *New H9 Frenzy-100 ARF*
I am switching over to small gas also . I think the Twist 60 is on the small size for 20cc but a 15cc might work . I am building a 62 " Chipmunk with a Zenoah 20 and an 80 " World Models Super Sport Senior with a DLE 20 in it . The DLE 20 might work well in the Frenzy also . Might have to cut the beautiful cowl a lot though . I should try it first . I have a few electrics also , but I haven't gone over 40 size because of the cost and volatility of batteries . I also fly indoor electric micros and nitro planes on skis in the winter, I live in The Great White North , Canada .

RE: Where can I get a Goldberg Tiger 60 ARF?
DLU The Tower site still has the Tiger 60 ARF listed as " Temporarily Unavailable " . It has been this way for 2 years . In that time the name has changed to " Great Planes Goldberg Tiger 60 ARF " and the price has gone up . I am still watching , and want at least one more . I am now flying a Goldberg Tiger 120 ARF that I bought off eBay . I started with an OS FS 120 but it was not enough . I now fly it with a Saito 150 , a nice match . It flies very smooth and also flies slow well , no bad habits , no lead in the nose , 10 lbs. 7 oz.. I find it closer to a 60 size than the Goldberg Tiger 2 ARF I have with an OS FSa 72 in it . The only mistake I made assembling the 120 was I didn't make it a tail dragger . Yes I like the way Tigers fly .

RE: *New Hanger 9 Pulse XT 60*
I just had the landing gear block pop out taxiing off the field after a smooth landing , first flight in a month . No real damage , didn't even break the prop. The blind nuts pulled right through the first layer of plywood and then the ply delaminated and the remaining block popped off . I think I will add a little more plywood and tap it for 1/4 20 nylon bolts .The added ply would give me a little more prop clearance also . The grass field is a little rough this spring . I am using Dubro nylon gear in my Pulse and 3 1/2" wheels . The inspection after the " crash " shows a lack of epoxy around the mounting plate . Easy fix . Great flyer .

RE: *New Hanger 9 Pulse XT 60*
I had to put my Hydromax 1600 6v NiMh pack in the same place to balance properly. My Pulse has an OS FS 91 in the nose and a smaller 12 oz. tank . I also put 3 1/2" wheels and Dubro gear on using the stock mount holes to get better ground handling and reduced nose over . It is a dream to fly now .

RE: Hangar 9 Twist 3D Part II - Thread Continuation
Yesterday I went out to work on my Twist 60 , I had set up the ailerons in a slightly down position . This affected it's handling . Thanks again Dad Roman . I also noticed my aileron were vibrating with extreme movement and quick return to neutral . I switched out the offending servo but it didn't stop . I tried a 3rd new servo and the same thing . I tries adding weight to the aileron in different places , but they still vibrated . I have never had this problem before with Spektrum 821 digital servos with 6 volts power . I finally tried a Hitec 625 servo instead , and all the vibration disappeared . This is the largest control surface I have used the 821's on . They work fine on the rudder and elevator . I think I found their limit . I wonder if I should replace the tail servos also ? I guess that is what makes this hobby so much fun . You are always learning new things .

RE: Hangar 9 Twist 3D Part II - Thread Continuation
Thanks for the input Dad Roman . I maidened using a 14x6 MAK . I balanced a 15x6 APC to try next and will order a 14x4w APC with my next order . We don't have a LHS . The weather up here in the Great White North has gone from +15C to around freezing with snow and rain and high winds . Needless to say , I haven't had a chance to get out and fly the Twist 60 again . I balance my props with a Dubro balancer , both the blade tip and base . My other planes don't make any drumming sounds . What RPM do you get with the 14x4w ? I fly a Pulse XT 60 and my friend flies a Tiger 60 , both with OS FS91's . We find they perform best with 14x8 MAK props . I will check my RPM next time I go flying . It balances C.G. 5 1/2" from L.E. and is 6 lb. 7oz.. It flies well inverted but is hard to trim level . The trim changes with throttle use . I will also check my aileron setup to see if that is the cause . I added 2 washers behind the top right motor mount and one behind the top left and bottom right . This was supposed to give more down and right thrust . Maybe I should remove them and start from scratch , the way the kit was designed . I got this mod from another RCU post . Thanks for the help .

RE: Hangar 9 Twist 3D Part II - Thread Continuation
Just maidened my Twist 60 with an OS FS 91 4 stroke in it . Very noisy plane , like a mad bumblebee . Anyone else notice the noise this plane makes ? It also didn't fly particularly well slow . With a little pace it flew well , but not as good as my Tribute , at any speed . It did do great inverted spins and hovered fairly well .I have an OS 75AX that needs a home . Maybe the 2 stroke will not make the fuselage drum as much .

RE: Great Planes Z-526 ZLIN Akrobat Build Thread
-s- I haven't got an answer from anyone with a total weight or balance point yet . I have been flying electrics indoors lately , and haven't started the build yet . I like 4 strokes better when I have to mount the engine inverted . With an overall weight listed at 6 3/4 lbs. I think a 70 to 82 4 stroke would be needed to get the performance I am used to . I have a Goldberg Tiger II that weighed in at 6 1/4 to 6 1/2 lbs . I tried an OS 46AX and then an OS SFa 56 and finally an OS FSa 72 . It needed the 72 to get a good pull out of a hover . The Zlin looks a little cleaner but also heavier . I think an OS 55AX would be a good choice also , and might need less trimming of that nice fiberglass . A side mounted 55 would need a lot of trimming but might perform better . drube I would like to see pictures of the ST G51 side mounted . Anyone had any problems with the landing gear coming through the wings ? I fly from a rough grass field and prefer fuselage mounted gear for strength . My copy of the Zlin has good tight covering for Monocote . The control surfaces are the worst with the familiar wrinkles . I hope to get to the Zlin soon but I have a GP Giant Stik and a DLE 30 that has to be built for spring . It will be my first gasser .

RE: NEW DLE 20cc Gasser! (Data & Links 1st Post)
Thanks for the insight . I too am not a 3D pilot . I have flown for about 3 years now (got started at 55) and my latest plane was a H9 Tribute . It was my first 3D plane , but a joy to fly , lots of fun . I just completed a H9 twist 60 with an OS 91FSII to maiden when the snow melts . I fly a Tiger 2 with an OS 72FSa with skis in the winter . I am moving into gas this spring and have a DLE 20 to go in a Tiger 120 or to use in the Freestyle . I also am worried about the excessive noise . Could you use a snuffler with the stock muffler to quiet it down ? I don't see any tuned pipes or canisters available yet for this engine . I am also building a GP Giant Stick with a DLE 30 and a canister from Valley RC . I hope it is relatively quiet . Thanks for your help .

RE: NEW DLE 20cc Gasser! (Data & Links 1st Post)
BlackPowder I have just ordered an AeroWorks .60-.90 ProX260 QB Freestyle . I ordered it with a DLE 20 and I also have a new OS 75AX looking for a home . I see you have two Freestyles each with one of these engines . How different do they perform ? Which do you like to fly the most , and why ? Any balancing issues with either engine ? I know the DLE 20 would be more cost affective to fly but I have both engines and want the best for flight performance . I also have an old OS91FX I could use .

RE: Kadet Senior available at Nitroplanes
I already miss the aileron blocks and covers . The V2 is definitely heavier . V1 Fus. 22.50 Wing 14.80 H. Stab 5.35 V. Stab 2.35 V2 Fus. 28.75 Wing 16.35 H. Stab 6.60 V. Stab 3.05 All weights are on a postal scale in ounces . Fuselage includes windows and ailerons for both . The original SIG Kadet Senior is almost 10 ounces lighter just in these 4 pieces . The original flies well with a wide variety of engines and weights . I hope the V2 flies as well .

RE: Kadet Senior available at Nitroplanes
I just picked up my 90A270R-V2 today . The plywood fuselage looks heavier than the original stick . I have noticed that the servo hatch covers are missing from my kit . The wings are slightly different also . They have 3 lightening holes drilled in each rib and the aileron is in a slightly different spot . The wing joiner doesn't seem to have the same dihedral as the original . i will check this tomorrow . My fuselage does not have the side windows cut out of the Aerocote . The tail surfaces look almost the same as the SIG . I happen to have a SIG Senior ARF in a box . Tomorrow I will try to weigh the two fuselages and wings and do a comparison . I will also do a complete parts check to see if any more parts are missing .

RE: Great Planes Z-526 ZLIN Akrobat Build Thread
I am a little farther into the great white north . I have been flying off the snow with skis but the recent warm spell is melting the field . I have time to start my GP Zlin build and am trying to decide what power plant to put in it . It seems to be quite heavy for an OS 46 AX as used in the magazine reviews . I have an OS FS 70 II or a OS FSa 81 looking for places to live . Does anyone have any info on the total flying weight of their Zlin , with what engine ? How did it balance out with that engine ? The 46AX is about 17.5 ozs. but the engines I am looking at are over 20 ozs.. I don't want to have to put lead in the tail and make the Zlin even heavier .

RE: Where can I get a Goldberg Tiger 60 ARF?
I agree that the type of radio you get should be able to buddy-box with your instructor's . The buddy-box was the most important thing in my flight training . We have both Futaba and Spektrum 2.4 systems at our field . Both work well . I have a Futaba 6EXP and a Spektrum DX-7 . Both have worked well with no problems . I also agree that you should buy a 2.4 GHz system , they are quickly replacing all other radio systems . I fly at a field with many other flyers and the 2.4 advantage of no radio interference with others and the model ID is important to me . I use my FM Futaba for outside winter flying , floats ,and for trainers . My Spektrum is used for BNF indoor winter flying and more complex aircraft . I find my Futaba more easy to program , but it is limited . Good luck with your choice . It is kind of like Ford , GM or Dodge .
