RE: Best Kits
Sig Astro Hog low wing version is a kit of old style design. High parts count also some parts on sheets you cut out and finish sand. A great experience in honeing kit building skills. Also when built a really great flyer.

RE: Fox 3.2 Help
I would suggest you ck inside the fuel tank the feed tube and clunk. Too stiff tygon can cause clunk to bind and not float free in tank. Also fuel line to carb. if routed in a tight bend may restrict fuel flow. I had the problem of no idle and hard starting it turned out to be the tygon fuel line I was useing had too thin a outer wall and had collapsed at a tight bend in line to carb. I have found that tygon is made with the same id but you will find the outer wall to be thinner and less collapse resistance on some tubeing.

RE: Lost a plane today
Has anyone read where any radio supplier states in their liteture not to use 4.8 volt battery packs with 2.4 radio systems. I have gone to 6.0 volt NiMH packs due to what I have read on this forum. I have not found any informatio on batter use with my DX7 or DX8 literature re 6.0 volt battery use. I think a clear statemen from radio suppliers not to use 4.8 volt rx batterys would go a long way in confidence building for their product..

RE: Best Kit for First Build
Ck out the Hobby Lobby web site they have a excellent video on their new lazer cut Telemaster kit. Also I am told they are releasing a lazer cut 96in wing span kit soon. Telemasters have a airfoil lifting tail and make a great camera platform. Good luck and happy building on what ever you select to build.

RE: RCD 26 CC Gas Engine from Hobby King
My understanding of a opti kill switch is if you have a radio signal fail due to tx or rx failure or battery problem it will disconnect the ingnition circuit to the ingnition module. Also it provides a second on off device besides the mechanical switch to the ingnition module. I feel it is a safety device I would not delete from my gas engine set up.

RE: RCD 26 CC Gas Engine from Hobby King
If it has not been mentioned in prior posts I would suggest a opti kill switch also. Valley View I beleive sells a switch by RCEXL ck out their web site for info.It is a good safety device to have on any gas engine. If it is of any help to you a 4.8volt 1500ma ingnition battery gives me over one hour flying time.I would not use a one battery system in my models. Also 4.8 volt battery is plenty for ingnition.

Does anyone have any comment on Power HD servos sold by Value Hobby. They offer a metal gear servo in the 215 oz. range for around $15.00. I beleive Troy Built Models sells the same brand servo.

RE: DLE 55 Connecting Rod Bearing Failure
Jedijody the oils you mention as perfered oils to use are they all synsytic oils. What is your thought on useing a non synsytic oil like Pennsoil air-cooled oil. I have a RCGF 26cc and a DLE 55cc I have a gallon of 32/1 mix run thru the RCGF engine the DLE has not been run yet..My plan was to use 89 octane pump gas and the Pennsoil at 32/1 in both engines.

RE: Magnum 52XL 4-stroke valve leaks.
The Magnum 70 had a weak valve spring problem you may have the same condition with this engine. You may want to back off the rocker arms and press down on the valve assy. to see what the spring tension is .I have two 70 Magnum engines one had bad springs the head was replaced as a warranty claim. Both of my engines have very little compression when you turn them over by hand but they both run well and produce plenty of power.

RE: Senior Telemaster Kit
I tried to send a photo of my scratch built Senior Telemaster with a Telemaster UK plan built barn door wing but was not able to transmit picture. The model flew last week for the first time on a 70 four stroke Magnum. The total weight of the model is 11 1/2 lbs. half throttle gives a nice relaxing flight speed. The UK Telemaster wing plan builds up into a much stronger wing than the wing design offered in the kit . I also have a kit built Hobby Lobby Telemaster the barn door wing wing turns the model easier than the stock built wing{less rudder input required for smooth turns]

RE: NEW DX7s at Horizon....
I read the reply to why no servos are supplied with the new DX7s but why can't Spectrum package as tx only,tx and rx only ,and as a complete package tx rx and sevos and battery and switch. I am sure many entry level modelers and some old timers also would like the idea of one stop purchase to install electronics in their model.

RE: NEW DX7s at Horizon....
I am glad to see Horizon release a replacement for the DX7. I have a DX7 and it is trouble free. My thought on the new DX7s is why did Horizon not package it with a seven channel receiver and maybe even some servos. If they offered it as a complete package tx, receiver, servos, and on off switch it would make a great sport radio package.

RE: Glassing a wing joint, what is stronger?
How about some discussion on useing water base products like Minwax polyester in place of expoxie.I have used it to bond down glass cloth on wing center sections. It is a lot easier to use and clean up is water wash tools paint brush, squgee etc.

RE: Magnum 70 4 stroke muffler
The crimp is like a rolled lip locking the end piece to the muffler shell.I would call Hobby People to ck. on warranty if part is not damaged and within time frame for warranty coverage. Also a neat bead of PC7 or simular product would lock the end piece in place you must clean old fuel residue before applying PC7.

Use a wood dowl a little undersize to the hole in wing ribs. Roll paper around dowl nice and tight to dowl slide dowl into wing rib holes. Now slide out dowl paper will stay in ribs spot glue paper tube to several ribs to anchor it to ribs.

My Telemaster I wrote about struts in 2009 is still flying in its second year now with no problems with struts. If of any interest to other forum members I recently purchased a telemaster wing plan from a hobby seller in the UK called "Telemaster Sales UK".The plan calls for barn door ailerons and uses two set of spars on each wing panel also it provides two 1/8 ply hard points per wing panel for strut mounting.I plan to build this wing per plan over winter. The plan does not provide any instruction on making the struts.Their web site has pic. of wing under construction also Hobby Lobby has a forum on Telemasters with some info. on this wing.
