RE: Ez start problem again, please help
probably your one way bearing, had mine go out from breaking in my OS .18 with all that compression... take your owb out and put it on the shaft, can you get it to spin both ways, one way or neither?

RE: durability of the Revo
I too had one of those POS's (read the official truck thread, pg 8-9, etc.) I couldn't run mine or my buddies for more than 5 minutes without something breaking. After three 5 minute runs I coulda bought a Revo for the parts and shipping I needed Since, we've both gotten Revo's and bash the crap outta them; sure things will break, but most of the time you don't notice it broke until you're cleaning it. And we can get spares for them all over town... good luck.

RE: POP UP 12 METER
Henry, you might also want to check out Greyhound for shipping, it can be a LOT cheaper and delivery times are within same day to 3 days depending on the distance. Just box it and throw it on the bus (gently though)... Have you got any pics? thanks, oz

RE: Late night Ebay impulse buys...
Selemat, 66' 1974 PJ Ketch... they seemed to varnish EVERYTHING back then. It's been a very long process, but we're almost finished. We (me and another guy, hence the length of yard time) have done many upgrades and replaced nearly every system on her, varnished everything, new interior upholstery... As we move more and more stuff back on to her, she's really starting to shine. If you want it done right, you've got to do it yourself.

RE: Late night Ebay impulse buys...
Thanks for all the replies, guess I've found the thread for these boats over in the nitro section. Nope I'm from FL, working on a sailboat here in portsmouth, just getting a pimp my ride sorta thing done to her. there's a nice pond close by here I've heard other guys in the yard talking about going to... I don't think this marina would take too kindly to the new addition at the dock. Of course if we were a little farther north we could've been running them in the streets after all the rain...

RE: Hidden costs with your Redcat
Stormy , another thing about these cars is they are Himotos. You would think if all of these problems were in place then that they would have been addressed before putting this thing on the market.
Exactly, never understood these trips to china to look at parts that never appear. then meanwhile, back home on the battlefront, his company is still recieving the same complaints he was getting 3-4 months ago... tech support, customer service, parts... but then (no offense stormy, it's been said by a couple before you) there are people who say "they've only been in business for 6 months..." you'd think by now they'd have addressed these issues and attempted to profit even more by satisfying his customers with the support, service and products.

RE: Hidden costs with your Redcat
yeah, but upgrading to AL? if you're a racer that's great but AL never works for bashing. entity had the right idea of trying to get rpm parts instead. honestly i couldnt drive mine more than 10 minutes before i had to go home... and this was during break-in!! and then i got my revo. when i first got that revo i was paranoid about driving it, worried that a bump would break something, that my body would disintegrate. the terrain i drive my revo on now would scare the **** outta redcat.

RE: Hidden costs with your Redcat
it's good to finally see actual users commenting on these things and not all the dealers who were giving me grief after i complained about broken parts after broken parts when i was running the stx in a baseball field... (back in the early pages of that thread.) i've got a revo now and it's nice to be able to buy parts because you want to and not because you have to...

RE: Need Help Fast
the same exact thing happens to me, i could barely get it started for my 5th tank during break-in. i had to loosen the glow plug 'til it nearly fell out to get it started... plus the ez-start motor would get up to about 130F.

RE: How to remove the Flywheel nut please help
grab the flywheel with a big pair of pliers and use a wrench to get the nut off... of course it's metric... then use a small screwdriver to pry the flywheel off the shaft, don't be shy, it'll come off.

5th tank headaches
seems like i cant remember the last time i was wot with my revo... had some 2.5r problems and got a new piston/sleeve did break-in till my 3rd tank and then i decided to go with a os .18tm about a week ago and trying to get 'er broke in. got to the end of my fourth tank on wed and the rx pack died, (i know hump pack). so yesterday i'm mentally prepping for my 5th tank and planning on kicking some serious butt against my buddies revo when we went out last night. i pull the body off and realize that i left my air filter back home... after 45 minutes i'm back. then it took me about 30 minutes to realize that, due to compression, i had to have my glow plug nearly all the way off for my ez-start to turn her over... (first time for that) meanwhile my buddy is driving like a madman all around me just rubbing it in and i'm about to kill him cuz i've stopped smoking cigs about a week ago. FINALLY i get her started and ease her around, slowly opening the throttle. i slowly run her up a dirt jump, get a little air and notice that she's sitting real low in the back. now it's my rear shock mount... lost the two bottom screws and sheered one of the long top shock screws that go into the rear bulkhead and the other one feels stripped... and now it's easter sunday morning, a BEAUTIFUL day and there's not a lhs open anywhere. so what 5th tank nightmares have y'all had?

RE: 2.5R major tuning issues
make sure that the piston is properly installed... re-installed mine 180 out and the only way to get it running was leaning the hsn way out and richening the lsn way up. confused the heck outta the lhs guy...

RE: engine wont start
i've, uh, "heard" that if the piston got installed the wrong way it could cause problems starting... this could then, possibly, lead your lhs owner to scratch his head 'til it bleeds while attempting to tune...

RE: Revo 2.5 flywheel
yeah, i've gotten to that pry part. guess i need a bigger screwdriver. ok that's done now. so now the problem is getting the piston off of the output shaft, any suggestions? sorry for the noob questions, but this is my first time, so i'm trying not to break anything. although then i'd have the perfect excuse for the os18.

Revo 2.5 flywheel
well... i was only planning on cleaning my revo after a couple of tanks today... but now i'm wondering if anyone has any tips on how to get the flywheel off. and how to get the sleeve out... it doesn't feel like i've got much compression and thought i'd take a look at what's inside the engine. i don't see any "deep" scoring on the sleeve. most of the wear appears to be on the lower 2/3 of the sleeve with a couple of pairs of score marks that run a little higher up the sleeve. is this normal? this has been a great engine during the 1.5 gallons that i've put through it, never really had to tune it and been running it in winter conditions. thanks in advance.
