RE: A Lesson/Question on Torque - I Think
When the tail is lower than the nose on any airplane it creates more effective pitch (and more thrust) on the decending right side blade until the propeller is square with the relative wind (the tail lifts). Hope that helps Roy

RE: Evolution 7 cylinder 260cc radial engine - Operation and maintenance
I was having problems with cold starts on my 260, it wouldn't fire using the choke and I had to prime it with a little gas in the carb to get it to fire so I called Steve (DerJager) to see if he had any issues. His engine is a preproduction model with a different choke setup but he confirmed what I was thinking was the problem . The choke is a simple flapper that covers the carb inlet . My flapper was both twisted to the side and not laying flat on carb face so it wouldn't seal, I took it off and tweaked the arm slightly ,centered it and bingo starts right up. Any other guys with this choke setup might want to take a closer look at it. Roy

RE: Evolution 7 cylinder 260cc radial engine - Operation and maintenance
The collector ring is smaller than the cylinders , I am putting mine in a 122 1/2 inch P47. The only clearance problem so far is the adjuster screws for the rocker arms , I reshaped the cowl a bit and it should clear now.

RE: Power Plus Pro (PPP) 244 oz. servo in a warbird
Jeff , I have used those in one of my big Sukhoi's on the rudder. I had a problem with one locking at full travel in a hover after some hard 3d use. I don't think in a warbird there would be an issue. I have some more new ones if you want to try one and see what you think. Roy

RE: 1/3 Scale Mustang
As far as I know the P-51 is hanging in a museum minus the engine and custom sierra retracts. Jeff Q has the engine and I have the retracts. I will be starting a build thread shortly on a 1/3 scale P-51C that will be using both the engine and gear. I never met Mr Campbell but a lot of the guys here in Mn knew him and from what I've been told he built most of his big birds out of foam so there wouldn't be any molds. Roy

RE: The Wingsmaker GS Spirfire
That appears to be the same Spitfire as the World Models Spit with different livery and $100 cheaper. I have the World Models Spit with a 3250 Super Tiger in it and flies very well but the retracts suck. For the money you can hardley go wrong IMO Roy
