RE: Official HPI Savage Flux XS thread...
ORIGINAL: cumminspower5.9 How come i hear of people having so much bad luck with the flux xs, and others are doing just fine with theirs? im about to purchase this and i dont want to have a pos. ill prob be ordering mine within 2 weeks or so.
You've been following the thread for a while....It really seems to come down to complete luck in some cases and/or preventive actions in other cases... Drive cups, Antenna Wires, Steering Servos, ESCs, Motor's, DogBones, Loose Pinions, etc... If you are not willing to take the chance....or are ready to replace some of the known deficient parts....Then the XS is not the right choice for you. It comes down to a choice that you have to make... I chose to replace the steering servo, motor, gear down, and go through the entire truck before it ever had power to it...I have had my truck since September '11 on 2S and 3S...with no significant issues. No, I don't beat the crap out of my toys but, I do run them hard enough.

RE: Official HPI Savage Flux XS thread...
Haha....+1 Rob... I keep going back to HPI here...They have CVDs available...at $42 a pair...:D They still don't have most of the kit parts available to buy....and most all of the option parts they show on the box are not available...what the Heck ! It's too bad....It's a great size...pretty durable save a few integral pieces....They really dropped the ball here IMO. In the end XS users are here buying up HR and Integy parts....hoping they'll hold up...:( With all this said....I am still sticking with the XS....HPI will catch up eventually....I hope....:)

RE: Official HPI Savage Flux XS thread...
As Rob said...I posted pics and details of the 90 bullets I used...Purchased from TQ Racing. They are quite nice and work well. I'm with you Rob....Can't believe that HPI still doesn't have support parts available...Maybe they just released to many new trucks in '11... What a bummer about the HR cups...I think that's first issue I have heard of....most folks seem happy with them.
ORIGINAL: Foxy I don't have time or the ability to see pics or vids from the office, I'll check them later, so let me just ask... Is this basically an answer to the DM-one and Inferno GT type cars?
You got it Foxy... Looks to have Pede/Slash 4x4 syle drivetrain....17mm hubs...CVs look pretty beefy but, it's hard to say...laydown steering servo...metal shock towers....mamba monster with the CC cap bank...maybe a Castle/Neu 15 series (1650Kv)...body looks sick. Folks are beating it up already...but looks to be an OK platform.... For the Money ($1099 on Tower)....i'd have me a used DM-1 or Inferno GT though...

RE: Official HPI Savage Flux XS thread...
ORIGINAL: nitro-rob The HPI service representative told my friend today when he called about the blown ESC that there is a reworked second version that they have not had any problems with. Is anyone out there driving one of the first shipped ESCs on 3s without a problem? I have used my first run Vapor Pro ESC for five minutes on 2s and wonder if I should go for it and see if it has the strength to handle it on 3s while its still under warranty.
I would...and plan too. Granted I switched to the HR 60T spur and added the 1410....to help things out. I plan to tax the Vapor Pro... Might as well while it's under warranty...
ORIGINAL: Eman77 Any real reason to swap out electronics/radio/servo right away? I say roll with what it comes with, and upgrade as things annoy you. [:D]
Servo, Yes...The stocker is WAY underpowered...resulting in poor handling at any speed. ESC/Motor - It has been proven...with data that this combo results in amperage draws of 150A+ at start up. It seems that swapping the motor helps greatly. Radio - Just fine...as long as you clean up the location of the Rx antenna...
ORIGINAL: rokie1432 hey guys, from the hot-racing website, what are the pinions that are suitable for the XS?...especially if i want to gear down?.... Would i also need the 32T - 60T Idler gear?... Is the light weight power tune pinion gear set <span style=''font-family: Verdana, Geneva, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 11px; ''>(24T, 26T, 28T, 30T) suitable for gearing down? Otherwise, somebody posted a pic of that page in this thread....scroll through the pages...you'll find it.

I was busy last night putting a HiTec 645MG servo and AL servo horn in my XS.... What's the deal with the TRX rod end failures?? Were you using the TRX 2443 camber link sets?? My SL4SH and Pede are definately heavier and run bigger tires...no issues with the TRX rod ends... I have some extra delrin rod...I was thinking about making camber links from that....but I'd be using TRX rod ends...[X(] Your thoughts??
