Hello Matt Thanks for yours answers We uses an APC 18x10 for breaking. But we will try APC 19x11 or 20x10,5. Friends of mine Stéphane uses on his Temptation (personal design) equiped with RCGF 32 cc : APC 20x10,5 (7200 t/mn), APC 20,5x10 (7000 t/mn) with tuned pipe; Eric on his Initial (personal design) equiped with RCGF 32 cc : APC 18x12 (7800 t/mn), 20x10,5 (6900 t/mn) with Hatori header and muffler.

Hello Matt You have a lot of experiences in gas engine. Have you any advices for a quieter and cheap canister or exhaust pipe for Rear exhauts engines as PTE36R or DLE35R ? Claude

Hello RM We uses muffler sold with the engine. But it is too noisy. We are looking for a cheap canister or exhaust tuned pipe.

Hello Nial wrote : "I personally think the thing about Electric v Engine for me is that I am never worried about my electric starting or more importantly stopping. If you set it up correctly and manage your battery correctly and monitor how they are behaving then you rarely have an issue. I just never had that feeling when I flew IC" There are problems with YS sure. It's necessary to like and have skill in mécanics. But it's not true to tell with Electric there is no problem. I have a lot of examples whose friends burn their controlers, batteries. I personnaly saw electric patterns burn in flight. Planes were totaly destroyed. In French championship (International category FAI) yesterday on friday, Axiome's controler burst after the first figure so the gear broke at the landing and the flight was lost. Third flight motor support broke destroying the front of the plane. So Third flight was lost and he will not participate to the Fly off.

Hello Danamania wrote :"Oh, and I usually get at least 2-4 flights in while the glow guys are getting set-up and started ..." My own experience on field : CDI engine start easily. With my 5 liter fuel I can stay the day on the field and can do 8 flights of 18 mn to 20 mn. Friends of mine when finished their 3 or 4, "7 mn electric flights", they cannot fly because no charged batteries. So they ask me to lend my plane to fly with. Claude

RE: ys175
Hello The advantage of cdi is the possibility of using fuel with little oil, the plane remains very clean. I use 9% oil (25% nitro). The 175 uses a little more fuel. With 680 cc, 170 cdi flight last about 20 minutes, 175 cdi 15 minutes. When I go to field with friends spend the day, I take my 5 liter and can do many flights. Engine cooling is very important. I made a change on my underbelly as shown on pics (before and after) and gain is about 20 degrees

RE: Gas engines on Pattern: DLE?
Hello Brian , Matt It is not my plane. It is the plane of a friend, his first pattern. I'm finishing the plane for him. I'm going to install silent blocs to prevent fuse of vibrations. He is student, he wants to start in F3a pattern the cheaper. So it is not possible for him to buy motor, batteries, Yamada of course ! He prefers to do noise and fly pattern instead of not flying ! It is not the subject of this thread, but that is the problem. F3A became very expensive not only for student. Now I don't see a lot of new pattern modelists. In contests and french championship, number of competitors decrease in France. May be money is not the only reason. Now we are lucky not to have problem with noise. Our fields are near real aerodromes and far away cities. Great models make more noise as us. Pictures of "La Fare" field and "Eyguieres" field. RE: Gas engines on Pattern: DLE?
Hello Joe I'm going to install this engine on a personnal design plane named Passion made by friend of mine. The manufacture of this engine is very beautiful, molding is equivalent to the one we used as glow engines or cdi. What is surprising is the weight. The assembly as in the photos weighs 1250 g /2.756 lb (175 cdi fitted equally weighs about 1230 g /2.712 lb, which must be added the weight of the flexible support approximately 120 g/ 4.233 oz to 150 g/ 5.29 oz). Cost is less 300 E.

Hello Matt I aggree with Adrian. Last wednesday I tried APC propeller APC 20.5 x 10 on my Harmonie Evo and 175 CDI. It's better. The runs are slower. On my plane there is less torque effect. Claude
