RE: CP Pro 2 Did I make a Mistake?
Don't sweat it. I learned CP on a CPP2 after a few months with the MSR. I just used whatever settings I found on here for my dx6i. My word of advice is not to fly it when it's windy out. Windy at all if your reaction time is anything like mine was when I started. The whole motor on a stick thing makes it very vulnerable to even small wind gusts. I ended up practicing my hovering in a warehouse before I took it outside. Ended up crashing it a few times and stepped up to a B400. I've never crashed the 400 even though I learned loops, etc on it. The CPP2 made the 400 seem very easy to fly. Just consider it your trial by fire. You can also ebay the CPP2 radio and get some money back.

RE: mSR beyond control
Mine would have that type of issue when the guide on the back of the swashplate would fall out of it's groove after an incident. I have no idea on the rudder stick affecting cyclical motions though.

RE: flybarless msr
I'm honestly not sure the physics behind it. When you let off of the collective stick on a fixed pitch, it will rock back to "center". A CP heli will stay at the angle it's at when you move the collective stick back to center.

RE: blade sr?
Another vote for starting with a cx or msr. I started with the msr and spent 30 minutes just getting it off the ground and through my thick paranoia. The micros will take learning knocks. The SR won't.

RE: Blade MSR motor stuttering
I've always moved from battery to battery with no problem. This includes flying on aftermarket batteries that would allow for well over 10 minute flights. I'd first guess loose connection. Maybe a signal issue? Perhaps an issue with the 5in1?

RE: Blade MSR defect?
Each to their own. Mine has been an invaluable trainer thanks to it's robustness even when bouncing off walls constantly. It's saved me a lot of money and time in training for stepping up to CP helis. The tail motor is the only annoying flaw, but I don't expect something that small to handle like a scalpel. However, if you want more precision, hopefully EFlites new flybarless CP micro will fit the bill. Or you could try the Walker micro, but I read quite a few complaints on those as well.

RE: flybarless msr
The flybar isn't what causes the "self correction". Being fixed pitch does. The CP they are releasing won't do that to you.

It is manufactured offset like that. The question comes up quite often on here.

RE: thinking of electric helis?
I started off with the MSr. I'd suggest starting with the 120 honestly. It's a little bigger so you can take it outside more than you can the MSr. I'd also suggest moving up to a 450 size afterward. I have a CP Pro2 that was my first collective pitch. It was OK to learn on but they are so light that the wind can really mess with a beginner even when it isn't that bad out. I crashed the chopper quite a few times. My B400 has been far easier to fly in all aspects than the CPP2 was and I've never had anything happen to it other than a couple of slightly rough landings.

RE: SR 120 Tail Motor
Seems to be a typical occurrence on all direct tail drive models from E-flite. Both my CP Pro2 and MSr have had issues, more so the MSr. I thought about trying the Walker micros, but seems most of the feedback is they are always breaking period. Have to choose your weevils.

New issue. The tail servo rod keeps binding. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to mount it and/or make sure the tail returns to "neutral"?

RE: EXI 450 Build - setup issues
Right and right, ptb. My T and R were bound, but I forgot I had hit reset on the profile since it was originally set up for a CP Pro2. I didn't even realize motors can beep. Learn something new every day.

EXI 450 Build - setup issues
I have an EXI 450 a friend of mine gave me. He put everything together except the receiver, sat around for a while, and then handed off to me to get running. However, I'm having a few issues. Here are the hardware stats. Gyro: DCTRUM GY48V Servos: DCTRUM something ESC: Exceed-RC Proton 30A Receiver: AR6100 I hooked up the programming board to the ESC and everything was selected properly on "soft cut", etc. Then I hooked everything up to the receiver. Once powered on, all the servos spaz and try to over extend themselves. I disconnected all the servos and hooked the esc back up to the battery but still have never heard any beeps from it to let me know it's recognised the battery cell count or initialised like it says on the instruction sheet. I don't know if this is because the motor wires aren't hooked up or what.

RE: Inherited toy
Yeah, I learned the hard way with the electric. I flew my CPP2 into my dresser @ WOT. I didn't realize I was going to need all this. It'll be a bit before I start sinking that kind of cash into the freebee.

RE: Inherited toy
I pulled the feathering shaft. I have no idea what the flapping head design is and what all it was used on but this Nexus has a feather rod that is shared by the two main blades. One side is bent pretty heavily. I'm guessing that something dropped on it while in my buddy's attic. My least concern is the tail fin. I need the feathering shaft and I need to figure out what battery I need to use on it. How do you start these things?

RE: CP Pro2 rant
The flying is a bitch, yes. The rebuilding and the failures is the pain. I've decided I'm done spending money on it. I'm going to use the receiver to try and get the old school Kyosho up and running.

CP Pro2 rant
I just need to take a moment to vent. I've had my B400 for a few months now. I've excelled immensely with it. First flips. First time I've felt really in control, even taking off and landing in 15+mph gusts. And most importantly, I've never wrecked it. I've flown leaps and bounds over my previous experiences and haven't had many OH SHIT moments. The only small issue is when I clipped a holly tree and broke the plastic wrapping on the stock blades. Just installed some web special carbon fiber blades that were quite a bit thinner at the base, yet I didn't even have to touch the blade tracking. I was blown away. My CPP2 has been, without a doubt, the biggest pain in my ass. It's twitchy as hell in anything other than a dead calm. It's a PITA to work on. I just finally have it put back together and the tail rotor is going apeshit. It just ramps up starts spinning the chopper like crazy. I kept trying for a bit and I finally was able to get it to respond to the radio input rather than on or off, but as soon as the power ramped up around takeoff speed, the tail rotor would spin up to full speed again. the 2in1 is virtually brand new, so I'm guessing it's a tail motor issue. All I know is I'm pretty much done with it. I've dumped so much time and money trying to keep this thing in some sort of worthy flyable state and all it's done is piss me off. I think I might be throwing in the towel this time.

RE: Inherited toy
Right now I just need a feathering shaft, tail fin, and then figure out how to hook up a Spektrum RX to it. How do you charge the batteries on it? Or do I need to replace those as well? I also need a little tutoring on starting this thing. I'm guessing I can just use nitro fuel from the LHS.

RE: My first RC heli
The mSR is a good learning tool. However, I'd suggest staying indoors unless it is pretty much a dead calm day. Also if you haven't already, click in the right stick on the controller. It will help keep you out of trouble at first by abbreviating how much input the collective stick will use. Learn how to trim the heli as well. It will make it far, far easier to fly. As for sims, I bought Phoenix RC. My friend had it so I had some experience on it and it was cheaper. The CP Pro should be ok to learn collective pitch on, but don't fly in much wind. I started with my CPP2 and it was really twitchy in any slight breeze. The 400 is a lot more stable. I don't have an SR but I imagine it is probably more stable than any of the CP's due to not being a motor on a stick.

I never could get it to be as responsive and quick as it was with the stock radio, so I abandoned the DX6i with the mSR. Here's the thread I had going on it though. http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_9600079/anchors_9603794/mpage_1/key_/anchor/tm.htm#9603794

RE: Blade 400
I bound it to the cpp2 controller when I first bought the cpp2, so it probably was 100% throttle. Had my laptop in my lap, so I couldn't really jump after it either.

RE: Blade 400
Nope. I'm well aware of the 3d mode switch. I sent my mSR launching when I accidentally booted it up with the awitch on. Lesson learned cheaply, luckily. The difference only happens when the ESC is booted with the TH switch engaged or not engaged. Had I not accidentally forgotten to turn it on like normal, I never would have even questioned this.

RE: Blade 400
Throttle curve is set to 0 at low. And it only spins when the esc is booted up with TH on. That's what I'm baffled about. What would the TH switch have to do with it acting at 0 or not?

RE: Blade SR no tail motor response even with new motor
My 2in1 on my CPP2 did that as well, except it intermittently failed. Every 10th power up I had tail control for about 10 secs. I just hotwired the battery to the tail motor leads to make sure the motor wasn't completely shot.

RE: Blade 400
Figured I'd post in here rather than make a new thread. First, I'd like to say that after flying my CPP2 for a couple months and now flying the 400 for not even a month, the 400 is soooooooooo much easier to fly. No more bouncing nose. No more blowing all over the place in a slight wind gust. I can land this thing on a 2' stepping stone. I wish I'd bought the 400 a while back. Anywho, my question. I've always plugged up the heli with the transmitter on throttle hold. As soon as I'd take off throttle hold, the motor would spool up a little at 0 stick. Never thought anything of it as it was never a violent start up or caused any other issues. Yesterday I plugged it up and forgot to put the controller on throttle hold. I didn't realize it until I had the radio in hand to start flying. I could spool it up, take off, land, and go to 0 stick to completely kill the motor. So my question is why does the heli have a low rpm if plugged up on throttle hold (and then TH turned off) and no rpm if plugged up without throttle hold engaged?

RE: First on board video Blade 400
Alright, Solman. I need your help here. I used velcro to fasten it to the bottom this time. I did get my first video including 3 loops. But it's so shaky it almost puts you in convulsions. Then to top it off, I get back to my car to find some underage kid from Zimbabwe sitting in the driver's seat drawing on the steering wheel. I swear, you couldn't write this shit. I should have pulled out my knife and stabbed his soccer ball, but I was still in disbelief. Here's my setup and video.
