RE: The Warthog
Yep, that's the part. the axle broke right where the pin goes thru it. I'll try the rcdamper route, thanks.

RE: The Warthog
Xgamer, will you sell me a wheel hub? It's the one piece I broke and need replaced and the one piece that asiatee just mailed me to tell me they have none in stock.

RE: The Warthog
Yeah, I have no plans to mess with the internals until something fails. As for the front shock tower, I much prefer the shorter angled shocks on the front like the stock MXX and that picture confirms my suspicions that they were the same, just missing the upper holes for the body mounts. Thankfully I have a spare Warthog shell and can rethink how I connect it. About the tie rods, I thought it came with 2 of one size and the 3rd is shorter. I only wanted them for the steering rods. Am I mistaken? [image]http://www.asiatees.com/pic_loader.php?size=2&large=1&w=550&h=410&id=5393&html=1[/image]

RE: The Warthog
That's the whole reason I'm rebuilding, I broke the rear cup that holds the wheel on. Maybe I'll just get the alloy replacement because functionally, I'm perfectly happy with it's stock performance. The aftermarket tires made all the difference in the world. I've learned from my tanks that complicating it is not always better.

Do I use the DF-02 64mm shafts or the DF-03 68mm ones? I did measure and they do appear to be 68mm long, but not sure if I'm measuring correctly. [image]http://www.asiatees.com/pic_loader.php?size=2&large=1&w=550&h=425&id=5390&html=1[/image]

Thanks Syco. It snapped in half where the pin goes thru the axle that spins the tire. I'll look into upgrading all of the joints in the near future.

RE: The Warthog
Finally broke the Hog, but it was due to my 5yr old daughter's bicycle running into it, not part failure. I think that's the longest I've had a RC vehicle (especially one this fast and driven so much) before it was in the shop. The part that snapped is the wheel joint??? Where the pin goes that the hex spacer pops onto and then the wheel. Is it the universal shaft assembly? Can you tell I know my stuff?? :D Anyways, I figure it's time to start building her up and wanted to know aluminum parts should go on first and which ones are a waste of time. Since my wife and I do drive it often, I don't mind sinking some cash into making it a solid beast. I would love to make it look like this: [image]http://www.asiatees.com/getpic-demo.php?brand=Tamiya&model=DF-02&s=12&size=2[/image] [image]http://www.asiatees.com/getpic-demo.php?brand=Tamiya&model=DF-02&s=11&size=2[/image] [image]http://www.asiatees.com/getpic-demo.php?album=146&brand=Tamiya&model=DF-02&s=16&size=2[/image] Is it worth it?

Hobby Engine Leo 2A5
I have a HE Leo 2a5 with Tamiya Tracks, sprocket, custom HL gearbox to Tamiya sprocket adaptor and HL steel 3:1 gearboxes with spd 400 motors that I need to unload. It still has the HE electronics, but those will need replaced, needs a mounting plate for gears and a custom solution to close the gap on the roadwheels. PM me if you are interested.

RE: Whats the best Heng Long tank?
I don't have a PIV, so can't compare them. I just know the older the mold, the more problems they seem to have. I think HL started to turn their game around with the PIII.

RE: Whats the best Heng Long tank?
Don't buy a KV for your first tank, too many broken out of the box. I love my KV, but the Panther G and Panzer III are much better for a beginner.

RE: Whats the best Heng Long tank?
Panther G or Jagdpanther, not even a competition since it runs perfectly out of the box over any terrain and mechanical flaws have not shown up in the year I've owned them. Panzer and Stug III would be my second choice, but skinny tracks limit you grass and snow surfing.

RE: question about usning fans in HL tanks
I had to add a fan to my RX-18's to keep them from overheating and basically shutting down in the summer. The tanks they were installed in weight 12 and 15lbs, so this might have something to do with it. :) I just tap directly into the power cables running from the switch to the board so the fans start running when you turn the tank on. Just cut some holes in the cover of your RX-18 and mount the fan to it.

Transmitter Question Tamiya/El Mod
Ok guys, I've scraped together some pennies and am ready to buy some real electronics or tank. My choices are between El Mod in my HE Leo 2 or a Tamiya Sherman FO kit. The problem is, my shiny new radio has been sitting in a box for 2yrs now and the only time it was used was on a DBC and they didn't play nice together (lag, inconsistent, etc...). So I come to you experts with the question of which of the above option will my radio work better with? Compatibility with my existing gear will determine which project I donate my $$$ too. [b]Transmitter: HITEC OPTIC 6 radio TX FM QPCM[/b] http://shop.tomsrc.com/product_info.php?cPath=21_23&products_id=653 Includes: (1) Hitec Optic 6-Channel FM/Q-PCM Computer Transmitter w/ NiCad Battery. RE: Conversion Of HL Airsoft Tank To IR?
[quote]ORIGINAL: yellowshaker One thing I would add is to purchase the HL recoil unit to replace the airsof, so that you have a recoiling barrel with flash. This is a simple swap to do. [/quote] Simple? Never have gotten my PIII to work as well as the factory IR system. Figuring out how to wire the recoil and the flash is difficult and my 2 factory HL's (KV-1 & Panther G) were wired completely different from each other. Maybe I just got a bad unit, but my PIII will actually fire twice for every barrel recoil if your timing isn't absolutely perfect. Sucks.

RE: Tanks in snow...
My Asiatam Panzer III with standard metal tracks makes it about 3ft before getting high-centered in the snow. [:@] Thankfully my Panther and KV-1 perform like champions if I put them on ice for awhile before running. This is what happens when you let a warm tank out to play in the snow: [IMG]http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e275/pcsguy88/om32208.jpg[/IMG] [IMG]http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e275/pcsguy88/tn31934.jpg[/IMG]

I never got around to getting a screwdriver, but they are much better functionally than my 901. USB pass thru would be nice also. Back on topic, HL's are cheap garbage and Tamiya's are for people who are inconsiderate of all those unemployed workers in the world. We should redistribute the Tamiya wealth and give everyone a WSN T-34/76. [:)]
