RE: Help with Brushless and LIPO for Cyclone S
you might be able to squeeze an hour or so out of a 5k pack and a 10.5 setup on plastic tires. novak is a not bad, and proven setup, speed passion would also be a good setup, i personally am not as much a fan of mambas but a mamba 4600 will work nicely for a drift setup. but you probably are better off like my man said before getting two 5k packs so u can run more continuously. if money is an issue find some nic nimh packs and run those.

RE: Countersteer drifting
its not just for show, it makes the drift more realistic, it also reacts differently than a non CS car so its hard to tandem a CS car vs. a non CS car.

RE: Drifting a box stock tt-01 is easy.
for me the reason i modded my tt01 from box stock was to make it competitive. box stock it is ok, but with some mods u can take it from a mess around car to a serious competitor. 1) the open diffs- will tend to unload when getting lots of angle, especially with tires that have more bite than abs so locking the rear and tightening the front makes a difference 2) i geared the motor, the stock silver can geared at 8.35 doesnt have nearly enough rpm to prolong a drift, i geared mine at 6.56 or 6.28 (can't remember exactly) and it offers comparible performance to a 13.5 brushless motor. 3) aluminum shaft and ball bearings - the increased rpms can make the plastic shaft flex and smack against the chassis and thats no good thats why i made the changes i did to my car, the aluminum motor mount and dogbones i did because i had the parts lol

RE: Best Drift Chassis?
this is drifting, there are no track times and thats what alot of people don't get. in some other disciplines the chassis definately matters as much as the driver, however in drift it matters less what you run, and more how you run it. TT01 in drift can hang, onroad racing eh... not so much. TT01 is somewhat like an AE86, if you can drive it and tune, you can hang in certain types of races, however there are other types of races that no matter what you are too much of a disadvantage. Drift is one of the areas a tt01 CAN Hang. Same thing goes for the E10, you arent gonna see them competing at the Worlds onroad, but when it comes to drifting they can be just as good as any other car.

http://www.rcdriftclub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=68&t=3693 look at the results for advanced class. TT01 FTW, i got third overall with a tt01 (even though it was listed as a cyclone s since i ran a cyclone s round 1 which ended up being my throwout) I'll say it again. YOU CAN COMPETE WITH ANY CAR 10% CAR 90% DRIVER i can hang with a lot of cars with my silver can tamiya with friction shocks and ghetto modded diffs

RE: Best Drift Chassis?
the car was setup pretty well, but like i said there was nothing remarkable about the car that made me want go out and get one. Same thing with the Pro-D. Its a cool car and all taht jazz and it drives well but its not like the car drives so remarkable well that i am going to go out and sell my cyclone to go get one.
ORIGINAL: Fr33ze
ORIGINAL: peetiewonder there is no best chassis.
[8|] Tamiya TA03F is the best chassis, or drift comp organizers wouldn't have banned them from competing. No other drifter has a front mounted motor. Its a totally different feel vs. mid or rear motor drifters... Good luck finding one though, glad I kept mine. I like the TT01, cheap to buy new, lots

RE: 2wd Drift Tips?
with brushless make sure to upgrade to ball bearings, aluminum shaft and aluminum motor mount. i would lean towards a sensored system over a sensorless system in a tt01 because the sensorless systems arent as smooth so they jar the gears a little more. Also anything faster than a 8.5t (5000kv) and the car will sound disgustingly (or awesomely) loud but the car will hold up to it fine. i ran a novak 7.5T in mine for a long time and then a 6.5 slyder for a while.

RE: Best Drift Chassis?
there is no best chassis. its all about how well u can tune the car to your needs. find a good car with good part support in your area. i would stay away from xray cars though, they are excellent cars, but will cost you a pretty penny and they come with a new model every year so your car will be out of date in a hurry.

RE: subaru impreza tt-01 drift special?
tt01 is an excellent car for beginning. you only need a few basic upgrades to get it drift ready. aluminum shaft, motor mount and ball bearings, and then lock the diff, put silly puddy in the front and gear the motor. I just built one not too long ago and i can hang with cars running big brushless systems with it. Its just as much about the car as it is your ability to drive it.

one 4200. check out all battery .com they have a deal on 8 cell 3800s... they are like 12-13 dollars. if u get 3 of those u can cut the humps off and make 4 6cell packs for about what it would cost you to buy one. they are not the best batteries on the market, but they work well for funning around.

RE: Camber, caster and toe for drifting
depends on the tires you are using. for toe go anywhere from 0 to 3 toe in in the rear and 1 out to 1 in in the front camber depends on tires yokomos - 2-3 in the front, 1-2 in the rear, others 0 should work, 2 front 1 rear works well if you are constantly changing tires. castor doesnt really matter much it will change the turn in and mid corner characteristics of the car but generally anything should work.

i won this shell at a local mini comp the other week, and got bored so i decieded to get my VIP on. Enjoy Colors used are tamiya gold and black, and tamiya andodized pink aluminum and copper. rims are SWP D9s, +7 front, +10 rear, with 1mm spacers all around. Camber is at 3+ in the rear to get the tires inside the well wells

oil dampers and aluminum shaft are a good idea, also if you lock both your diffs, that should start you in the right direction
