RE: Black Horse Macchi C.200
If it's that fragile , just brace it up a little and reglue the firewall .Probably needs nose weight anyway . Maybe glass the firewall on etc .Pretty sad if it can't handle a saito 180 ..

RE: Black Horse Macchi C.200
15x8 @ 8K ? on the laser 120? Sounds like a different Engine is in store. Nice looking plane . I lke the macchis and fly it quite a bit on my RC ww2 simulator (il2 ) I also have the model but it's one of those crappy Airkill macchis. Not too confident in its wing design .

RE: GP GEE BEE
I have the Cmp version with robo struts and the thing flies great .Slightly bouncy on landings but that's no big deal.

RE: Jett Stream muffler question
If no ones tried matching the ports how can you say it doesnt matter? I notice a huge difference in the port sizes from the muffler to my Thunder Tiger36.I guess the question is will it run any worse if the muffler is ground out to match?

RE: Sundowner 36 + Sport JETT .50 or.60LX FIRE
Lite 3 ply is total crap for wing joiners. Spend the extra pennies and get 5 ply or even better carve one out of aluminum billet. Then epoxy it in.

RE: Electric Gee Bee
If a 25 fits so will a thunder tiger 36 . Make it into a rocket . You can always throttle back is my theory ;)

RE: Conversion to Glow
Bottom line for many of us is we like to tinker with engines and love the smell of glow fuel in the morning . Also electrics have very little character . I have an electric powered Stryker and some edfs but they aren't as fun to tinker with as glow engines.I like to do things like engine mods , tune pipe tuning ,changing port timing, making mousse can mufflers etc . With an electric you just plug it in and you're done wizzzzzzzzzzzz . Yaaaawwwwn

RE: Club FOX!
Ok well I also had a sport Jett 40 and that Engine ran a 10-6 (for comparison) at 16700 while still throttling perfectly. So you dont have to sacrifice throttling for power . Just depends on the manufacturer I guess.

RE: Club FOX!
Earlrb I know all of what you're saying , I've been in the hobby since around 87 or so , had tons of engines including a Sport Jett 40 , Rossi 5 FIRE 61, YS120 Sc etc . Changed timing on 2 engines successfully with my trusty dremel and a dial indicator . The q40 wasn't really timed to be an ultra high rpm motor. The plane was a pylon racer (scratch built Rivets) but I used it as a club flier so that's why the 10-6 prop or 9-7 .My main point was the carb wasn't too great .

RE: Club FOX!
Yeah that's right it's my fault that Fox can't build a properly functioning carb because I'm using it for the wrong purpose . I confess .(even though it was mounted in a pylon racer )

RE: Club FOX!
I have a q40 and what a piece of crap. Worst running motor I've ever owned . Terrible transition no matter what tuning . The instructions tell you to file the needle valve if things don't go right . What a steaming pile of ShYte.

RE: Club FOX!
Well I for one will never buy another fox. Even though it was supposed to be a race engine it really wasn't even very powerful , while having very poor needling . 13800 rpm with a 10-6 is not much to write home about . There are many better quality engines out there that actually perform well in power level AND needling Eg- Webra, Jett thunder Tiger etc , to be wasting time and money with fox engines.

RE: GP GEE BEE
It's the same as the CMP model . I have one of those and I did put the robart oleo struts on it . I did have to carve a couple of trenches in the foam for gear blocks .

RE: Fabricating rigid and lightweight push rods
I'd be worried about the glue joint slipping out the end of the carbon tube . Carbon is very slippery stuff and epoxy doesn't stick too well to it .I guess you'd have to rough up the inside of the carbon fiber tube with a smaller diameter drill bit or something so the glue has something to grip .

RE: H9 Sundowner 36
I always go up a size or two on the engine. The old rip the wings off story is bs , as long as you brace things up a little and don't use the crappy stock dihedral brace .

RE: Pica FW 190 D
Mine took about 4 years ... Then again that was on and off tinkering. The cowl got eaten by an unravelling spinner , if anyone is wondering why it's all chewed up ..That's micro balloons and epoxy holding it all together .Been too lazy to repaint it ..

I'm with you on the Hardwood rail motor mounts grimmace . It was a bad idea . After a while they start to crush .Even with a coat of epoxy on them .Mind you mine have lasted since about 1999.

RE: Pica FW 190 D
Cmon guys , the FW190 would suck as an electric . Ok - high speed pass z-z-z-z-z-z-z no character whatso ever. So ya gotta wipe off a bit of slime , no big whoop .Never bothered me in the slightest .Nitro or gas has about a zillion times more character than electric. Especially in a warbird. I do have electrics by the way , in my smaller stuff -edfs and my nutbar 5S stryker .Jeff I have an OS 91 surpass in my FW and it weighs over 12 lbs . If you scroll back a page or so I have video of it flying . The 91 will have no probs powering your plane .

Well it's a great flyer I'll say that much ....Anybody who's interested don't worry about the handling , its just a little bouncy on the landing . If you can still get robarts that's the way to go .
