My guess is the Monster Mutt. It looks so cool!!! Much better looking than the X ray and the performance is second to none. I bet you bought a spare body to dress up that x ray as well. Good luck trying to keep all the women away.

RE: fg big power pipe ?
There is nothing wrong with that pipe on your car. In my days of racing the different pipes did not make that much difference. The Samba is a very nice piece. However the fastest guy in the States 6 to 8 years ago used a basic side FG tuning pipe. If you are trying to get huge gains spend the budget on a motor and clutch package.

RE: fg big power pipe ?
Not much power gain at all. I raced FGs years ago and I did use the big power pipe. In racing it is nice because in a hard side hit the pipe does not get damaged. If you are looking for more speed I would pass on it. In fact I think it might cost a little power. Also, the center of gravity is changed to the downside. Much more body roll with the big power pipe. I did use them and did like it due to less DNF chances. I also removed the packing in the rear portion of the pipe. It would not pass a decibel meter test through IFMAR with the packing removed though ( makes it quite a bit louder). If you do go with it buy an extra plastic sleeve that is used from the header to the pipe and use the extra sleeve to fasten the back portion to the main pipe with hose clamps. The size is off a bit so just run the motor to warm up the sleeve and slowly tighten the clamps down to make the larger plastic sleeve fit the smaller front portion of the pipe. The O rings on a stock big power pipe will not hold it together for long w/o the help of the sleeve. Good luck!

What gears are you guys using for this? I raced FG cars way back when and remember Frank Killiam switching the pionion with the spur on his FG (easy to do on FGs). Not sure what speed he hit. Great work on the speeds gentlemen. Love the 5th scales!

I agree it is false advertising. We should be able to buy one ready to go 100mph like the ad says. Than we can install a real radio in it and have some fun.

RE: can I weld on a 5b pipe that's mounted
DDM sells a carbon fiber bracket to mount DDM pipes. I am not sure if it would work in your case, but, you might want to check it out. It is called the Luna no melt brace and the part # is fd116 at $15.00 US. I am new to the Baja, but, have been researching a new pipe for mine and happened to see it.

RE: Short chassis to long chassis help!
One more thing. The prior owner made that custom pipe. You may have to modify it to make the length fit the longer chassis. Having the exhaust exit the back is not that important. You might want to cut it off and let the exhaust exit the car from the side. There should be a hole that is patched up right near that body mount. Maybe weld the end back on and let the exhaust exit there. It should flow easier instead of tracking all the to the back of the car. Just a thought.

RE: Short chassis to long chassis help!
Chassis could be all the way back to an EVO 1. Standard 8mm chassis and is way better than the 4mm sportsline chassis. They did not change the chassis until the EVO 4 when the went away from the pan car. Fuel tank is one of the older styles that started with the EVO 1 and sportsline models. Being that you have the can style diff and the side mounted non tuning pipe the car was probably a sportsline. Going from short chassis to long chassis just requires the chassis and of course a different body. Probably have to trim the bumper for the new body. You will love a long chassis over the short. Stay away from the mid chassis in my opinion. Very nice car. One more observation- most people run the battery pack close to the ground. Try flipping it over and you will lower the center of gravity. Just be aware of the lower clearance if you drive it off track. Take care

Two more things- buy a neck strap for your radio. Think safety as well - even small plane props are dangerous.

RE: Stumped on first plane
Go with a BNF and buy a real radio. DX6 or DX7 for a long term radio. Jester s1 has the right idea- taxi first and learn some ground control. Stand right behind the model for the first takeoff (first person view) and lift the model off the ground a few feet and land in that same straight line (do this multiple times before you gain significant altitude and attempt a turn). You can do this, however, it may take more than one plane. Buy some foam safe CA glue, scotch tape, and an extra prop. An instructor really helps, but, with a good amount of sim time, patience, some decent budget, good hand eye coordination, this can be done. If you go electric set the throttle trim up, but, not enough to spin the prop. That way you dont shock the model from zero throttle back to throttle (really makes it easier to fly). Good luck!

RE: How much aileron to rudder mix?
My daily driver is an 1100 dollar car. My toy planes definitely cost more than my ride. Not taking anything away from our hobby. But, these are toy planes that we can crash w/o dying. If a guy wants to play with mixes go for it. I wouldnt, but, not much damage can realistically happen. Maybe a pile of balsa at most. I would call a Corvette a toy as well. Nothing against this hobby I love.

RE: How much aileron to rudder mix?
Dont take any of this personally. These are just toy airplanes. That being said I find that the amount of rudder needed through a turn can increase and decsrease. That is why I do not use mixes when flying twins or any bird. It is more fun to add or decrease the rudder at will thru the turn. I would definitely start out with a small percentage of mix 5 percent and work up. You are taking some of the fun out of it in my opinion. Not a bad question at all.

RE: Landings - How Do You Do It?
I tell new pilots not to plan on landings. Just fly the plane over the runway. Ninety degree turns or arc it in (arc is easier than two 90s). Just get used to flying over the runway without the pressure of having to land. In time you will bring the plane closer and closer to the ground. The main problem I see with new pilots is they start the approach too far away (you can finish your final turn over the runway at most fields). I also tell new pilots to fly the model past you and land with the model going away from you. Dont worry about the rudder at first and dont over think the flare up. It will come just keep a positive attitude.

RE: Hobby Stores- Stop selling UAV! You idiots!!!
Do you think that 12000 ft is acceptable? Do you think flying a model without a visual is acceptable? If you do - we differ greatly. It will not stop a criminal act. However, it could cause the end of flying toy airplanes legally. Should bombs be legal even though it wont stop criminals from using them.

RE: Hobby Stores- Stop selling UAV! You idiots!!!
Took off the name calling. I only said idiot, but, vpresly you are right. TBM models. Advertises how we can load them w/ 150 lbs of pesticides or meds. We can also fly them at 12000 feet. Another UAV has an on board generator and is larger. I expect better from a company that sells to hobbyist. The items that TBM is selling should and will be illegal to fly. IRA d Im not worried about modelers. Hobby Town sells a UAV that can be programmed and controlled by i phone. This is why the FAA and Govt are getting involved. Wake up hobby shop owners the quick buck is not worth ending all of this. Warning shot- not talking about cars and boats only planes. That is why my title says UAV. Yes I know technically our toy planes are UAVs. Our toys require transmitters and a visual and have far less capabalities. Im the only one with this view and that is fine.

Why in the hell are hobby stores selling anything that can be controlled w/o full use of a transmitter and a visual on the plane. Any store that does this must have an owner that is dumber than dirt. All modelers join in and boycott any store that sells this crap. These models are useless! I just voiced my opinion to a store I visited on vacation.
