RE: Sun Valley Fliers Cactus Classic, Phoenix, AZ, February 19-20, 2005
Guys, I almost never get involved in internet discussions as they are never ending. One point I seem to not be seeing with all the responces is, Tony and his helpers are doing this in their own time, and probably some of their own money to hold an event so you can all fly. If he doesn't do this, all 70 pilots can't fly. I know every event organizer tries to accomodate everybody, they are peace makers and always try to keep the peace, but as you can see from this discussion, sometimes it's hard to please everybody. The only thing I see wrong here is the lack of support for Tony's efforts to hold this event. On a proactive note, would their be a value in holding a lower class type event. Where only Basic and sportsman could attend, having more experienced pilots help out in the judging and coaching? Keen to hear your thoughts, Pete

RE: Tow Plane Suggestions
I haven't been towing for that long (3 years or so) but all my tow aircraft have a minimum of 80cc, up to 100cc. Additionally, use the most reliable engine you can, and make it a gasser. Glow motors are very fuel hungry. All tow planes at the JR Aerotow have 80cc or higher and we typically we cycle around 30 tows per hour, hope to see you there, in June June 2 6th 2005. http://www.scalesoaring.net/2005%20JR%20Aero%20Tow%20Final.pdf Most of these guys have been towing for many more years than I have, but what I learned came from attending Aero Tows, Slow with lots of power is the right combination.
