RE: honey bee fp 7.4 lipo?
ORIGINAL: Tinkman Hello Peter,  So here's an all-around general question. How long does your antenna wire have to be? Mine's about 2 or 3 ft. long. I just installed some Super Skids and am using the antenna tube, but there's still quite a bit of wire hanging out. I'd like to trim it, but I don't know how much to leave.
Hey again Tinkman, Disney explained it very well. You could always do as I did and buy a [link=http://www.rc711.com/shop/popup_image.php?pID=2674]2.4G 4in1[/link], and bind your Esky 2.4G Tx with more than one model. Gets rid of the aerial, and the Tx antenna - I flew into two of them[:@] Peter[sm=shades_smile.gif]

RE: BIG LAMA
ORIGINAL: Beachcomber Hey Fernando, do you find flying helis and airplanes to be difficult to transition from one to the other? I'm considering it but don't want to mess up what I have learned on helis.
Hey again Beachcomber, You could always consider downloading [link=http://www.rcflightsim.com/]Clearview[/link] flight simulator - it has both helis and planes - and only costs $40! As Fernando said PRACTICE the skills needed to fly either - without spending any more $ on parts. The procedure is: Download Clearview to your comp. Fly helis, planes (and the latest version has cars to drive) for a limited time - and if you decide it is what you like - pay $40 (I used paypal[;)]) to buy a software key number that unlocks ALL of the models available!! This would definitely answer your questions about transitioning between helis and planes and increase your skills in both at the same time![:D] Peter[sm=shades_smile.gif] P.S. Here is a site containing pages of other [link=http://my.att.net/p/s/community.dll?ep=87&subpageid=314205&ck=]helicopter models[/link] that you can download (once) to fly for free also. P.P.S. I have downloaded 20 flying sites ("landscapes" ) too.......[:)] P.P.P.S. (if there is such a thing) I just tried downloading a different plane model from that linked site (Kens), and it popped up "Please note that this file is not free software. After a 40 day trial period you must either buy a licence or remove it from your computer". I have never had this message pop up for any helicopter models or landscapes.

I don't know what I would do without clearview to get my flying fix (of any aircraft that I desire[;)]) after dark, when it is to windy, when raining (it doesn't snow here in Sydney) or when I am just to lazy to get outdoors........[:)] ...And $40 is quite reasonable & achievable for this excellent photo-realistic sim[:D]. RE: E-Sky KOB lifting capacity
ORIGINAL: Nuckan Been flying heli for 2 years now. Lately it has been mostly FPV with Align helicopters. Bought E-Sky KOB's as x-mas presents for the kids but could not hold myself from trying them early. It could barely lift a micro spy cam weight 50g. So my FPV equipment will never be lifted. Wonder what possibilities there are for increasing power in these helicopters (very similar to Lama). Brushless? Maybe not since the ESC is integrated. Any other good ideas how to get the heli more agile etc? Sorry about the 'UAV' in the head line. A bit exaggerated.
Hey Nuckan, The small Esky coaxials (of which I own seven) have limited lift. What type of blades are you running? If they are the standard Esky ones, you will get more lift and durability from [link=http://www.miracle-mart.com/store/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=80_204_149&sort=20a&filter_id=15&alpha_filter_id=88]Xtreme blades[/link]. I recommend ordering the yellow blades for visibility - and don't forget to order both uppers and lowers.......... While you are at that HongKong site you might want to consider scrolling down within link and ordering stronger SE180 Bearing Motors. In combination the Xtreme blades and Xtreme motors will generate more lift than you are getting now![:)] Peter[sm=shades_smile.gif] P.S. RE: BIG LAMA
ORIGINAL: Buz
ORIGINAL: Buz Ok, back with another report. I found the fly bar keeper that screws into the top of the BOL top rotor head. I put it back on and it was held on by only the cap and one screw. The side of the flybar carrier is broken off, but this held a lot stronger than I thought. So, I took it outside... no wind this time... and my wife was watching me fly around. Oh, it was perfectly balanced and just outstanding with FF and other smooth turns and a few landings and take offs. So, I have this tree beside my driveway... and I swear, it attracts helicopters! Every helicopter I have every flown here ends up in that tree. So, after all this time flyiing by it, you'd think I'd know where it was. I'm starting to believe this tree has some kind of magical powers over my helicopters! I have included pictures of the tree. It looks like any other ordinary tree.... but it is possessed! So, I need your help. Does anyone see anything weird or strange about the picture of the tree? I just don't get it.
ORIGINAL: GTX SlotCar On that particular heli I just put it on for decoration. It's a spare SuperGrip. With the 300 size CP helis, like the Blade CP Pro's and the old HB CP2 you could get blade strikes on the tail boom. A lot of guys used SuperGrips to cushion the blow. They bought the superskids landing gear and supergrips. Supergrips comes with 12 pieces, 4 each of 3 different colors. So they'd put 4 on the skids and 4 on the tail boom where the blades were likely to strike. It saved some blades and cracked (stock) tail booms. That's where I got the idea from. Here's a pic of another one without the SuperGrip. Oh, and speaking of Grips, did you know that they're actually called 'skid nuts'? The term 'grips' seems common now, but it wasn't used before we used it. All of our products are called ''Super'' something. RE: Honey Bee FP
ORIGINAL: GTX SlotCar A lot of the new helis are using a flat platform frame like the one used in the Walkera 4G1B. Other models like the Walkera 22E and Century Hummingbirds have always used it. About a year ago we came out with Adapter22 which adapts SuperSkids400 to these frames. Since the landing gear and skids in the SuperSkids300 kits are the same as the ones used in the SuperSkids400 kits, you can use the 300 parts if you have the landing gear already. These flat flatform frames have their own battery mounting system so the those parts of the SLG300 kits won't be used (but you can use the battery rods as flybars). If you have a SuperBoom and a tubing bender, you can go for the upswept tail (Hi Tail) and 'low rider' look and you don't need the Adapter22. Here are some pics with SLG300 and SLG400, and with and without Adapter22.
Hey again GTX, In pics 3, 5 & 6 there is a black "bead" or tube at the bend in the Ti boom.
ORIGINAL: Raycamaro I didn't see a Mode choice. I hope it's 2.
Hey again Ray, Due to it being in the US - it probably is! You could send them an email just to be sure.[:D] Peter[sm=shades_smile.gif]

RE: BIG LAMA
ORIGINAL: Raycamaro Ordered my Big Lama form XHELI for $100.59 including shipping. I guess I'll have to go back and read a lot of posts about this heli.
Hey again Ray, That's great news mate![:)] Which mode did you end up ordering for your Tx? I suggest mode 2 - it seems to be more natural a movement for someone coming from a video game or plane background....[;)] I can see from the price that you didn't bother with training gear[:'(] or flight sim - good choice! When your bird arrives in a few days, charge lipo with balance charger supplied, then install lipo (but don't connect wires) and immediately run the motors in by: removing blades (remember how tight they are for replacement[;)]) put AA's supplied in Tx & switch on. Lower trim tab beside throttle control all the way to the bottom - place the other three trim tabs in the center. Connect lipo wires - holding heli still until light on 3in1 has stopped flashing and is solid green. Place bird on ground in the middle of a room and give it a little throttle - just enough to start both blade grips spinning. Leave it like this for 5 minutes. Increase throttle a little (you should be able to hear a diff'rent "note" noise). Leave it like this for another 5 minutes. Repeat - for a total of 20 minutes (that is 4 throttle settings). Normally your lipo wouldn't last this long - but without a load it can do it easily.....[:D] Your motors will have started to bed in the carbon brushes with the comm. making a better contact - producing less sparking, more power and greater efficiency (leading to longer flight times). Reinstall your blades. Also don't forget to wait for around 15 minutes to cool before charging up your lipo again for your maiden flight - and if you can, video it for us to view! Thanks Peter[sm=shades_smile.gif] P.S. You can still email and change your order if you want 'till tomorrow.

RE: BIG LAMA
ORIGINAL: Buz Does anyone have a ''do it yourself'' fly bar keeper? I have 3 that the fly bar has broken. I guess I could get more metal head shafts... but it sure would be nice to have a simple fix.
Hey again Buzz, If there is enough of the side material left to use - try this: Drill out the screw holes intended to hold on the cap, file the round part of flybar hub just a little at the top to stop binding and insert a CF rod through the drilled holes. Secure the CF rod with grommets/rubber bands/ fuel piping or whatever you have handy![:)] Here is a [link=http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/fb.asp?m=9070309]link to pics[/link] of what I mean. RE: BIG LAMA
ORIGINAL: rusty63 Hi Peter , Perhaps you can find a suitable eyelite type washer to fill gap . Also have a look at at Servo arms .Perhaps you might find something suitable from these that could be modded to fit . Another idea just had a look at my Belt cp . It has eye typed spacers on some linkages . Guess its just matter finding suitable size to get space required for these Blades . cya <img alt='''' src=''http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/msn/regular_smile.gif'' />
Hey again Russell, Thanks for the ideas. When I get time (possibly on the weekend[;)]) I think I will try a heavily modded servo arm[:D] Peter[sm=shades_smile.gif] I would like to incorporate the Super-blades shims (in pics also) - 'cause the hole is perfect for Esky blade screws[:)]

RE: BIG LAMA
ORIGINAL: RC_Addiction
Hey again Fernando, I can see you flying one of these ''sparkley'', flashing, 3-channel birds around and not wanting to destroy the blades by trimming for your BOL Have a search on ebay for the blades only. Some HongKong stores sell them occasionally
Hi again Peter, LOL, well i gave it a second thought and will stick with the BOL only since i want to rebuild my Phoenix 2000. I did look on ebay for wider/thicker blades as you suggested and I found and bought [link=http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170393772790&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT]THESE BLADES[/link] wich i think will go perfect with the actual look of my BOL. They have this rubber ( or at least looks like rubber) edges that would protect the blades against eventual crashes, strikes , bad landings etc. What do you think? Will post results when i get them in about a painful couple of weeks. [&o] ... Read you around,
Hey again Fernando, My blades arrived today. They are the same length as Esky BOL blades - slightly wider and stiffer (probably due to the rubber "cover" over the leading edge). I guess the bird that they are intended for is a bit heavier than the BOL 'cause of the stiffer blade - but the one downside of these blades is the huge hole in the root - the second pic shows the Delrin (or at least I think they are Delrin plastic[;)]) shims that came with my super-bladesEZ that I bought for my HBFP. I will have to build up the gap with Eziweld putty or similar.......... Have your blades arrived? If yes, How did you deal with the enlarged hole in the root? How do they fly? Questions, questions ev'rywhere![:)] Peter[sm=shades_smile.gif] P.S. There is a link to where I bought these blades in the quote above.[:D] P.P.S. If you read the shipping details within link, it predicts the same amount of time for shipping to Australia & USA (from HongKong) - so your blades won't be far away now.....!!

RE: ESKY LAMA 4 THREAD
Hey again Ido, Wow! Yes, one of the guys at my heli-meet has one of those - they are brilliant! Get one if you can.[sm=thumbs_up.gif][sm=thumbs_up.gif] Peter[sm=shades_smile.gif] P.S. It is good that you have removed rachet from Tx - it does give smoother throttle control. Try slipping on a piece of [link=http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXD727&P=7]silicon "fuel tubing"[/link] (a short length is used to hold the fuselage on[;)]) and replace it back again. This gets rid of the rachet action, while retaining a tighter touch - leaving it smooth and more precise![:D] You may be able to buy a foot length at your local hobby shop.[:)] P.P.S. Maybe you can read that language and translate for me?[:)] It is a Nine Eagles SOLO, but WHAT PRICE?[sm=wink_smile.gif]
