RE: Servo jitters Help please!!!
Problem solved after 2 hours on the phone with the spektrum guys. Im an idiot basically and installed one of the servos backwards, so when we programmed it that one kept going the wrong way. Headed to maiden her tomorrow. Thanks all!

RE: Servo jitters Help please!!!
I did as you sugessted. Flaperons on, dual elevator servos, mix 5 is: AIL > REL rates at 100% The ailerons work properly, but when I roll right both sides of the elevator go up, and when I roll left both sides of the elevator go down. The elevator works normally moving with elevator input. If I switch the mixing to AIL > LEL rates at 100%, then the elevator halves work as elevons, but they go the opposite direction of the ailerons. The left aileron goes up while the left elevator goes down and the opposite on the other side.

RE: Servo jitters Help please!!!
Thanks guys. Its a seagull yak 54 90, but I dont have the skills necessary to really put it through the ringer. I was told these servos would be fine for me to just fly and do some simple aerobatics. It does have dual ail and dual ele servos. I have set the RX to reflect this. Im only using the AR8000 reciever, and I did figure out how to get them all working without using the Y's, and that solved the jittering issue. However, now Im having a program issue. I have the ailerons and elevator linked. The elevator performs correctly as an elevator, but when I roll right, the ailerons go the correct direction, but the elevator goes opposite. I cant reverse the elevator servos because then the elevator is reversed during normal opperation. I have tried linking the Lail to the Rele, and vice versa with no difference. The right ail goes up, but the right ele goes down without regard to how they are linked. That doesnt make any sense to me. Im waiting to talk to Spektrum as I know this is my own error somewhere. I appreciate the help thusfar!

Servo jitters Help please!!!
OK guys. Im gettin my newest plane outfitted, and Im having a problem. Im using a brand new Spectrum DX7s TX, using brand new Spectrum AR6100e RX(s), and a Spectrum AR8000 Rx, and brand new JR sport ST47bb servos, a brand new 2000mah 6v nimh battery. I am familiar with the bind procedure and have gone through it many times. However, immediatly after binding, and the TX reboots, Im getting bad servo jitter from 3 of 5 brand new servos. This plane has dual aileron and dual elevator servos. None of my Rx's have dual ports for aileron or elevator so I am using Y harnesses. If I eleminate the Y harnesses the jittering stops and everything works as normal. The AR8000 Rx has 3 Aux ports, but I dont know if I can or how to set them up to control the dual ailerons and elevators. I dont know what is causing this, but I need to get it sorted ASAP. I wanna fly Saturday. Please help.

RE: Yak 54 90 What prop?
Well I dont have anything more than sport skills at the moment. Well at least not in reality. I can fly some 3d maneuvers on G6 (harriers, hover, waterfall, torque rolls, rolling harriers with a foamy) but I havent had a real plane that is capable of anything more than loops and rolls, I know this one can do a little more than that, but I will mostly be "sport" flying it.

Yak 54 90 What prop?
Hey guys. I picked up a Seagull Yak 54 90 ARF today. It has an OS .91 two stroke on it. Now I realize that it is definitly not overpowered at all, but it should be ok for some nice sport flying and a touch of 3d from what I have heard. What prop should I run on that engine to get the best stunt performance out of it? Currently its running an APC 14x6. Im thinking about picking up a 15x4 wood prop like a xoar and trying that as well. I just wanted to get your thoughts on it. The plane is 8.5-10lbs flying weight depending on the engine, and I do plan to put a 1.50 four stroke on it later down the road. I am dieing to get out and fly, so looking for the best prop to toss it around with. Thanks.

RE: Eflight Pitts 12 15e
Yeah, I did some number crunching and everything came out ok. It was flying with a huge 4cell battery before that was nearly twice the weight of the motor. Its all good. I will have to find my figures to post. Little update. Picked up the engine mount today. Just like the one in this pic, but this is not mine, or my engine. It reduces the vibration by 80% it claims. [image]http://www.justengines.co.uk/acatalog/dubromt.jpg[/image] Also picked up the wood for the firewall, and since school work and test week is done, I will be making some headway this weekend. Also found out that I am going to have to use a voltage regulator as my lipo battery is an 11.1v and my receiver cant handle more than 6v. LHS didnt have one for a 3 cell lipo only 2 cell. Checked out the engine, and Im going to need a new needle valve assembly, everything that screws into the carb. Gonna be fun finding that since this is an older engine. But, progress is being made!

Snug fit for sure. I will likely have to cut out the area of the cowl around the head to keep it from melting onto the engine. This picture shows that the carb will have to be inside the fuse so the firewall will have to be cut away for that. Fuel tank will go here, it will be pressurized, and foam mounted. Couple notes: I will mount the engine right side up so the exhaust can be directed down, and so the choke pull as well as the mixture screw can be extended out the sides of the fuselage for easy adjustment. I will be making a solid firewall from 1/8th inch basswood, that will be screwed and epoxied to the current firewall. I will be using a vibration absorbing mount that has rubber bushings to keep from shaking this thing to death. I have to use the 11x6 prop because the 12x6 only turns 9700 rpm on this engine and that isnt enough to run in the sweet spot. I will have to bend the exhaust pipe to a 45* angle so it doesnt interfere with the firewall, unless I get a 90* manifold and a straight head pipe(Anyone know where to get this?) I will be using basswood dowls to make supports inside the fuselage once its all together, this thumper will vibrate alot more than that electric motor did. I am mounting the fuel tank under that support, because after it runs and flies I will be installing a smoke system, and the tank for that will mount on top of the battery tray. :) I am searching for a figurine to install inside the canopy, but as of yet I havnt found what Im looking for. I will be using a Spektrum DX7s to fly it. I have named the plane "Confutetion" because everyone I have spoken with said it couldnt be done. Confute means to prove a person or an assertion wrong. I think it fits.

Help with Enya 46-4c exhaust
Hey guys. Im doing an electric to glow conversion, and I have an issue. The stock exhaust for my enya 46-4c wont work for this application. This is my first 4c engine, so I dont know where to source parts and such. I need an exhaust pipe that makes a 45* bend immediatly when it comes out of the engine. This way the exhaust will be directed straight away from the engine. Can you guys help me? IDK where to look. I tried to bend the stock one, but the metal is fairly hard, and Im afraid Im going to crush it, or strip the head. I only need about another 22.5 degrees of bend out of the stock one and it will work. Do you guys think if I heated it with a torch to red hot that it would bend? I dont know what material it is. Thanks in advance.

RE: STUPIDLY THIN / STUPIDLY FAST...?
I think your way wrong on the lacking style. This is purely CP style! lol It reminds me of an old control line plane or a torpedo of sorts. I like it. A couple things I learned from this build. 1. You dont have to be a perfectionist on the inside of the plane, servo mounts and the like can be kinda rough. 2. Really thin wings are surprizingly simple to build. 3. Epoxy and sawdust make for slopless torque rod tubes. 4. Cowls are not as hard as I thought. 5 Blending and keeping it simple is the recipe for speed. 6. CP can build a plane blindfolded, asleep, and one hand tied behind his back, and do it in about a week. lol Thanks CP for this build. I will be starting on my GLH soon and Im sure I will have tons of questions...like this one: How are you guys making such intricate cuts for the torque rods on the TE and Ails?

I was wondering if anyone has built one of these things? Its pretty rediculous in the sim. If one were to build such a beast just from looking at the photos, and the specs on RF. It looks like the fuse would be 10mm or 12mm depron, wings 6mm? What do you think? [image]http://www.davelauck.com/images/max/images/KE-Foamy-Large.jpg[/image]

RE: Need Your Help- Deployed Soldier looking for any information on a possible RC donation site
I just read this entire thread, and as an OIF/OEF vet I am very proud of the people who stepped up and donated items to this cause. I spent a year in Iraq during the initial push in 2003, and let me tell you...Any minute we got of downtime was enjoyed. Toward the middle once we finally got settled in a bunch of the guys in my unit mail ordered rc cars from tower(two months from mailing order to recieving packages). I also got a copy of realfight G2 with a few of the addon disks. I was in an aviation unit (Apache Longbows), and my BC shot down the RC plane idea in about 3 seconds. Something about interferance with the helicopters, blah blah blah..lol typical enlisted reaction, but he said cars and trucks were cool as long as we stayed off the active flight line. So I got a team associated rc10 tc3, my battle got a outlaw truggy, and my Plt Sgt got a F1 Ferarri. All electric because at the time I didn't have the resources to figure out the logistics of getting nitro fuel in the mail over there. We had a blast with those cars. I had actually forgotten about mine untill I went through a divorce and had to dig through every nook and cranny of my boxes and storage. When I found it, I just sat there, laughed, then got somber, then laughed again. Good times in a bad situation. I certainly would have tried to do something if I knew of this back when it was going on. You guys are an awesome group of people, and I have noticed that in the Rc aviation hobby I run into more and more people like yourselves. Selfless, patriotic, determined AMERICANS!!! RE: STUPIDLY THIN / STUPIDLY FAST...?
Bwahahaha, oh my. So let me get this straight. You grease the torque rod, mix up some epoxy, pour in a predetermined amount of sawdust, place the torque rod in the groove, then surround it with the mixture and pack it in tightly. The mixture dries, but because of the grease on the rod it doesnt stick, so you have a zero slop permanent fixture. Genius!!

Thats an interesting method for glassing. Never seen it done that way! You must be pretty fast with the CA to get it spread before it dries? Did some engine testing today, gonna do some more tomorrow. Today I tested an 11x6 prop which turned 7200rpm, obviously that wont work. Also tested a 7x4 which turned 16,000. Perfect for a shrike or wonder, but not for my pitts. Gonna test a 9x5, and a 10x4 three blade tomorrow to see what they will do. Im kinof hoping since its light and only a 4 pitch that it spins the 3 blade up around 12k or so. I would love to have that prop on it for scale looks. The cowl is only 6 inches across so even with a 9" diameter prop I should have enough tip sticking out to have great performance. The 9x5 might be the hot ticket. The spinner broke so I will have to try to hand start it tomorrow, booo!
