RE: Leaf Blowers - brands?
I use a Black and Decker 18 Volt as well. I have been getting away from the Blowers and using my bilge motor more. I think it cools it down faster then then blower and is a lot quieter. I can also hook up my batteries to discharge as well.

RE: C-ARF Ultra Flash build Thread + Video
ORIGINAL: gooseF22 Dang Smitty, that was simple and good.. DrV, most jets with a nose gear door pitch down with the gear.. try a 3-4% up elevator mix to the gear switch when the gear is down... I want to throw out a technique... I learned this watching aerobatic guys with 3-5 flight modes and talking with Dave Payne, and John Redmond at HH.... Set your trim up on flight modes.. all the mainline transmitters can do this.. then slave flight modes to your flap switch... You take off in mid flap - trim it right after takeoff... done.... put flaps up, gear up, and trim again....done... then put the gear and flaps down up high....trim for a slight decent a couple mins before landing...done... the aircraft is trimmed in one flight, unless you need to make a minor flap to elevator mix because you run out of trim... but if you got the takeoff setting right, land there.. With the DX18, you can keep any of them common tho, so I use separate aileron and elevator trims on flt modes 0,1,2 (flap up, mid, land), and common rudder trim, since it doesn't really change.. Best technique.. If you set up crow, then mix flap to FPN, or aux XX.. whatever gives you crow, and it comes in slowly and the plane never changes pitch.. I did this on my kingcat and elan, and had it on this one when it was flying... sure makes it less of a knuckle biter to get trimmed for landing.. FWIW.... :)
+1 Thats exactly what I do on all my planes. Absolutely Love the conditions in my radio (Futuba 12fga) Just makes it nicer all around!!!!!

RE: k-80 needs new home
ORIGINAL: RCISFUN A COMP ARF Flash[;)] Mine is the classic version (w/wing tip tanks) and I fly mine with a Jet Central Rabbit (19 Lbs) and it is plenty fast enough, the new Ultra Flash has considerably less drag so it will go even faster. I had the long nose Version of the Reaction ARF... it needs more power as it is has a lot of drag (i.e. Thick airfoil)! My buddies have the Boomerang Elan, it would fly fine, however more power is desirable as you had mentioned.
+1 on the Flash although mine has a rhino I have seen them fly great on the rabbit.

RE: Fire extinguishers.
I have a 10 LB CO2 for startup fires and I also keep a small foam one with me at all times for the a crash/fuel fire. We had a turbine crash last year and we used up two 10Lb CO2 extinguishers and it did absolutely nothing to the fire. Someone came running out with a tiny foam one and One 3 second burst is all it took to put out the entire fire.

RE: Lipo Fire in Garage
I agree with the venting. I think they should be vented. When you buy a lipo charging sack/bag they have 3 buttons on the top or a strip of velcro to close the bag. They are well vented. This is what I did with my charging ammo box. I drilled a 1/4" hole in the top and a larger one for the wires in the bottom.

RE: How do you roll? - Field support equipment
This is what I use at the field.you can find the parts here http://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_427456_427456 then I just made the rest from some extra wood that I had laying around. It rolls right into my trailer (with out the plane on it of course) I have the smaller stuff (start up tank HDT, compressor, propane, ect ect in the milk carton. In the one picture you will see a smaller black box under the carrage for my Transmitter. There is also a deep cycle battery on their that is usually in the trailer but I needed one day so I just left it on the cart. This saves me a couple of trips back and forth when I go to the field. If I put together and take apart my planes by the trailer I only have to make one trip from the car to the flight line

For my Comp Arf Flash. 1. throttle 2. Aileron 3. Aileron 4. Flap 5. Flap 6. Elevator 7. Elevator 8. Rudder 9. Nose Gear 10. Gear 11. Brakes 12. Smoke 13. Wing Tip Lights. I also have all Futuba servos in both my jets a flash and a boomer. The 8 fg is great radio and you will no problems flying a jet with it. I personally have the 12FG and I love it. Their are more mixes and conditions with the 12 and up radios then the 8 has. Jack, I have an extra Grey nose gear door and hinge. I also have the plastic Main door liners and covers (Yellow) from my Original Flash. You are welcome to them if you want. PM me your address and I will send them out. In my opinion You will want to put the nose gear door on before you fly it. It will change the way the plane slows down when the gear is deployed.

RE: In need of some wise mens thoughts
I fly off of a grass sod farm and we have the same problem with the burns, although the field we fly off of is kinds just for us they will not sell the sod on our field. One year it was so dry that the burns were overwhelming people were so pissed they wanted to stop us from flying the turbines for a while, but the owner stepped in and said "no way it grows back" We are lucky that the owner of our SOD farm Loves the turbines and is a great guy Remember you are not burning the roots of the grass so it grows back with in a couple of days. We use a metal deflector on all start up and shut downs. Vettster is right most of the time the burns come from sitting in one spot for a while or from going from idle to full. We try not to stay in one spot for to long when we get to our take off position. There really isn't much more then that that can be done. At one time we had a ban on all turbines that were pointed down bobcats and such but that has since been lifted.
