RE: E-Flite Mini Pulse XT Owner's Club
ORIGINAL: eghershey Ok: I've had several flights now with the new Pulse XT. The first one, setup with a transmitter that doesn't have dual rate, and I used the middle position on the control rods both on the servos and attachments. Got off the ground very, very fast and holy moley......I'm all over the sky trying to get control of it. Manage to get a lot of altitude, (altitude is my friend) and calmed down and started just barely moving the sticks and flew in a circle thinking, how in the world will get this thing down in one piece. Well, got it down on the wheels and in one piece. Made the adjustments to the control rods to the mildest settings and said a Hail Mary and gave it another chance to impress me. It worked well, every thing under control and some of the nicest landings I've ever done (and no one to see them). I just picked up a 2.4 radio and receiver with dual rate and converted it. I'll see how that goes tomorrow. Thanks to everyone for some good advice.
I suggest using EXPO. I have mine set with +35 on all surfaces smooths it out nicely. EXPO, like altitude, is your friend too.
ORIGINAL: Johnnyrocco123 Can someone plese explain how to Mount the E-flite 480 on to the Mini pulse??? I have the mount that came with he ARF but the bolts won't go through the holes with the motor on the mount. ARRGH!!! I've tried a bunch of #4 washers, but ut's way too tedious and a crumby job.
you have to drill new holes in the fire wall and re-install the blind nuts for the new holes. The Park 450 and 480 have different bolt patterns.

RE: E-Flite Mini Pulse XT Owner's Club
I run 2200's in mine. Don't worry about too much power. People have put in larger motors, so don't worry. 1300 batteries may be too light. Check the balance before flying. My plane has a Turnigy 35-36C with a 36a speed controller, 10x7 APC prop. Flies probably 60+ mph. Love it! I think this motor is probably a little hotter than the Park 480, maybe even equal to the Power 10.

RE: the big question, what should I get
Foamies are the best way to fly cheap. If you search around you can find free plans to download. check out hobbyking.com for lots of good low price electric goodies. I've bought from them lots of times. Great prices on lipo batteries. can't beat their prices.

RE: Sapac T-45 foam power upgrade needed
Depending on the ESC you choose, you may not need a BEC. It's only running the motor and 2 servos. I thought about trying a 4-cell, but we would have to add weight in the tail to balance the heavier battery. Plus, I'm not sure if a 4 cell will fit in that plastic battery cage. I may just fly this plane as-is, then maybe later get the fiberglass T-45 and trick it out.

AJ Slick 70
Anyboy know anything about this plane? Looks like a new release, but no info on 3DHS's website yet except the price... $439.99 2 color themes... Red AJ color scheme and a BLUE/SILVER fantasy racing scheme. If it's anything like their other planes, it should be awsome.

Sapac T-45 foam power upgrade needed
I've flown my T-45 foam Goshawk about 15 times now and like it. It's my first EDF, but I can tell I'm ready to go faster already. Without buying a new plane, what upgrade can I do to get more speed? Should I just put on a bigger motor, or put in a whole new EDF unit? Has anybody out there upgraded one of these foam T-45s?? Thanks!

Just bought Sapac T45 Goshawk (foam version)
I picked up the receiver ready kit for $180 at a show today. No shipping, no sales tax... I'm happy! It even came with a 2200mah 3-cell lipo and a el-cheapo charger (that I'll never use) but hey I'm happy! Anyway, it looks pretty straight forward and super easy to build, but it's my first venture into EDF. I've been flying electrics of all types for a couple years now and this looked like it was the next logical step into EDF's. Does anybody have this plane in the foam version? Are there any surprises waiting for me? Any known problems I should be aware of before I maiden this baby? Here's a link to it... http://shop.sapacamerica.com/browse.cfm/4,1176.html

You'll have to drill new holes for the 480 I upgraded mine with a Turnigy 35-36C. It's more than half the price of the 480 and just as powerful if not more so. There are some prior posts about this upgrade and all the how to's Definately worth the effort! Mine's a rocket!

I have also been looking at great planes they have 2 50 inch electrics. They look really nice also. And there is a review on rcu with as we speak. Man there are a lot of choices to make!?!?!
I don't know if overall cost is a factor for you, but the AJ Slick is expensive to outfit compared to some other very decent planes. Just comething to consider. The AJ Slick is a sweet plane, no doubt.

Use a HS-56 (Karbonite Gear) for the rudder. My HS-55 plastic gears stripped on a hard landing. No trouble since putting in the tougher servo on the rudder. And yes, you will need extentions for the rudder and elevator servos.

RE: E-Flite Mini Pulse XT Owner's Club
ORIGINAL: bertsirkin THe Extra 260 is a dream to fly - one of the remarkable things about it is that it requires almost NO space to land. I frequenly take it into slow lazy circles coming closer to the ground with each circle and end up landing in front of me stalling it a few inches above the ground. It's fast and maneuverable. I'm not a very good 3D pilot, so, although I can do a knife edge, inverted flight, etc, don't use it to it's full potential. It is very fragile and light and find that flying in a little wind isn't as enjoyable as flying the MPXT in light to medium wind. bert
I'm looking hard at the PA Extra 260... when you say it's very fragile, what kind of problems have you had with it? What parts tend to crack or break? How does it do on grass landing strips? How to you like the "Carbon Fusion" construction? Is is hard to repair? I also have a MPXT and it's a great flying plane. I reinforced the areas around the landing gear mounts and have not had any trouble since. I've landed her on a grass field at least 150 times with no issues since reinforcing. Thanks!!!

I would also suggest the Cessna 182 Skylane. http://www.flyzoneplanes.com/airplanes/hcaa23.html My local hobby store has one that comes with RealFlight 3.5 flight simulator for around $250. Pretty good deal. The extra batteries for this are cheap too. Like $7 or so. 4 channel and parts are readily available and cheap too. Practice on the flight simulator Join a club Fly the plane Go home with a smile on your face!

I think there is a new HS-82 comming out pretty soon. HS-82HD (Karbonite gears) Not long ago, Tower Hobbies had them listed for $16.49 but stock status said "Late January". RE: Who here has went from sim to flying with no instructor?
I learned to fly on a G3.5 My first real R/C plane was a SkyFly, then I got an Electristar. Both are on RealFlight and it was a tremendous help. I ended up joing a club after I already knew how to fly pretty well. I was able to pass the club's check out test flight on the first try. A friend of mine joined shortly afterward and he used a combination of G3.5 and a club instructor. He was able to pass the check out test in just a couple weeks. Most guys at the club seem to take about 2 months of work with an instructor to certify if they don't use RealFLight. I still use my G3.5 weekly. It's great for trying stuff I'm not ready to try in real life yet!

Need ideas for foamie with my spare motor...
I've got a spare E-Flite Park 450 & 22A ESC laying around begging to be put on a foamie. I also want to use the 1300MAH 3-cell lipos I've already got a bunch of. I want to build an Extra 300-type of plane for practicing/learning 3D moves so it needs to be durable. Most of the plans I've found call for a much smaller motor or a geared setup. Any suggestions??? RE: E-Flite Mini Pulse XT Owner's Club
ORIGINAL: coololdude So how did your flight go???? Is it as fast as you thought it would be????
I flew it yesterday with the Turnigy 35-36C and it's a whole lot faster than it was! Much more torque and punches straight up for unlimited vertical. My friend said it was like a pressing the NOS switch on a race car when I went from half to full throttle. It was pretty darn awsome! I used washers in the bottom of the engine mount to eliminate the down angle of the motor (like you suggested) and I think one needs to come out. At full throttle, it wants to climb like a mother, so I think it needs just a little bit of down angle. I tried 11x7 and 10x7 APC props. The 10x7 seemed to be a little faster and had longer flight times. I purchased a couple more props to try out this weekend. 11x5.5, 10x5, and 9x6. I'm looking more for power to do better acrobatics than top speed. It doesn't go 90mph, but it's easily another 20+mph faster than it was with the stock Park 450. What's been your best prop? For speed? For acrobatics? Thanks!!!!
