RE: Looking for builds that show Carbon rods driving multiple flaps?
FW190, I am working on an S2-Tracker and the rib profile is to thin to mount mini aileron servos in the wing. So, I am hoping to mount them closer to the center section. Also, I have Four split flaps and a common shaft, at least for two sets, would save some weight in servos. I know I can use match box's and my radio is capable of ganging four flap servos. Just trying to eliminate some hardware. Then again, I suppose one most weigh out all the arrow shafts and support bushings.

Whit, Great idea thanks! Should the arrow shaft be supported with bushings at both ends?

Looking for builds that show Carbon rods driving multiple flaps?
Over the years I have seen photos of guys running carbon fiber rods through the wings to run multiple flaps with a single servo. If I remember correctly they epoxied on multiple control horns through out the length to control the individual flaps. I am hoping some of you guys may have a link to some of these builds, or have done it yourself and post some photos. Just trying to not reinvent the wheel!!!. Thanks Mike

RE: Looking for Airfoil advice
Limybob, Thanks for the help, the file worked!!!! So now I am trying to decide if I should increase both root and tip chords to add square inches and lower the wing loading. The full scale has a narrow wing with the root chord at 9'11"(119") and the tip chord is 48", wingspan is 68'4" (820"). I am scaling it down to 1/10th scale giving me a root of 11.9" and the tip at 4.8" with a wingspan of 82". If I add .500 to both chords this would add 41 square inches. Will this work or would also need to increase the rear stab as well? When I try to "Click here to upload images and files"! , or "BETA: Multi-File Upload with Progress Bar", nothing happens. Is RCU having problems?

Thanks for the link but it doesn't show the 63-420. So what other airfoils are available for high lift?

Looking for Airfoil advice
I am working on the S2-Tracker. The root airfoil is a naca 63-420 and the tip is the naca 63-415. I have found the tip airfoil but unable to locate the Root 63-420 in a DAT file. So, I am looking for Other airfoils that I can use. All suggestions would be welcomed ... Thanks Mike

RE: top flite p-51 giant scale build
Spitfire, I always pin the firewall. Use to use wood dowels, but as of late I use left over carbon fiber rods. I seem to have a collection of left over short pieces that come in handy. As to the standoffs, I will have to let someone else help you since I am going electric. I fth e firewall is in the correct place you could simply cut off the "built up cowling and replace it with a fiberglass after market unit. Mike

RE: Lightning Build
Will be purchasing the kit this week from Eureka Aircraft. Not sure if I am going with the foam core or balsa build up wings. Always had balsa ribbed kits but the foam wings doesn't look to hard to build. No vacuum bag system so I would need to just use weights. Also, I noticed the kit is available for either front mounted or rear mounted motors. So I am looking for advice here. At this time I am not planning on competing(there are no competitions within 200 miles) Primarily sport flying and experimenting with beginner pattern flying, so I am not needing the hacker $800.00 motor. Hopefully something in the $200-$400 range:AXI, EFLITE 160, RIMFIRE, SCORPION etc. Thanks for the help guys!!! Mike

RE: Rules History, EU1-A Pics
I received my kit today from Dan!!! First, let me say the fiberglass fuselage is amazing. As with most fiberglass fuselages the seams need some attention. The top side is near perfect and the bottom seam needs a little work-no biggie. Dan had built a wood frame surrounding the fuse, and had wrapped the fuse in bubble wrap. Then, placed foam blocks in strategic locations to protect the fuse while it made its journy to the west coast I am heading out the door to a meeting, will try to post some picks tomorrow night....

I am sure Dan told me about the molds, but that was just too long ago... I can tell you that even though my first fuselage showed up with the tail section damaged, from the wing forward the quality of the fuselage looked really nice.

RE: Rules History, EU1-A Pics
Hey guys, BUYER BEWARE, forget carolinacustomaircraft.com I have had one on order since Oct 2010. First fuselage showed up damaged during shipment-One year later still no replacement fuse. Every time I send an email Dan is quick to respond. First his shop was to cold, then there was an accident, next he is able to work a couple of hours a day and my replacement fuse was first on the list(sept 2011) Still nothing. So I would spend your hard earned money with frequent flyer at rcaiir@gmail.com. I am sure Dan from Carolina custom aircraft is a nice person, but his business practices, well enough said. Mike

I placed my switches (rec, ign)directly under the wings on CG. Out of sight and still easy to get to. Also, I used an additional optical kill switch for emergency's.
