RE: TBM 93
Steff, If the head of your pilot is 1/6 scale from an action figure you can find them easily on E bay, also the japanese parachute harneses were green in color. I have used watercolors in the past to paint textiles with good results. I think I have an extra one laying around if you are interested. keep up the good work, it's going to be a nice aircraft

RE: ESM LA-7 From VQ Warbirds
Stoat, unfortunately no one makes rusian pilots in 1/6 scale. I'm using the closest things comercialy available to try and imitate one. this is what I have used so far. FLYING HELMET - IJN WITH SOME MODIFICATIONS. PARACHUTE - WWII US NAVY BOOTS - WWII GERMAN LEATHER JACKET- SEARCH ON E-BAY FOR 1/6 LEATHER JACKET. UNIFORM - FOUND A 1/6 MIG PILOT (CHINESE FROM KOREAN WAR) BELT- WWII GERMAN BELT GUN AND HOLSTER - WWII RUSIAN INFANTRY. I'm still finding things that would work and modifing to look like the ones used by the Rusians.

Stoat, I'm working on a second one and still waiting on accesories for both, I'm trying to make it as close to the russian flight gear for that period as possible. I will post some pictures as soon as I finish it, ordered a bunch of new things for them but have not received it yet

RE: ESM LA-7 From VQ Warbirds
Stoat, this is what I had come up with so far but since then I have finally come across fotos of soviet pilots from that era. the parachute I was using is a british one and is wrong, the soviet parachute I have seen in the fotos are more like the ones the US Navy used in those days, the flying cap is also diferent ( the helmet used looked more like the IJN helmet) the way the pilot uniform looks right now resembles more the fotos of female soviet pilots. I have been ordering accesories as I find them and as soon as everything is here I'll post some pics.

RE: CMP Me109G..DREAM MACHINE! TopGun bash!
Experten going by the pictures that have been posted here, the vertical stab is airfoiled and the left side has more of a curvature than the right to produce a force pushing the tail to the left, it was probably done to counteract the torque from the engine and make it fly true and straight. the blackhawks I work on have something similar on the tail rotor pylon and is there to keep the aircraft flying straight in case of a tail rotor failure but it has to be kept at a forward speed in order for the cambered fairing to counteract the torque from the rotors. keep up the great work, I can't wait to see the final result.

RE: ESM LA-7 From VQ Warbirds
I need help finding pictures of soviet pilots during WWII, I have an LA-7 and have purchased a cockpit kit from Ty and plan on using a 12" pilot figure on it but I have not been able to find any pictures of soviet pilots and the equipment they used in order to build a pilot that would closely resemble a soviet. I have already started to put one together using parts that I have found on several sites unfortunatelly my search for fotographs have yielded no result as to the color of the uniforms, type of oxygen mask used and type of parachute harness used. So far I'm very pleased with the results but still want to make it as accurate as posible even if I have to scratch built some of it as I did for one of my japanese pilots. If any of you are interested in seeing what I have come up with so far I will post some pictures later. Thanks.

RAM 3500, I could really use some close up of the Cessna O-2 in that museum. I'm in no hurry since it will be a while before I build that kit but I have already started collecting documentation on it.

RE: for that 'in service' look
The setting solution affects some of the water transfer decals, first test it out on a scrap decal that is not going to be used out of that sheet to make sure they are compatible. I have used that brand in some of my plastic models and works great but as I said test it out first because I have ruined decals before by using it. Also, it is true about using a gloss surface before applying the decals. I usually spray some Future wax in those areas, once dried I polish it with a rag untill it becomes real shinny. after applying the decals spray the flat clear over the areas and the decals will look as if they were painted on. The future wax is also great for the canopy, I sumerge the canopy in a bucket, take it out and set it aside in a dust free atmosphere until totally dried. this process will make the canopy look like real glass and the paint for the canopy frames will adhere to it with no problems.

RE: for that 'in service' look
The ones you see in that picture are the ailerons and the flaps, those will always be in the trailing edge of the wing. in the stukas case they are not mounted flush with the wing as in most aircraft.

RE: for that 'in service' look
I'm not very familiar with the Stukas control systems but my guess is that those are not slats nor any other type of lift augmenting devices, my guess is that those are either spoilers or in this case dive brakes, meant to either spoil the lift created by the wing, or inducing drag therefore making it easier or more controlable on the dive. when stowed they would be paralel to the wing minimising the frontal area and drag, when deployed they would be perpendicular to the wing therefore increasing the amount of drag and helping to slow the aircraft down. If anyone out there knows exactly what these are please feel free to correct me. [:D]
