RE: Modeltech Magic Engine choice
go for a quality 32, anything bigger is dead weight. what's the point in having rocket like vertical if everything else suffers? the Magic is not the lightest model for its type to begin with but compensates by being very robust.

RE: Rudder Cable Crossing
It depends on the model in question. Some I cross, some I don't. It's all down to the position of the rudder servo output arm and the rudder control horns. In some models not crossing can lead to the cables sawing their way through the fuz sides over time.

RE: chipmunk c of g problems
if it is a reputable ARTF kit then there must be something that has gone wrong in the building. is it designed for the size of engine that you have fitted? too much epoxy on the tail feathers?

RE: chipmunk c of g problems
sorry to be obvious but you must have too much weight at the back. are there any rear mounted servos? are they metal geared? that could make a huge difference. putting a bigger engine in to correct the C of G is not the answer, unless it is designed for one. can you change the metal push rods for carbon? can you remove the tail wheel and replace with a carbon skid?

RE: AirBorne Models
GMS 47, Prop: Master Airscrew 10-7 It must have screamed its nuts off. We were using 10 x 6 props on 40 size engines 35 years ago!! The absolute minimum with a modern 47 would be a 11 x 7 now I would imagine.

New Crescent Bullet Kit
Anyone remember this fine flying 40 size model? Now being done as a kit again. I had two in the early 80s. One shot down, the other retired somewhat oil soaked. http://www.sussex-model-centre.co.uk/shopexd.asp?id=30559

A search here will come up with plenty of info on how to instal and setup these pumps. The instructions with mine were basic and bordering on useless.

RE: Perry Pumps and regulators
I have used the oscillating (V20) perry pump with mixed success on OS 120 and 160 two strokes. It will allow you to mount the fuel tank over the c of g but I have still suffered from fuel starvation during 3d. After wrecking a UCD60 in a low prop hang due to an engine cut I stopped using them.

RE: Mike Birch Models
It was around 1974 when Mike appeared on an English TV program called (I think) “Model Magic. He taxied the beautiful multi coloured Capricorn International across the studio floor in front of the camera and I was hooked. I joined my local model club the following week and have never looked back. A couple of years later I bought a Superstar mk3 kit (very similar) and painted it in the same colour scheme. Fitted with a Webra 60, and Skyleader TSX7 radio, it flew like it was on rails.

RE: Gyros for airplanes
I''m (sadly) old enough to remember the howls of "cheating" when the first heli gyros came out. But I would agree that with prop hanging the best way is to burn fuel. I am the only "oldie" in my club that does it, and if I can learn so can you. Forget the gyro and get practicing, it''s a lot of fun and a great show off trick when you can do it.

charger displaying charge time in seconds only.
Could anyone tell me if it’s possible to alter the timing readout on a Robbe Power Peak Max amp Li charger so that it reads in hours, minutes and seconds instead of just seconds. There is nothing in the instructions on the subject and every time I try to log my charges I have to resort to a calculator to convert the reading. Thanks piroflip

RE: Model Tech Magic Tailskid to wheel help!
never had the need for a tail wheel on small 3d models my Magic taxies a treat with the skid and I feel that a wheel is dead weight besides, it''s only on the ground for 2m

RE: World Models Spot-On 120
ORIGINAL: Straight Up OK Mehmet, many people use side thrust. However, how do you cope when the aircraft is inverted? The prop still spins counter-clockwise when viewed from the front, but you now have left thrust....
Do you know why a model uses right thrust? From your statement above it seems not. A model requires right thrust whether it is upright or inverted.

I agree with pappy, if you are "into" pattern why did you get rid of the superb ys110 and buy a rubbish magnum?

RE: funtana s40 setup help!!!
to prop hang well you will need 1. a rearward c of g 2. full movement on elev and rudder but not too much expo, you want response in the middle of the stick 3. a quick pick up from idle. 4. get a good sim, AFPD has some models that are life like in the prop hang.

RE: funtana s40 setup help!!!
most models pitch to the belly on K/E, if you have a computer radio just mix rudder (master) with elev (slave) to straighten the model. be warned though that it is not an exact science and the mix will only work well for one speed and one amount of rudder input.

RE: Problems With the U Can Do?
ORIGINAL: Dave McDonald Ditto on what AKFireMedic said. knife edge has serious pitch and roll coupling. Since harriers and knife edge are some of the fundamental 3D manuevers, the UCD 60 is a handicapped 3D plane right from the start.
there are two UCD60s at my club in England. Mine (120AX) has a very small amount of K/E mixing and my friends (OS90FX) has none. They K/E and K/E loop all day with no issues. I have put myself in the target zone by stating this on RCU before but anyone with large coupling problems with their UCD does not have it set up correctly.

RE: New Kyosho Oxalys 50 ?
ORIGINAL: rolyjr Hi all, I finished my Oxalys 50 a week ago. It has a OS55AX in it with pipe – took a while to modify for the pipe, but came out well. I am currently flying Sportsman class, and my previous plane was the Showtime 50 with the same setup. The Showtime is 400gr heavier with the Oxalys weighing in at 2.56kg. This includes two coats of clear coat on the fuzz – came out brilliantly. Did this to prevent the covering issues that a lot of people seem to have had. The power on with this set up is unbelievable. Half to two thirds throttle on vertical and even then it carries on going. Currently running a 12x6, but need to go to maybe 13x5/4 to slow the plane down. Flying at 5,700 feet above sea level – any suggestions on props? Regarding the tank, I have put a 320cc in mine. It is a World Models product. Had to grind out the existing formers used to strap the 260cc tank in. Put in a lot of foam to surround the tank, and a screwed in a piece of ply at the back to hold the tank forward. works well. Thanks Roly
Hi there I only fly in the lower F3A class in England but it seems to me that you need a coarser pitch prop. A 13 x 4/5 would be more a 3D type prop. btw, I have a little Oxalys and it goes very well on a Saito 82.
