RE: H9 Extra 330 1/3/scale servo problem???
Hi Guys, Thanks alot for all your inputs, i will go with using the two servos then if this is the modified wings that were supplyed by Hanger 9, ive flown mostly Ziroli size warbirds, and this is my largest airobatic model ive owned, this is 97" ive got a 3W 70cc for it with smoke, i will try to post some photos of it and the underside of the wing showing the twin servo arangement. H9 Extra 330 1/3/scale servo problem???
Hi Guys, Ive picked up a s/h Hanger 9 Extra 330, in the wings it has holes for 2 servos per wing, on the H9 website and on a few vids ive watched on Youtube it only shows 1 servo per wing, so problem ive got is knowing if its been modified? do i fit 2 servos per wing or do i fit 1 and cover the holes over?? i plan to use Futaba 9402 coreless servos, i dont fly 3D, just basic aerobatics.......what do you think i should do?? Dave.
ORIGINAL: jeff naul Where are you on wood? Bought any yet? You'll be surprised how far you can go out of the scrap bin.
LOL very true!...well i bought a load of wood from a guy who was building planes from plans for years when he retired, the fuz is now mainly done apart from some small peices, so far ive spent £8.65p on liteply and some hardwood!!! but some of that will be used on the wing ribs,.....like i said this is going to be a budget build, even the gear and engine will be bought on a budget, but more of that later!! RE: Ziroli 92
ORIGINAL: STUKA BARRY All of Nick Ziroli's plans are tried and true, no need for mods, just build it in accordance with the plans and you will have a fantastic flying aircraft.
Thank you, Ive built and flow Nicks Bearcat and Hellcat, both flew well with hardly any deviation from the plans, i will do the same with this P47, BTW i cant remember where the pins came from, had them for years! they are very good, only complaint is sometimes they glue themselves to the airframe and the top bit you hold turns but the pin dosent, so ive cynoed my ones together! Keep up with the comments, i will carry on with progress photos! Dave.
ORIGINAL: jwalsh1 Great, thats nice to hear. I was thinking I may do a build thread but it might be a month or so before it starts. Ive ordered the kit, but they need to cut it and the lead time is 4-6 weeks. In the meantime Im prepping the build area and reading up on the plans/instructions/other build threads. I really cant wait to start, its a completely different part of the hobby that Im entering and Im really excited about it.
Hi jwalsh1, That is the best thing to do! while you wait for the wood kit to turn up, have you ordered the stringers and sheeting too? if not you will need to work out how much of that you will need so you can get started straight away! have you got any retracts? did you order the cowl, canopy and plans also? Im watching this thread, im quite a way through my build but ive always got an interest!! Keep up the good work! Di n Dave....

Hi Jason, My old Ziroli Hellcat had a 3W 60 in it, i needed around 5lb of lead in the nose, all servos near the c.o.g. use Dubro lightweight wheels, and flew fine........ im building a new one at the moment this one will have a 3W 75 Las Vegas, should be ballistic!!! RE: Ziroli F6F Hellcat Builder's Diary
Hi Guys, If there is no room then you have no choice, i have had to do this a couple of times with a servo reverser, i use coreless servos on my control surfaces and when you use a servo reverser the servo 'hums' but seems to work fine!! Here is a couple of photos of my 'new' Ziroli Hellcat, ive hung it up out the way while i finish off some other work, then i will get back to it in a few weeks... Keep up the good work guys!! RE: Ziroli F6F Hellcat Builder's Diary
Hi Mirce, Nice glass fuz will make the build a little quicker!! In the photo of the underside of the wing i notice you have the flap servos with the lincage on oposite sides of the servo, this will make one flap go up and the other go down unless you use a servo reverser! you need to move one servo over and move the lincage to the same side as the other one, they will both go the same way at the same time. Keep up the good work, Di n Dave...

RE: Ziroli F6F Hellcat Builder's Diary
Hi Guys, Well its just about the end of the summer here in the U.K. i had a good offer to sell my old Ziroli Hellcat so ive sold it.......[sm=sad_smile.gif] ......BUT!!!......... ive picked up a 3/4 built Hellcat.... it looks like its been built from a cnc cut kit, fuz is just about finished, the wing is a 3 peice unit, but i will probly keep it fitted as one as i dont have storage problem, the wing and the tail needs finishing, ive picked up a 3W 75 las vegas engine with smoke muffler, main gear is Robart, ive ordered the tailwheel unit from Sierra, i have deviated from the plans with the hinging, it wont be spot on scale but things like top hinged ailerons i dont like! cockpit is a DBALSA kit with a BBI pilot, ive started on it, hope to have it complete for next years flying season! HERE WE GO AGAIN!!!!!![:D][:D][:D] Di n Dave....

RE: ziroli duantless build 09
HI splitzed, My friend built and flyes one of the great models, i will try to dig a photo out for you, have you thought about the Moki 150 radial? i think they are called RCS in the U.S.? a bit more money, but the sound is superb!..... oh and no orible glow fuel everywhere!! I take it you are following a previous build by somone else, my friend had a problem with the dive brakes, they kept warping and going out of shape, i think the answer would be to use glassfibre sheet on these surfaces.. Good luck with the build, Di n Dave...
