RE: Fly'n Ash Fast May 19th 2013
So was the action so slow that the pilots had to leave childish messages on my answering machine? I know, I know it just isn't a real race without me there, but come on, you can at least use that race as practice for when I clean all "Yalls" clocks next month! Any pics of the race or is the SAMs crew too embarrassed of all the shots of their planes in the rear of the pack [:D]!

RE: Trashman Classic Warbird Race Sept 22 and 23
I really appreciate the help. Things just kind of came together at the wrong time. Better than the alternative. I thought I was going to miss the race altogether. Worst case scenario is I miss a heat.

RE: Trashman Classic Warbird Race Sept 22 and 23
Well it looks like the funeral is at 3 and since there is only 3 races on Saturday I think I will be O.K. I will need to leave the race by 1:00 so hopefully Silver is done at that time. I hope the matrix puts me in a 1st heat in the 3rd race. Crossing my fingers. Due to the circumstances I wont be able to brew the salsa. Sorry folks. See you folks Friday evening.

RE: Trashman Classic Warbird Race Sept 22 and 23
Sorry to about your test run-up. This issue is becoming one of serious concern. I think we have lucked out that this has not happened on the starting line. Would it sound unreasonable for an APC rep to come out to the race and do some observations and get pilot comments and feedback? I think this issue can be resolved with some proper customer response about the product. On a suckier note: my best friend of 20 years, Neil, father passed away Thursday and they are talking of having the funeral on Saturday. If that is the case I will not be able to make the race [:o]. I will keep you posted.

Oh wow, thanks a bunch. That is very generous. All this really helps more than you know. These teens in Covelo don't have much to do so the few that I have talked to about it are really interested in getting this going. Every bit helps guys!

RE: Trashman Classic Warbird Race Sept 22 and 23
Kidding aside: hey guys at the HS that I teach at I am trying to get an R/C airplane club going. I am looking for some Spektrum DX5 transmitters and a few park flyer odds and ends, a couple receivers, hand me down servos, batteries, chargers, esc's, motors. Etc. I am also looking for some gws slowstick type kits out there. If you got a few of these kind of items in your shop and you know you don't need them, could you bring them down to the race? These kids have no background in the hobby and are always interested in the racing that I do.

Well, got my Tempest all fixed up. New Cowling, and fixed that ripped gear from landing out in the hinterlands when I ran out of fuel. Also got a 20oz tank in there so no more May Days. So I am all ready to go. So Leadfoot where is that ZERO??? I want some pics baby![:D]. See you all in about 3 weeks to send this season off in the history books. Gotta make a big batch of salsa for this 2 dayer. I'm Coming For You KIMO!!!

RE: 8th Scale TA-152 Assembly Videos
Just to let everyone know, the final video to complete the wing series that Tim did is done and posted. Just look at the previous links to get to my Youtube page and you can find it. I sure had a great time doing the videos and I learned a ton. It should make my next project a lot easier. [;)]

RE: Tres Amigos Warbird Race: July 22nd
Those are some nice pics, but I think T-Gun got some nice video and pics too. There was a lot of carnage that day and there are more than a few that are licking their wounds and making repairs in order to be ready for September. Here are some pics of the repair work on mine since I ran out of fuel after the last heat. Since I ran out of fuel twice I went ahead and placed a 20oz tank in there so that problem is solved. Airborne Models is waiting on getting more Tempest cowlings, but should be here by the end of the month. The real treat will be seeing Casey race a Zero in the race coming up. Need to post some pics of that plane Leadfoot. BTW. Not only are planes in recovery mode but so are the pilots. Looks like JR may need to sleep off the hangover from this race for a couple of weeks.

Part 2 done. Tim is going to work on the other wing section, and then we will complete the video. May be a little down the road. Enjoy the videos and give some feedback. http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=rvfaXFqV6JQ

8th Scale TA-152 Assembly Videos
Hey Folks: Tim and I are doing some video segments on construction of his laser cut TA-152 kits. Even though this will focus on the Focke Wulf interceptor, this technique can be used on just about all of 8th Scale Warbird wings. Here is the first video I assembled. I should have part 2 done in a couple of days. This is an ongoing series, but at least it gets those who want to build one of these kits a little bit of help and instruction. Enjoy. http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=DkZYIcFkOSs

Don't worry the salsa will be there in September. I appreciate all the pointers out there. I will try to give Kimo a run for his money.

RE: Tres Amigos Warbird Race: July 22nd
Roy "Fricken" Batty! Talk about a blast from the past. Funny you should bring up such questionable habits. On my way down to Sac today I went through Frisco and Caltrans had to divert traffic through the Castro district and there seemed to be some kind of Leather and Rainbows parade going on. As I drove by I noticed some familiar faces in the crowd. I was able to snap a quick shot. It is not too often you can get Speedracer, Tommy, and Roy together for one shot. At least it looks like they were having a good time [;)].

Tim made his way over and helped me get this wing squared away, literally. Learned a lot of neat tricks from Tim and he also helped me get the wing bolted and the tail section squared and glued in. It is all downhill from here!!! Thanks a ton Tim for your help and experience.

RE: Tres Amigos Warbird Race: July 22nd
Man this is crazy! Check this pilot out. This guy known as Monty "Skids" Churchill was a Spitfire Driver in the Battle of Britain in the summer of 1940 and recorded 10-ME109 kills, 7-BF110 kills, 6 HE-111 kills, and 4-JU87 Kills. The man is credited with saving the airfields and radar in Kent and Dover alone. Again, another pilot that those clowns should study.
